Abstract

A thermal shrink fit chuck for a high performance rotary tool, e. g. drill, milling machine etc., has an integral duct for supplying cooling fluid to the tool. The socket for the tool shank is provided with drainage ducts to prevent cooling fluid collecting in the chuck and thereby generating high pressure steam when the chuck is heated when replacing the tool. The drainage ducts drain collected fluid back into the cooling fluid supply duct and prevent.

Claims (9)

1. Schrumpf-Werkzeughalter (10) für ein um eine Drehachse (16) rotie­ rendes Werkzeug (12), insbesondere einen Bohrer oder Fräser, wobei der Werkzeughalter (10) einen Schaft (24) des Werkzeugs (12) in einer zentrischen Aufnahmeöffnung (22) eines Grundkörpers (14) des Werkzeughalters (10) im Presssitz hält und bei insbesondere induktiver Erwärmung des Bereichs (20) der Aufnahmeöffnung (22) dieses Grundkörpers (14) freigibt, wobei sich zentrisch in einer am Grund der Aufnahmeöffnung (22) gebildeten Positionieranlagefläche (32) für die schaftseitige Stirnfläche (34) des Werkzeugs (12) ein im Werkzeughalter (10) ausgebildeter Kühlmittelzuführkanal (26, 38) in die Aufnahmeöffnung (22) öffnet, aus dem Flüssigkühlmittel in eine das Werkzeug (12) von dessen schaftseitiger Stirnfläche (34) her axial durchsetzende Kühlbohrung (36) einleitbar ist, und wobei in der Aufnahmeöffnung (22) bei darin eingesetztem Werkzeug (12) ein an den Werkzeugschaft (24) angrenzender Leckageraum (40) gebildet ist, in den Teile des über den Kühlmittelzuführkanal (26, 38) angelie­ ferten Kühlmittels entweichen und sich darin sammeln, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass in dem Werkzeughalter (10) ein Ab­ laufsystem (42) mit mindestens einem den Leckageraum (40) mit dem Kühlmittelzuführkanal (26, 38) verbindenden Ablaufkanal (44) ausgebildet ist, welcher den Rücklauf des in dem Leckageraum (40) gesammelten Kühlmittels in den Kühlmittelzuführkanal (26, 38) er­ möglicht.1. shrinking tool holder ( 10 ) for a tool ( 12 ) rotating about an axis of rotation ( 16 ), in particular a drill or milling cutter, the tool holder ( 10 ) having a shank ( 24 ) of the tool ( 12 ) in a central receiving opening ( 22 ) of a base body ( 14 ) of the tool holder ( 10 ) holds in a press fit and, in particular when the region ( 20 ) of the receiving opening ( 22 ) is inductively heated, releases this base body ( 14 ), centered in one formed on the base of the receiving opening ( 22 ) Positioning system surface ( 32 ) for the shank-side end face ( 34 ) of the tool ( 12 ) opens a coolant supply channel ( 26 , 38 ) formed in the tool holder ( 10 ) into the receiving opening ( 22 ), from which the liquid coolant into a tool ( 12 ) from the shank side End face ( 34 ) axially penetrating cooling bore ( 36 ) can be introduced, and wherein in the receiving opening ( 22 ) with a tool ( 12 ) inserted therein the tool shank ( 24 ) adjacent leakage space ( 40 ) is formed, in which parts of the coolant supplied via the coolant supply channel ( 26 , 38 ) escape and collect therein, characterized in that in the tool holder ( 10 ) a drain system ( 42 ) is formed with at least one drain channel ( 44 ) connecting the leakage space ( 40 ) to the coolant supply channel ( 26 , 38 ), which allows the coolant collected in the leakage space ( 40 ) to flow back into the coolant supply channel ( 26 , 38 ). 2.
