Abstract
Description
The invention is based on a four-stroke internal combustion engine with compression ignition and internal exhaust gas recirculation according to Preamble of claim 1 and of a method for control and control of the motor process of a 4-stroke Compression ignition internal combustion engine feedback according to the preamble of claim 5.
A four stroke internal combustion engine with compression ignition is from the publication "The Knocking Syndrome - Its Cure and Its Potential "by J. Willand, SAE paper 982483 described homogeneous combustion process of internal combustion The machine is activated by a decentralized one in one burner parallel charge by means of compression In contrast to previously common processes, release is achieved with which by central activation by means of an ignition source (Otto Process) or by means of injection (diesel process) a serial Ver burning of the charge with a gradually spreading flame front takes place. The decentralized activation gives every load element enough activation energy to increase the energy release level to reach.
Special advantages in homogeneous combustion through decentralized activation of the charge result from the possibility of being able to completely burn extremely lean mixtures, which is why the fuel consumption drops. With the combustion of such extremely lean mixtures, on the other hand, low combustion temperatures are associated, which are usually below the temperature limit for the formation of nitrogen oxides (NO x ), so that the nitrogen oxide emissions of such an internal combustion engine are low, at least at low load.
The auto-ignition of the charge in the combustion process changes a certain energy and temperature level of the La dung. To the temperature in the combustion chamber on the required activation according to the cited publication a four-stroke internal combustion engine a certain amount of hot Exhaust gas from the previous cycle to mix with the fresh one Charge of the current cycle held in the combustion chamber. This is done by appropriate control of the inlet and off let valves, which is proposed, in contrast to conventional Ven valve timing to close the exhaust valve earlier and the intake open the valve later. This can leave a certain amount of rest Exhaust gases are retained in the combustion chamber to keep them fresh Mix charge and use for the next cycle. There the re-used residual exhaust gas part of the combustion chamber or the on inlet and outlet channels does not leave, a so-called. "Exhaust gas retention" implemented.
The described type of exhaust gas retention has the disadvantage that that between the hot exhaust gas retained in the combustion chamber and the relatively cold cylinder wall, a heat transfer takes place and thus the temperature of the exhaust gas drops. The ge desired increase in the temperature of the charge in the combustion chamber then inadequate.
In addition, exhaust gas recirculation systems are known, in which means large valve overlaps, e.g. B. by opening the inlet early valve pushed exhaust gas from the combustion chamber into an intake duct and from there is sucked back into the combustion chamber. Since the An suction channel is relatively cold compared to the exhaust gas, it comes true just pushing it in and out of the intake duct if an undesirable cooling of the exhaust gas. In addition, it will Intake system heated by the hot exhaust gas, which is why delivery degree losses arise.
In contrast, the present invention has the object grunde, a four-stroke internal combustion engine with compression ignition and a method for controlling and regulating such a burner To create an engine in which heat loss of the exhaust gas largely avoided during exhaust gas recirculation.
According to the invention, this object is characterized by solved part of claims 1 and 5 mentioned features.
The four-stroke internal combustion engine with comm Pressure ignition according to claim 1 and the invention Method for controlling and regulating such a 4-stroke Internal combustion engine according to claim 5 have the advantage that because the exhaust gas displacement from the combustion chamber through the open outlet valve in the outlet duct, in which the wall temperatures are higher than that of the cylinder wall, the exhaust gas is less there can cool and its for the desired increase in energy approximately maintains high temperature from the charge.
By the measures listed in the subclaims are advantageous developments and improvements of the Pa Claims 1 and 5 specified invention possible.
ventile folgende Steuerzeiten aufweisen:
A particularly preferred development of the invention provides that when the top dead center position is defined by a crank angle of 360 degrees, the inlet and outlet valves have the following timing:
- - Öffnen des Auslaßventils in einem Kurbelwinkelbereich zwischen 90 Grad und 180 Grad, vorzugsweise bei 150 Grad;- Opening the exhaust valve in a crank angle range between 90 degrees and 180 degrees, preferably at 150 degrees;
- - Schließen des Auslaßventils und im wesentlichen gleichzeitiges Öffnen des Einlaßventils in einem Kurbelwinkelbereich zwischen 450 Grad und 540 Grad, vorzugsweise bei 470 Grad; und- Closing the exhaust valve and essentially simultaneously Opening the intake valve in a crank angle range between 450 degrees and 540 degrees, preferably at 470 degrees; and
- - Schließen des Einlaßventils in einem Kurbelwinkelbereich zwischen 540 und 630 Grad, vorzugsweise bei 560 Grad.- Closing the intake valve in a crank angle range between 540 and 630 degrees, preferably at 560 degrees.
According to a further development, the intake and exhaust valves electromagnetic valves, which are controlled by a control system direction can be controlled such that depending on the controlled variables Formative quantities beginning and duration or focus of the burning Load / implementation of the charge during a cycle as manipulated variables a certain amount of exhaust gas can be returned to the combustion chamber and a certain temperature of the recirculated exhaust gas can be achieved, to determine the start and duration of the combustion / implementation the charge for the next cycle. Because of the importance of Amount and temperature of the flue gas returned to the combustion chamber ses for the start and duration of the combustion / implementation of the La then as part of the combustion process Low-consumption and low-emission combustion positions can be regulated. The variable timing of the intake and exhaust valves are internal half of the preferred crank angle ranges mentioned. According to A development of the invention, it is also possible to the inlet and To design outlet valves to be actuated electro-hydraulically.

Fig. 3c eine schematische Querschnittsansicht der Zylinder- Kolben-Einheit bei einem Kurbelwinkel von ca. 500 Grad; 3c is a schematic cross-sectional view of the cylinder-piston unit at a crank angle of approximately 500 degrees.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1, the control and regulating device of an internal combustion engine 2 with compression ignition and four-stroke cycle, which is denoted overall by 1, serves to regulate the combustion process, in particular to regulate the start and duration of the combustion / implementation or the heat release in one Combustion chamber of the internal combustion engine 2 charge, formed by an air-fuel mixture. By changing the beginning and the duration of the combustion / implementation of the load, the "location" of the combustion process can be adapted to the respective conditions in order to optimize it with regard to fuel consumption and exhaust gas emissions, which is why these variables are preferably controlled variables x of the control and regulating device 1 represent. The re gel stretch is formed by the internal combustion engine 2 , on which disturbance variables act z, z. B. in the form of changes in the temperature of the intake air or its pressure.
The control variables x: the start and duration of the combustion / implementation of the charge can be measured by sensors 4 , preferably by a combustion chamber pressure sensor known per se and / or an ion current sensor, in order to provide electrical signals for a control device 6 for comparing the measured variables with corresponding guide variables w to generate which z. B. are stored in a map memory of the control device 6 . However, it is also possible to use optical fiber measurement technology to generate electrical signals, for example to use an optical fiber sensor which can measure the radiation intensity in the combustion chamber.
Depending on the comparison of the control variables x with the assigned reference variables w, the control unit 6 generates signals for the control of control variables 8 that supply control variables y. The internal combustion engine 2 comprises a plurality of cylinders, preferably with electromagnetic or electrohydraulic inlet and outlet valves, which form actuators 8 of the control and regulating device 1 . Actuating variables y of the intake and exhaust valves are the valve timing, through which the quantity and temperature of the exhaust gas remaining or returned to the combustion chamber of a cylinder-piston unit can be determined and the control variables x: start and duration of the combustion / conversion can be influenced.
In Fig. 2 and Fig. 3a to Fig. 3c is an example of a particularly preferred example of the valve control of an electromagnetic intake valve 10 and an electromagnetic exhaust valve 12 of a cylinder-piston unit 14 of the internal combustion engine 2 to realize an internal exhaust gas recirculation. In detail, the piston travel and the valve timing as a function of the crank angle are shown in diagram form in FIG. 2. In the motor process of the internal combustion engine 2 , it is preferably a well-known four-stroke process with an intake stroke, a sealing stroke, a working stroke and an exhaust stroke. Referring to FIG. 2 starting the Kol is ben 16 in a top dead center position of start of combustion-Z OT, which initiates the power stroke at a crank angle of zero degrees. The auto-ignition of the air-fuel mixture takes place in a range between 10 degrees before ZDC to approximately 10 degrees after ZDC (zero degree crank angle). Shortly before reaching the subsequent bottom dead center position of the piston 16 , the outlet valve 12 - referred to in FIG. 2 as AÖ - opens in a crank angle range between 150 degrees and 180 degrees, preferably at 165 degrees. The exhaust valve 12 remains open during the subsequent exhaust stroke with upward movement of the piston 16 , so that hot exhaust gas can be pushed into an exhaust port 18 , as is illustrated by the piston position shown in Fig. 3a at about 200 degrees crank angle light. Instead of opening the inlet valve 10 as usual just before reaching an upper charge-change dead center position LW OT at a crank angle of 360 degrees, this remains closed until well into the now following suction cycle, so that the piston 16 moving to the bottom dead center position instead of fresh air previously pushed into the outlet channel 18 , still hot exhaust gas is sucked back into the combustion chamber 20 , as the piston position shown in FIG. 3b illustrates at a crank angle of approximately 400 degrees. At the earliest at approximately 360 degrees crank angle (corresponds to 360 degrees before Z OT ), fuel can be injected directly into combustion chamber 20 via an injection nozzle 22 . However, an intake manifold injection is also possible, which is implemented, for example, during the intake of fresh air with the inlet valve open. A pre-storage of the fuel with the inlet valve still closed is also conceivable. Only after the exhaust gas has been sucked back into the combustion chamber 20 , does the intake valve 10 - referred to as EÖ in FIG. 2 - open in order to suck in fresh air from an intake duct 23 by means of the remaining residue of the downward movement of the piston 16 , as shown in FIG. 3c is illustrated with a crank angle position of approximately 500 degrees. The intake valve opening EÖ takes place essentially simultaneously with the exhaust valve closing AS in a crank angle range between 450 and 540 degrees, preferably at 470 degrees. After overcoming a bottom dead center position of the piston 16 , the closing of the inlet valve 10, designated ES, takes place in a crank angle range between 540 and 630 degrees, preferably at 560 degrees. During the subsequent compression of the air-fuel-exhaust gas mixture brought to a higher energy level by the recirculated hot exhaust gases, its auto-ignition is finally triggered in the region of the upper ignition dead center position Z OT .
To influence the controlled variables x: start and duration or focus of the combustion / implementation of the charge in the combustion chamber 20 , electrical signals from the control device 6 to the electromagnetic intake and exhaust valves 10 , 12 are controlled to the crank angle position of the exhaust valve closing AS or of the intake valve opening EÖ within the above-mentioned crank angle ranges to shift to higher or lower crank angles, the crank angle distance between the exhaust valve opening AÖ and Einlaßven til-Close ES preferably remains substantially constant.
The exhaust valve closing AS and intake valve opening EÖ er follows approximately in the same crank angle range. Ideally takes place the exhaust valve closing AS and the intake valve opening EÖ in the we held at the same time. Under the focus of Ver the time of a 50% conversion of the sprayed fuel mass understood.
