Diese Steuerung 3 wird über Leitungen 9, 10 (hier als Alternative gestrichelt dargestellt) mit dem Zünd schloss 11 des Fahrzeugs und dem Wegfahrsperrsteuergerät 8 verbunden. Nach einem Zündung-Ein-Befehl kann nun der an das Wegfahrsperr-Steuergerät 8 übermittelte Code im Steuergerät 3 selbst auf seine Richtigkeit hin überprüft werden, was grundsätzlich nach einem Zündung-Ein-Signal aber nicht öfters während des Fahrzeugbetriebs erfolgen sollte.
