Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a heating element for heating currents mender gases, with a first flat component, which electrically conductive and by conducting an electri current is heated, and a second flat comm component, which is electrically insulating, the compo nents are arranged so that a layer sequence before lies, and the components flow paths for that forming a gas.
A generic heating element is from DE 196 40 577 A1 known. It is an electrical be heated catalytic converters with a laminated on construction made of corrugated metal foils and flat metal foils lien is formed. There are a number of successive ones layers of corrugated and flat metal foils in front. The flat metal foils and the corrugated metal foils Lines are isolated from each other by insulating layers liert. There are areas with a high electrical Resistance, so that with an applied voltage and a resulting current flow areas with a greatly increased Temperature. Because of this arrangement, be high with a low electrical current Temperature for starting catalytic reactions testifies.
The described heating arrangement of the prior art be summarizes the catalytic conversion of exhaust gases. Al However, there are other reasons for heating one Exhaust gas flow.
In diesel engines, for example, it is known that in the Ab soot particles in a filter within the gas Filter out exhaust system. If the diesel engine with operated under high load, they pass through the filter exhaust gases occurring at a high temperature, and that of the Filters trap soot particles due to the high Temperatures burned. As a result, it happens only rarely a clogging of the filter, since it is virtually self-cleaning de effect. The operation of one is problematic Soot filter, however, under operating conditions of the engine, which are comparatively low exhaust gas temperatures pull. The exhaust gas temperature is then no longer sufficient off, the energy necessary for the combustion of the in the filter provide soot particles located. It can therefore Also useful for exhaust systems for diesel engines To heat the exhaust gas flow.
The invention is therefore based on the object a simple and effective way of heating to create flowing gases, which in particular in conjunction particle filter is useful.
This object is achieved with the features of claims 1, 14 and 17 solved.
The heating element according to the invention is based on the prior art Technology in that at least some layers of the Layer sequence of the first flat component through the second flat component are isolated from each other. The Heating element is compared to the heating element described ment of the prior art significantly simplified and for the operation in connection with a particulate filter suitable. Since the heating element of the present inven primarily not starting a catalyze table reaction, it is not necessary to local To provide high temperature zones. Rather, the current to convey an elevated temperature to the total gas thus combustion in a subsequent filter sedentary soot particles can occur. It is therefore possible with a layer sequence of only two components that he to achieve the desired result. In particular, it can be local High temperature areas are dispensed with, which is a simple Chen construction of the heating element allows.
It is particularly preferred if the first flat compo has at least one metal foil. A metal foil lie is to be used as an electrically conductive component Particularly advantageous because metal foils are easy to process are and the extreme conditions in an exhaust fan withstand particularly well.
The first flat component is preferably wave-shaped educated. With such a wavy design can be particularly good in a given volume Generate heating effect. The flowing gas comes with one large area of the heated first flat component in Contact.
The components are preferably spiral-shaped around a lei tion core arranged so that the layer sequence arises.
The two poles of the power supply thus become one partly in the center of the spiral arrangement, i.e. H. to the Core and in the outer area of the spiral An put in order.
The sequence of layers preferably has at least four Layers on. There is an arrangement of four layers in operation as advantageous in terms of flow processes as well as on the heating of the gas.
It is particularly preferred if the spiral arrangement is arranged in a tube. That is how it is Flow volume defined for the gas to be heated, and the layer arrangement is sufficient stability mediated.
It may be advantageous for the length of the tube to be longer is the axial length of the spiral arrangement. If the pipe, for example, downstream via the heating element survives ment, other functional Elements may be provided.
In this context, it is particularly advantageous if the tube is designed as an inner tube of a filter element is. You get a robust construction with one lumpy carrier, both for the filter element and for the heating element.
It is particularly preferred if the insulating components a film made of temperature-resistant, flexible material is. Due to the flexibility of the film you are in one hand the shape of the layer arrangement is variable; furthermore is flexibility also with regard to the operation of the Heating element is advantageous because due to thermal and me chanic effects sometimes deformations of the layer arrangement can occur.
It can also be advantageous if the insulating Component an inner support layer, preferably made of metal, and disposed on both sides of the inner support layer Has outer layers of an insulating material. By this structure is a robust, temperature-resistant Heating arrangement before.
The insulating film is preferably a glass fiber reinforced mica layer that is up to 900 ° C is temperature resistant. Such an embodiment offers advantageous flexibility in terms of Manufacturing and sufficient resilience during the Operation of the heating element.
The heating power is preferably changed by changing the Wi the state of the first component can be changed. Such Resistance changes can be made by lengthening, shortening and / or broadening of the first component the. Furthermore, the length, the strength and the wel tion of the preferably wave-shaped electri the resistance and thus the heating power influence. The choice of material is also a para meters to change the heating output. With the change the resistance through geometric measures is towards it make sure that the insulating layer is adapted accordingly.
It may also be advantageous for some layers of the Do not oppose the layer sequence of the first flat component are isolated from each other. For example, there is a spiral shaped arrangement in front of a tube, so the outer area by omitting an insulating layer be "short-circuited" so that this is not included tion of the flowing gas contributes. This can sometimes be a cause greater efficiency in heating because of the radiation the thermal energy introduced into the gas from the pipe wall near areas.
In the exhaust system according to the invention there is at least one Heating element upstream of at least one fil ter arranged. There is therefore an assignment between egg nem heating element and a filter, so that a burning the solid particles in a filter targeted by the loading driving a heating element can take place.
It is particularly advantageous if several filters and heating elements are arranged in parallel. That way each filter element is specifically charged with heated gas become.
It is particularly advantageous if at least one Filter at least one pressure measuring point is arranged. The Pressure upstream of the filter during the operation of the exhaust system can be used as a measure of the clogging of the filter the. Consequently, by measuring the pressure on a Pressure measuring point can be determined at what time the Use of a heating element is required. It can the load state of the engine is also taken into account the.
Flow in the heating method according to the invention the gases become at least one heating element selective in time operated. For example, a diesel engine with high Load operated, because of the already high exhaust gas temperatures the use of a heating element sometimes does not or rarely required. At low load, one more frequent clogging of the filter, so that a häu Operation of the heating elements is useful. In any case is avoided by selective operation, heating elements subject to unnecessary continuous operation and performance unnecessary to remove from the electrical system.
The method according to the invention is particularly advantageous when the pressure is measured before the at least one filter and the at least one heating element is pressure-dependent and depending on the load condition of the engine in question is driven. Since the pressure in front of the filter is largely determined by the solids content already collected by the filter depends on the pressure measurement, the appropriate time rooms for the operation of a heating element can be determined.
Several heating elements are preferred in the method and several filters are used, one heating element each is assigned to a filter; at least one heating element operated when the pressure exceeds a threshold pressure tet, and when successive threshold pressure is exceeded different heating elements or different Groups of heating elements operated. For the order according to the operation of the exhaust system it is sometimes not him required, always all heating elements at one pressure to ignite increase. As a result, selective ignition is off reaching which, for example, of a predetermined Order depends. It is also conceivable to print in the Exhaust system to measure depending on location, so that on this How to choose the "right" heating element for education the greatest possible burning effect can take place.
The invention is based on the surprising finding that it is possible with a simple heating element is, an exhaust system always under almost optimal To operate conditions. Has proven to be particularly advantageous choosing an arrangement within the exhaust system len, which is a selective and therefore economical and eco enables logical operation.
The invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying Drawings based on a preferred embodiment described playfully.

In Fig. 1a, an inventive heating element 2 is Darge. The heating element 2 comprises a wave-shaped metal foil 4 , which is wound spirally. The resulting layers due to this spiral arrangement are isolated by insulating layers 6 against each other. Through the arrangement of the components described flow paths 8 are formed out for a gas to be heated. The layers are wrapped around a line core 10 ge. The entire spiral arrangement is arranged within half of a tube 12 . To heat the heating element, an electrical voltage is applied to the line core 10 and in the outer region to the metal foil 4 . The electrical connection in the outer region of the spiral arrangement is preferably made by direct contacting of the tube 12 . The heating element 2 is supported centrally by the core 10 and thus stabilized. The voltage supply to the line core 10 takes place via a feed line 20 which is guided through a, preferably ceramic, insulation 22 through the tube 12 to the outside.
In Fig. 1b is a section of the present invention te by the insulating Components 6 in a preferred embodiment shown. The insulating component 6 consists of three layers 6 a, 6 b, 6 c, the middle layer 6 b is preferably a metal layer, while the outer layers 6 a, 6 c are insulating.
Fig. 2 zeigt einen Teil einer Auspuffanlage. Fig. 2 shows part of an exhaust system. In a puff pipe 14 , a filter 16 is arranged. The particle-laden gas flowing through the exhaust pipe flows into the filter 16 in an end region.
The cleaned gas subsequently leaves the inner region of the filter 16 through the perforated outer region of the filter 16 provided with a filter medium. Flow paths are indicated by arrows as an example. The filter 16 is shown, a heating element 2 is connected upstream, so that the exhaust gas can be heated. Preferably, several filters 16 are arranged in the exhaust pipe 14 . In front of the filters 16 there is a pressure measuring point 18 , at which the pressure inside the exhaust pipe 14 can be determined. The pressure measuring point 18 can be realized, for example, by a tube leading to the outside of a pressure sensor. The more dirty the filters 16 are, the higher the pressure which is determined via the pressure measuring point 18 . The operation of a heating element 2 can thus be made dependent on the pressure which is determined at the pressure measuring point 18 . As a result, the heating element 2 is only operated if this is actually necessary. In an arrangement with a plurality of filters 16 and a plurality of heating elements 2 , the heating elements 2 are also ignited in a pressure-dependent manner, but selectively and preferably in a predetermined sequence. The load state of the vehicle can be used as a further parameter for selective ignition.
Fig. 3 shows the exhaust pipe 14 in the viewing direction marked III in Fig. 2. Several filters 16 , 16 'can be seen, it being possible for different filters to be used with regard to the geometric arrangement or also with regard to the filter material. In the vorlie example, a central heating element 2 is provided, which serves to heat the gas for cleaning all filters 16 , 16 '.
Fig. 4 zeigt ein in ein Rohr 12 eingesetztes Heizelement 2. Fig. 4 shows an inserted into a tube 12 heating element 2. Here, too, the electrical supply 20 to the Lei core 12 is shown, which is guided via a ceramic insulation 22 in the outer region of the tube 12 .
In Fig. 5, a heating element 2 is represented, which is inserted into an elongated tube 12. The winding of the heating element 2 is pushed onto a constriction in the rear part of the tube 12 . This is sufficient stabilization of the heating element 2 against slipping. The ver extended part of the tube 12 is provided with holes 24 so that gases flowing through the tube 12 can pass through the holes 24 to the outside. The actual filter medium is preferably brought to the outside of the perforated tube part.
