Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a device for determining the position of an ar beitsfocus relative to a surface, in particular relative to the surface of a workpiece to be machined in a laser processing system, so like a device for regulating the focus position using the of the device for determining the position of the work focus Output signal.
Wherever there is a working light beam on a surface to be processed or focused on the surface of a workpiece to be machined must be, it is necessary to determine the distance between a focusing op tic, and the surface on which the working light beam is focused should, to know and to monitor, always by setting and regulating the correct focussing of the working light beam to create. Focusing here is not just about mapping one Working light source optically arranged in infinity in the focal point to understand the point of focus optics, but each image of an ar working light source into a preferably punctiform pixel on a Surface.
In laser processing systems in which workpieces, in particular lei metal sheets are welded or cut using laser radiation, it is known to determine the distance of a laser machining head in which the Fo kissing optics is arranged from the workpiece surface to kapaziti vem ways to grasp the capacity of one of the workpiece opposite measuring electrode and the workpiece formed measuring capacitor is detected. From the size of the measuring capacity or immediately bar from a signal corresponding to the size of the measuring capacity then the distance between the factory using suitable calibration curves piece and laser processing head can be determined and regulated.
This so-called capacitive distance control in laser processing applications location has largely proven itself and works reliably. Problema is table, however, that with cutting and welding operations with a laser between the sensor electrode and the plasma Workpiece forms, the electrical properties of which are often not constant and can therefore falsify the capacity measurement if none appropriate countermeasures are provided.
In the doctoral thesis by C. Hembd-Söllner, "Beam Diagnostics of CO 2 - High-Power Lasers with Diffractive Optics", Faculty of Design and Manufacturing Technology at the University of Stuttgart, 1997, an autofocus system for a CO 2 high-power laser was proposed first coarse grating (grating constants about 0.5 mm at a wavelength λ ≈ 10.6 µm), diagnostic light beam is coupled out of a main test light beam of a CO 2 laser corresponding to a working light beam, in order to have a main focus corresponding to a machining focus and a diagnostic focus in a workpiece surface to generate the corresponding aperture level. The diagnostic light beam reflected at the diaphragm then runs back through the imaging elements of the beam path and is bent out of the Hembt beam path using a second finer grating (grating constant approximately 50 μm). The first order of the reflected light is used to monitor the focus position relative to the aperture, an astigmatic focusing method with a quadrant detector being used.
Another autofocus system to determine the location of a job kus relative to a surface is in compact disc (CD) players knows (Principles of Degital Audio, K.L. Polman, Harward W. SAMS & COMPANY Audio Library, pages 337 to 339). With this well-known car The focus system is the work light reflected on the surface of the CD beam astigmatic using an additional cylindrical lens on a four-quadrant photodiode, that is, on a photodiode det, the four ent the quadrants of a Cartesian coordinate system has appropriately arranged, separate reception areas. The Ge The total signal of the four quadrant photodiode is the working signal for the playback process, while the individual to capture the focus position signals diagonally opposite diodes added and on concluding from these sums the difference is formed, which then according to size and sign, the size or direction of the deviation the focus from the plate surface describes.
Proceeding from this, the object of the invention is another To provide device of the type mentioned, which it in particular which enables the focus position of a machining beam path to be relative to reliably monitor a surface without the work beam is significantly affected.
This object is achieved by the device according to claim 1. Advantage adhesive embodiments of the invention are in the dependent claims wrote. A particularly advantageous use of the invention is in Claim 13 specified.
According to the invention is in a device for determining the position a work focus relative to a surface where the work blast gang a diffraction element for decoupling at least one measuring light arranged from a working light beam, a second Beu supply element provided that the reflected measuring light beam into one Reception area of a spatially resolving, radiation-sensitive emp catcher arrangement focused to the intensity distribution of the measuring light beam in the reception area.
The second diffraction element is expediently a hologram preferably a phase hologram, the hologram being both off coupling grid as well as an imaging element acts to the reflected To prevent measuring light beam from the working beam path as well also in accordance with the optical characteristics required for the measurement characteristic educational properties on the radiation sensitive receiver arrangement focus.
According to the invention, all optical ele elements for guiding and focusing the reflected measuring light beam in summarize a single optical element that not only the right decouples the reflected measuring light beam from the main beam path, son also with the optical egg necessary for the measurement characteristic properties. In this way, a defined measurement character can be obtained achieve teristik without the need for additional optical elements.
In a particularly preferred development of the invention, it is provided hen that the reflected measuring light beam astigmatic on the radiation sensitive receiver arrangement is focused. By use The formation of an astigmatic image can be determined from the form and relative Rotation of the light spot on the reception area is not just a measure of get the size of the working focus distance from the surface, but at the same time also determine whether the actual focus position of the light source is in front of or behind the surface.
Although it is basically possible to match diffraction elements de To use transmission grids is a convenient Wei terbildung the invention characterized in that both the first and that second diffraction element on a mirror in the working beam path are arranged, preferably both diffraction elements on the same Mirrors are arranged in the working beam path.
The diffraction elements can be formed particularly easily if that first diffraction element in a Be lying next to the optical axis range of the working beam path is provided, while the second Beu the first diffraction element with respect to the optical axis se of the working beam path is diametrically opposite. In this way partial areas of the pupil lying next to each other can be or use the returning measuring light beam.
However, it is also possible that the first and second diffraction elements are arranged overlapping and essentially over the extend the entire cross section of the working beam path. Here leaves a measuring light beam decouple from the working light beam, which is not only has a sufficiently high intensity for measurement purposes, but the also has essentially the same cross-section as the work beam of light so that it has the optical elements in the same way as this goes through.
In another development of the invention it is provided that as Measuring light beam or beams, which in the +1. and / or -1. Diffraction order diffracted portion of the working light beam is used. The use of the ± 1. Diffraction order does not only represent a sufficiently high intensity of the measuring light beam, but also leads to the measuring or diagnostic focus is relatively close to the work focus, so that a reliable monitoring of the focus position is possible and on on the other hand, nozzles surrounding the working light beam in the outlet area and / or shielding elements do not hinder the measuring light beam.
Although it is basically conceivable that as a spatially resolving, radiation sensitive receiver arrangement a 1-dimensional receiver, e.g. B. a photodiode row is provided, is particularly advantageous in one th embodiment of the invention a two-dimensional spatially resolving, radiation-sensitive receiver arrangement provided. Hereby can be used especially when using astigmatic imaging egg properties of the size and relative orientation of the measuring light spot determine the receiver particularly reliably in order to determine direction and Determine the size of the deviation of the focus position from the target position.
It is particularly useful if a Qua drantenempfänger with four reception areas is provided, which in the we considerably define a square-shaped reception area.
In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention it is hen that the working light is IR radiation, in particular IR laser radiation, preferably the long-wave IR laser radiation of a CO 2 laser is used, and that the radiation-sensitive receiver arrangement is a thermoelectric converter arrangement, preferably a thermopile arrangement is.
The device according to the invention for Determine the location of a work focus relative to a surface in a Use the device that always regulates the focus position so that the work focus on the surface or at a defined distance from it. For this purpose, the output signal of the spatially resolved is expediently the radiation-sensitive receiver arrangement to an evaluation circuit delivered, which results from the deviation of an actual focus position from the target focus position corresponding signal determined that a night guide device is supplied, which in dependence on this signal Focus position adjusts.
Although it is fundamentally possible to use the focusing optics It is special to move the machining head relative to the workpiece advantageous if the tracking device in the working beam path arranged adaptive mirror includes, its imaging properties depending on the deviation of the actual focus position from the target Focus position corresponding signal can be adjusted to match the focus optics coming or running towards it according to the desired change in the focus position an additional divergence or To impress convergence. This makes it particularly sensitive achieve almost instantaneous readjustment of the focus position. In another embodiment of the invention it is provided that the Tracking device an adjusting device for the focusing optics summarizes the position of the focusing optics depending on that of the deviation the actual focus position from the signal corresponding to the target focus position sets.

Die beiden Beugungselemente 18, 18 liegen dabei zu beiden Seiten der op tischen Achse O. A. Fig. 1 shows an example of a working beam path in which an Ar beitslichtstrahl is focused on a surface, the processing beam path of a laser processing machine, in which one of a laser 10 , z. B. a CO 2 high power laser, generated processing laser light beam via various beam guiding elements, of which only egg nes is shown schematically as a deflection mirror 12 , is guided to a focusing optics 13 in a laser processing head, not shown. Between the deflecting mirror 12 and the focusing optics 13 , a further deflecting mirror 14 is arranged at a fixed distance from the focusing optics 13 in the laser processing head, on the mirror surface of which a first and a second diffraction element in a first and a second surface area 16 and 17 , i.e. in a first and a second partial region of a pupil of the beam path is arranged, as shown in FIG. 2. The arranged in the surface region 16 the diffraction element 18 is a relatively coarse output coupling grating 18, microns, for example, at a laser wavelength of approximately 10 a lattice spacing of 0.5 mm has. A hologram, in particular a phase hologram, is provided as the second diffraction element 18 'in the surface region 17 , the extremely fine and complex structure of which is only indicated schematically. The two diffraction elements 18 , 18 lie on both sides of the optical axis OA
The focusing optics 13 has, as a further deflection mirror, an adaptive mirror 19 and an imaging mirror 20 , which focuses the incoming processing laser beam 11 into a pixel 21 on a workpiece surface 22 . The image point of the processing laser beam 11 is referred to below as the working focus 21 .
The first diffraction element, ie the decoupling grating 18 couples from the processing laser beam 11 , which represents the 0th diffraction order behind the deflecting mirror 14 , that is to say behind the decoupling grating 18 , a diagnostic or measuring light beam 23 which is +1 from laser light. or -1. Diffraction order is formed. It is also possible to +1 both. as well as the -1. Diffraction order to use the diagnostic or measuring light beam 23 . To simplify the presentation of the description, however, only a single measuring light beam 23 is shown and explained.
The measuring light beam 23 passes through the same working beam path as the processing laser beam 11 and is focused on the workpiece surface 22 in a pixel 24 next to the working focus 21 . The pixel of the measuring light beam 23 is referred to below as the measuring focus 24 .
If both first diffraction orders were used, a second measurement focus would be present on the workpiece surface 22 , which would be diametrically opposite the measurement focus 24 shown with respect to the work focus 21 .
The reflected on the workpiece surface 22 next to the working focus 21 in the Meßfo kus 24 measuring light beam 23 'passes through the Arbeitsstrahl lengang back to the deflecting mirror 14 , on which in the surface area 17 a hologram, preferably a phase hologram 18 ' is applied, which reflects the back-reflected measuring light beam 23 'bent out of the working beam path and focused on a spatially resolving, radiation-sensitive receiver arrangement 25 .
The phase hologram 18 'on the deflection mirror 14 thus bends the measuring light beam 23 ' to be reflected back from the working beam path and foams it on the receiver 25 . The phase hologram 18 'modulates a defined astigmatic wavefront component on the measuring light beam 23 ' in order to obtain the desired measuring characteristic.
The receiver arrangement 25 generates an output signal or output signals which are fed to an evaluation circuit 26 .
Jeder der Reflektionsflächen 28.i liegt ein Strah lungsempfänger 29.i gegenüber. As shown in FIGS . 3a and 3b, the spatially resolving, radiation-sensitive receiver arrangement has a reflector pyramid 27 with four reflection surfaces 28 .i. Each of the reflection surfaces 28 .i is opposite a radiation receiver 29 .i. As can be seen particularly well from FIG. 3b, each radiation receiver 29 .i only receives light that was reflected on the opposite reflection surface 28 .i. Fig. 3b clearly shows how the measuring light focused on the receiver surface 23 'on the reflector pyramid 27 is reflected in different directions so that each of the radiation receivers 29 .i receives only a corresponding portion.
In the receiver arrangement 25 described with reference to FIGS . 3a and 3b, thermoelectric wall sensors in particular are used as radiation receivers 29 .i thermoelectric wall detectors which, on the one hand, have a high bandwidth as so-called accelerated thermopile detectors and on the other hand can continuously detect a continuously occurring measuring light beam without a periodic interruption of the measuring light beam is required.
Instead of such a receiver arrangement 25 constructed from radiation receivers 29 .i and reflector pyramid 27 , a 4-square radiation receiver, for example a 4-quadrant photodiode 25 ', can also be used, as shown in FIG. 5. In addition, it is possible to use a photodiode array, that is to say a 2-dimensional arrangement of photodiodes, or else a photodiode array as the receiver arrangement.
The type of radiation receiver used essentially depends on the wavelength of the working light and on the desired measurement accuracy. A particularly high measurement accuracy for the focus position is achieved with a 4-quadrant receiver with astigmatic measurement characteristic, as was explained with reference to FIGS . 3a and 3b and 5. The use of thermopiles is particularly useful for CO 2 lasers.
strahl 23' moduliert.
Strahlungsempfänger 29.i, also der einzelnen Strahlungsempfänger 29.1,
29.2, 29.3, 29.4 durch die folgende Gleichung:
First, the operation of the device according to the invention for determining the focus position is explained. If the measuring focus 24 as well as the working focus 21 on the surface 22 of a workpiece to be machined, the measuring light beam 23 'is reflected back to the focusing mirror 20 , and then runs as a plane wave back to the measuring hologram, which has a defined astigmatic wavefront component on the measuring light beam 23 'modulated. The point image 23 "focused on the receiving surface of the receiver arrangement 25 , that is to say on the reflector pyramid 27 , remains symmetrical when the focus is accurate, as shown in FIG. 4b. The deviation or the distance Δz of the working and measuring focus 21 or 24 from the The workpiece surface 22 is then zero. If the surface 22 of the workpiece to be machined moves relative to the working focus 21 by Δz, this leads to a shift in the astigmatic point image 23 "at the location of the reflector pyramid 27 , since the measuring light wave reflected on the surface 22 of the workpiece unites contains additional spherical portion. The reflector pyramid 27 is then closer to one of the two astigmatic focal lines, so that there is an elliptical shape of the point image 23 ″ generated by the measuring light beam 23 'on the reflector pyramid 27 , as indicated in FIG. 4a or 4c. The ratios of the intensities, ie the coming on the individual reflection surfaces 28 .i of the reflector torpyramid 27 coming portions of the point image 23 "result in a measurement signal that the shift .DELTA.z corresponds to the focus position relative to the surface 22 . The measurement signal S results from the output signals I 1 , I 2 , I 3 , I 4 of the radiation receivers 29 .i, that is to say of the individual radiation receivers 29.1 , 29.2 , 29.3 , 29.4, corresponding to the respective intensities, using the following equation:
This measurement signal S can already be formed in the receiver arrangement, in order to then be applied to the evaluation circuit 26 . However, it is also possible to apply the output signals 11 to 14 of the radiation receivers 29.1 to 29.4 to the evaluation circuit 26 and to carry out the calculation of the measurement signal S in the evaluation circuit 25 . The distance Δz results from the measurement signals S by means of a corresponding calibration. In particular, the shift Δz is proportional to the measurement signal S.
A control signal A is then formed from the measurement signal S, which is fed to a tracking device which ensures that the actual focus position, that is the actual focus position, is brought into agreement with the target focus position on the surface 22 of the workpiece.
Although it is fundamentally conceivable to move the entire processing head in order to adjust the focus position, the adaptive mirror 19 is used according to the invention, the reflecting surface of which can be deformed in such a way that it imparts an additional concave or convex spherical component to the incident light wave. In this way, the focus position can be adjusted almost without delay. Changes in the focus position can be achieved here so quickly that deviations of the actual focus position from the target focus position can be compensated for in the millisecond range.
Another possibility is to move the focusing mirror 20 with respect to the processing head with the aid of an adjusting device 30 indicated by dashed lines in FIG. 1, so as to regulate the focus position, without the need to move the entire laser processing head.
