Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method and device for the treatment of Microorganisms and pollutants contaminate liquids and will used for the purification and biological disinfection of these waters.
There are already a number of publications covering the disinfectant and describe the sterilizing effect of electrolysis (for example EP 0 175 123 B1, DE 34 28 582 A1, SU 1 583 361). Here a number occur of mechanisms of action that have so far been used in their treatment effect could not be quantified separately. An essential one The effect is the formation of oxygen radicals (e.g. WO 97/11908) attributed to that, as with the addition of ozone (EP 0 577 871 A1) disinfection, detoxification, flocculation and leg pain flow of lime scale (WO 97/11908, WO 85/01965) leads. Also direct oxidation of the germs by electron withdrawal upon contact with the Anode surface of the electrode and the indirect oxidation of the germs nascent oxygen (EP 0175 123) are mentioned.
A metal frequently used in electrolysis is titanium, which due to its affinity for oxygen in the surrounding atmosphere always has a thin passivating layer of titanium oxide. Titanium dioxide as a ceramic or ceramic layer is used as a catalyst in many chemical processes. In this application, most of the property right publications listed above also attribute a catalytic effect to titanium dioxide, which is to be increased by adding various elements. For example, the addition of ruthenium dioxide (RuO 2 ) is recommended (SU 1 583 361), the formation of calcium or magnesium titanates (FR 2 697 950 A1) and the addition of iridium and cobalt (WO 97/11908) are described.
However, all of these methods are based on the fact that a titanium is formed on the metal Layer is applied, which contains titanium dioxide. Only in the Publication WO 85/01965 is, however, for a reversible electrode for other (electrochemical) purposes, especially for an electro flotation, a sub-stoichiometric titanium oxide compound on a precious metal (TiO2-x) applied. In the patent right publication EP 0175 123 become titanium, activated titanium, as well as platinum, iridium and ruthenium mentioned, although the amounts to be sterilized are very small (a few liters / day).
The publication of the patent right DE 34 28 582 is also used for production of hydroxyl radicals preferably electrodes made of titanium, niobium, tantalum and Zirconium or its alloys are used, but with lead oxide or coated with manganese oxide.
The said layers, however, bring about an adhesion Substrate with significant problems. For example, if the layer is through mechanical stress damaged, which is relatively quick when applied can happen, the substrate itself comes with the one to be treated Liquid in contact, and is from this, possibly even up to the dissolution, attacked. In the technologies for applying the layers, flame or plasma spraying (WO 85/01965), as well as in direct oxidation (WO 97/11908) porous, possibly cracked layers cannot be removed close or not to avoid, the first not mechanically very secondly, the substrate is not safe against the electrolyte seal and thirdly difficult to reproducibly measurable physical Have properties. Furthermore, the metal substrates used relatively expensive materials and a coating always an additional and thus cost-intensive process step.
In summary, the disinfectant effect, the Flocculation and influencing the lime scale of the electro catalytic effect of the titanium oxide is attributed. The listed Publications differ from the principle only in how a Cell structure with a layer containing titanium dioxide as an anode electrical power can be supplied.
The invention has for its object with microorganisms and / or Liquids contaminated with pollutants also reliably in large quantities high yield and reproducible to clean, the treatment procedure as low as possible, universally applicable and in a wide range Limits can be influenced and to the given operating conditions and - Requirements are customizable and the device has a long service life as well as chemical-physical resistance.
(z. B. Schleifemulsionen, Sand- oder sonstige feststoffhaltige Suspensionen),
und anderes mehr behandelt werden. Titanoxidkeramik ist außerdem in einer
Auswahl genormter Materialeigenschaften, wie beispielsweise Festigkeit und
elektrische Leitfähigkeit, herstellbar, die definierte, konstante und
reproduzierbare technisch-physikalische Eigenschaften und damit sehr
zuverlässige Anwendungen gestatten.
According to the invention, the liquid to be treated flows through a preferably tubular vessel, the vessel wall and possibly a pipe center conductor for an electrocatalytic treatment of the fluid with a negative electrical potential and the anode of at least one annular or disk-shaped anode element arranged in the vessel in a flow and pressure-safe manner compact and electrically conductive titanium oxide ceramic are subjected to the corresponding anodic voltage potential. This electrode structure leads to inhomogeneous fields with high field densities that run perpendicular to the direction of flow of the liquid to be treated, which results in efficient penetration and oxidation. In addition to the accumulation of atomic oxygen in the liquid caused by the electrocatalysis, this is filtered by the anode arrangement, possibly in cooperation with other sieve elements, in particular fastening, mounting and insulation elements for the anode, so that the vessel is simultaneously oxidized - and filtering effect on the flowing fluid. The filtration is expediently effected by a defined porosity of the at least one anode element made of titanium oxide ceramic itself. The titanium oxide ceramic thus fulfills a double function, which shows surprisingly good treatment results:
On the one hand, the material is durable compared to the titanium layers mentioned at the beginning and often described in the literature and to be applied to substrates, insensitive to abrasive or corrosive damage to the anode, and thus robust and universally applicable with a long life expectancy of the device. By means of suitable and known manufacturing processes, a compact, sub-stoichiometric titanium oxide ceramic can be produced, which has a sufficiently high conductivity, so that the ceramic itself can be used as a wear-resistant electrode with excellent chemical and thermal resistance. The use of this material is therefore possible in very acidic as well as in very basic liquids, for example, saline or other chemically contaminated as well as abrasive liquids (e.g. grinding emulsions, sand or other solids-containing suspensions), and others be treated. Titanium oxide ceramics can also be produced in a selection of standardized material properties, such as strength and electrical conductivity, which allow defined, constant and reproducible technical-physical properties and thus very reliable applications.
On the other hand, the anodic titanium oxide ceramic is next to yours electrocatalytic effect filtering the liquid, so that in the same course of treatment at the same time u. a. Precipitation and eventual Crystallization of the electrocatalysis caused by the titanium oxide, as well as other suspended matter in the liquid can be countered.
The sintering technology of the ceramics enables a very good one Production of porous rings or disks, mesh sizes of any Size up to ultrafiltration can be realized. By itself known ceramic shaping processes, such as pressing, extruding, Injection molding, (pressure) slip molding etc. is made from the starting powder a preform (green body) is produced, which may be mechanical can be edited, e.g. B. Drilling holes. This way and Larger channels can be introduced in this way. This includes itself Sintering process above 1200 ° C. By making sacrifices phases, such as organic binders, or organic phases, such as graphite fibers, defined pore channels can be created, which is also due to the Use of blowing agents, such as hydrogen peroxide, is possible. With different grain and particle sizes of the starting powder Adjust microporosity up to a graded structure in the Anode elements themselves, i.e. an increasingly fine porosity. The Application of a nanoscale layer, for example by the known one Sol-gel technology also allows the creation of nanoscale pore structures.
The anode elements made of titanium oxide ceramic can therefore also be defined selected technical parameters (diameter, thickness, shape, porosity etc.) can be cascaded in the tube so that it can be selected and selected technical-physical tailored to the respective application Effects for both electrocatalytic and filtering treatments Determine the resulting liquid and by exchanging Also have anode elements changed. So that the procedure and the device can be used for many applications and modifiable. Because the ceramic elements are high temperature stable and are radiation-resistant, they can be sterilized without any problems and so also for Pure applications are used.
It is advantageous to use the tubular vessel with the titanium oxide ceramic Filtrieroxidationseinheit in a process-controlled application in which the Liquid is moved through the vessel by one or more pumps integrate. The pump power and thus the filtering effect as well as the electrical parameters of the titanium oxide catalysis are then dependent the measured flow rate controlled. Again, the procedure can through the defined selection and the technical-physical properties the titanium oxide ceramic can be influenced specifically. Are detachable Connections in the structural arrangement of the titanium oxide ceramic elements useful for handling and universal reasons.
It is also advantageous to use it in cooling water circuits in which biological stresses in particular occur. The partially open construction Versions and modes of operation offer for the microbiological Growth very good conditions, which depending on the load too large Cause problems for the operators. So the heat transfer deteriorate gears on the plate exchangers, the pipes are partially clogged and in addition to the general health risks, there is bio-corrosion. For Mitigating these problems will result from technological, economic and material-specific aspects, microbiocides are increasingly used. The Depending on the application, microbicides temporarily inhibit a biological one Growth. The use of microbicides is in accordance with the continuity relatively expensive and effective in terms of resistance, the addition possibly other necessary conditioning agents as well as applicable Environmental protection legislation, limited. By adding the inventions inventive filter oxidation unit after the condensate storage Cooler, and a forced cooling water condensation circulation, by means of Pump and circulation line in the condensate storage, the biological pollution without the addition of microbicides in the cooling water reduced. The effectiveness of cooling water purification depends on that Throughput or the consumption of the cooling water condensate. So that one efficient cleaning according to the amount in the condensate cooling water tank can be realized, the inflow and outflow water volume is current determined by means of flow meter and the circulation circulation as well the current through the filter oxidation unit by means of the control unit regulated.
The constant circulation of the cooling water condensate through the filter oxidation unit can be a general reduction in biological Allow loads without the addition of microbiocides. This will reduced operating costs, reduced manual labor and the Operational reliability of the systems increased. In principle, several can be used Filter oxidation units are operated in parallel or cascaded.
The invention will now be described with reference to one in the drawing Embodiment will be explained in more detail.

In Fig. 1, a filter oxidation unit is shown as a sectional view, which consists of a cylindrical tubular vessel 1 with a metallic vessel wall 2 and through which a liquid 3 to be treated flows (indicated by arrows for reasons of clarity). The metallic and thus electrically conductive vessel wall 2 is electrically connected to an electrode 4 . In addition, the electrode 4 is electrically connected to a tube center conductor 5 , which is arranged in the tube axis of the vessel 1 and is subjected to the same (cathodic) electrical voltage potential as the vessel wall 2 . The tube center conductor 5 is supported by four concentric titanium oxide ceramic disks 6 which are seated transversely in the vessel 1 and are each electrically decoupled from the tube center conductor 5 by an outer insulation ring 7 to the vessel wall 2 and by an inner insulation ring 9 . The insulation rings 7 , 9 are dimensioned according to the inner tube diameter and the size of the titanium oxide ceramic discs 6 , so that there is a flow and pressure-stable structure in the vessel 1 .
In addition, axially symmetrical lined up in the vessel 1 titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 , which are mechanically connected to the titanium oxide ceramic disks 6 and are held by them. The titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 each have an electrically insulating outer spacer ring 11 for positioning . An electrode 13 guided through the vessel wall 2 in an insulation sleeve 12 is electrically connected to the titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 and applies an anodic voltage potential to the vessel wall 2 and the tube center conductor 5 . The titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 typically have a specific electrical volume resistance between 1 × 10 3 and 1 × 10 6 Ωcm (depending on the manufacturing process); however, values below 100 Ωcm can also be achieved. The direct current flowing through the anode (titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 ) is adjusted in accordance with the contamination properties of the contaminated liquid 3 so that - essentially through the catalytic action of the titanium oxide - only atomic oxygen is generated, which in turn forms hydroxyl radicals and forms a multi-stage reaction Oxidation of organic compounds. This electrode structure leads to inhomogeneous fields with high field densities, which run tangentially to the direction of flow of the liquid 3 , which results in an efficient penetration and oxidation. The titanium oxide ceramic disks 6 and the titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 are also specifically porous, so that the liquid 3 in the vessel 1 flows through them. In this way, the oxidation is effected with a simultaneous filtration of the liquid 3 . According to the number, the diameter, the pore structure and the thicknesses of the titanium oxide ceramic disks 6 and titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 used and depending on the flowing current, the liquid throughput and the degree of cleaning can be determined.
The positioning of the system is carried out by holding washers 8 , e.g. B. from polyethylene or polytetrafluoroethylene, which may also have an additional filtering effect. Likewise, further filtering or screening elements (not shown in FIG. 1) could also be arranged in the anode region of the vessel 1 .
The anode of the filter oxidation unit for the formation of atomic oxygen in the liquid 3 (electrocatalytic effect) consists of highly resistant and for many purposes suitable electrically conductive titanium dioxide ceramic (substoichiometric TiO 2-x ), which has material properties such as strength, porosity, electrical Conductivity, can be manufactured and typed in a standardized selection. This enables the filter oxidation unit to be used in a specifically selectable, permanently stable and, above all, reproducible manner in relation to the respective application. It is therefore also advantageous if the titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 are fastened in a detachable connection (for reasons of overview not shown in FIG. 1) and are therefore interchangeable for process-related process changes. The cleaning of the filter elements (the porous titanium oxide ceramic disks 6 and titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 and the sieve-like insulation rings 7 and retaining disks 8 ) is carried out by increasing the pressure of the liquid movement in countercurrent. The titanium oxide ceramic is stable to high temperatures and resistant to radiation and can therefore be easily sterilized.
Fig. 1) zu verändern. In FIG. 2, the Filtrieroxidationseinheit (vessel 1) is shown in a circulation system with process control. The liquid 3 to be treated (cf. FIG. 1) reaches a storage vessel 15 via a pipe 14 , from which it is conveyed through the vessel 1 by a pump 16 . The cleaned liquid is removed via a tube 17 or returned to the storage vessel 15 via a tube 18 . Flow meters 19 , 20 are arranged in the tubes 14 and 17 and are connected to inputs of a control unit 23 via electrical lines 21 , 22 . Depending on the flow rates, it is possible to control the pump power of the pump 16 via a line 24 and via a line 26 connected to a controllable power supply 25 , the electrical characteristics of the electrocatalytic oxidation in the vessel 1 via electrode leads 27 , 28 for the electrodes 4 , 13 (see FIG. 1) to change.
In principle, especially for large flow rates, it is possible (not shown in the drawing) to operate several filter oxidation units (vessel 1 ) in parallel or to arrange them as a cascade.
In FIG. 3, selected examples of the geometric design of cascaded titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 are shown. Fig. 3a shows the formation of a simple ring or disc shape. In this case, a number of cascaded titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 (according to the representation of FIG. 3 lying one above the other (cf. also FIG. 1 with a row shown side by side) must be positioned or held by additional elements, for example the spacer rings 11 shown in FIG. 1. Figs. 3b-3e titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 in cup-like design with difference union jointing structures, such as a groove, milled, cone, phase, bead, bead, etc., and accordingly paßförmiger counterparts other for receiving titanium oxide ceramic rings 10. On the basis of these joining structures, which can take a variety of forms, the titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 to be cascaded engage one another and thereby fix or stabilize themselves. In the drawings - without the jointing structures are limited to - FIG. 3b shows the formation of a recess 29 and a collar 30, Fig 3c above and below each one phase 31, Figure 3d has an annular groove 32 and an annular cutting edge 33 as well as Fig 3e... Inner and outer cones 34 , 35 . Figs. 3f and 3g show examples of geometric shapes to form the start or end pieces, which are adjacent to the large-area support as possible to the shown in Fig. 1 titanium oxide ceramic discs 6 (with upper and lower sides in Fig. 3F or 3g shown titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 ) and thus allow the titanium oxide ceramic rings 10 to be held together and positioned. Such possibilities for self-positioning improve a form-fitting contact and thus also reduce the risk of point loads. This leads to pressure loads and the reduction of bending loads which are generally unfavorable for ceramics.
