Die in Fig. 1 dargestellte Waschmaschine besitzt in bekannter Weise einen Laugen behälter (1), in dem eine Trommel (2) zur Aufnahme von Wäsche drehbar gelagert ist. Andere Gewichtssensoren, beispielsweise Dehnungsmeßstreifen, können ebenfalls verwendet werden. Der statische Anteil des Lagesensor (11)-Signals wird von der Mikroprozessor-Steuerung (8) zur Bestimmung des Wäschegewichts ausgewertet und beispielsweise in einer in den Zeichnungen nicht dargestellten Gewichtsanzeige angezeigt. Der dynamische Signalanteil wird in bekannter Weise von einer in der Mikroprozessor-Steuerung integrierten Auswerte schaltung (A) ausgefiltert und zur Sensierung des Schaumaufkommens im Laugenbehälter (1) herangezogen. Der Vergleich der Signale zeigt, daß die durch den Wäschefall und das Reversieren der Trommel (2) bedingten Signalschwankungen vom Schaum nahezu vollständig gedämpft werden. Somit kann die Auswerteschaltung (A) durch Ermittlung der Standardabweichung des dynamischen Signalanteils ein vermehrtes Schaumaufkommen im Waschgang sensieren. Ist dies der Fall, werden anschließend im Schleudergang das Drehzahl profil im Schleuderhochlauf hinsichtlich Höhe und Beschleunigung an die ermittelte Schaum menge angepaßt. Außerdem können hierdurch bedingte Laufzeit-Verlängerungen bei der Anzeige der Programmlaufzeit (nicht dargestellt) berücksichtigt werden.
