Abstract
Description
Coenzyme Q 10, also called ubiquinone due to its ubiquitous distribution, is one low molecular weight component in the electron transport of the respiratory chain. This is one in the Mitochondria of the cells localized biochemical chain reaction, in the course Electrons are gradually transferred to oxygen. Q 10 functions in this Chain reaction as an electron-transferring link between the flavoproteins and the Cytochrome. The adenosine triphosphate (ATP) formed in the reaction is the most important Body's energy source. Because of the structural similarity to vitamins E and K and its essentiality, Q 10 is partially equated with vitamins. Besides these Coenzyme Q 10 has long-known properties in energy metabolism and acts as an antioxidant in the lipid phase. Recent studies show that the organism during physical exertion, Stress or in old age has a higher Q 10 requirement, and that supplementation with Q 10 makes sense.
Already in 1971 it could be proven that the gums of patients who were under Periodontal disease, lack of coenzyme Q 10. Periodontal disease is understood to mean a degenerative disease of the tooth retention system, which prevents the teeth from Bone tissue reduced. In the final stage, this leads to a loss of teeth. The Regular administration of Q 10 reduces the depth of the gum pockets and the frequency of bleeding gums. The progression of periodontitis can be delayed.
Because of the beneficial effects of a Q 10 supplement on the The body's own energy metabolism now has a large number inside preparations to be taken (Vivivit, Bic-Qinon Q 10 and others). However, since with periodontitis If gums are poor at Q 10, targeted local therapy can be assessed more favorably than an unspecific oral dose. About the side effects of long-term systemic Little is known, so local application also has a higher therapeutic value Security can be expected.
In fact, Hanioka et al. in a placebo-controlled study show that the local Treatment with ubiquinone on periodontosis has a positive effect. A Q 10 solution, however, as used in this study, has a short residence time on the Mucous membrane of the gums. Viscose preparations (e.g. gels, Adhesive pastes) and especially systems with a delayed release of active ingredient (e.g. Lozenges, lozenges, mucosal patches).
The invention therefore relates to formulations which delay coenzyme Q 10 in the Give up oral cavity. These include lozenges, adhesive pastes and plasters that over stay there for several hours and release the active ingredient. These systems can, must but not, be fixed directly on the gums affected by periodontitis. This Systems according to the invention are able to locally concentrate Q 10 in a high concentration to let diseased tissue take effect. Those skilled in the art know from those given below To produce examples according to the prior art corresponding samples.
