Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a method for vaccinating a deoxidized cast iron melt with nucleating agents for the production of cast iron with lamellar graphite and a cored wire.
The crystallization of technical cast iron with lamellar graphite depends on germs in the production of high-quality castings. These are stimulated from the outside via the so-called heterogeneous nucleation catalysis by adding so-called inoculants based on ferrosilicon. The nuclei required for the crystallization of lamellar graphite generally consist of silica (SiO 2 ), which should be solid and saturated. Due to the high supersaturation of the melt with silicon required for the formation of silicic acid, the melt itself has to be germinated. Alumina (Al 2 O 3 ) was considered to be particularly suitable for this purpose, the proportion of which in the total oxide spectrum of cast iron should be at least 5 ppm. It has been demonstrated that inoculation ferro-silicon must contain at least 1% Al in order to be germ-active.
The practice of making cast iron with Lamellar graphite based on steel scrap shown that the alumina in the steel is not in the It is able to germinate the silica. That is based on the fluctuating contents between 5 to 30 ppm of Aluminum bound oxygen. The by the low Increased oxygen activity in steel Oxygen solubility in liquid iron allows this aluminum brought in by the inoculant to the dissolved oxygen only in fluctuatingly limited Scope. The vaccination effect fluctuates accordingly so that the microstructure of the castings does not depend on known starting point within wide limits. This also applies to the so-called late vaccination to avoid the known decay effect not in a ladle, but only in the pouring stream or in the pouring channel is done because there is the kinetic Sometimes the conditions for the formation of the clay completely missing.
The invention is based on the object in favor nucleation for the crystallization of Lamellar graphite and primary austenite in gray cast iron one undisturbed formation of silica at all times guarantee.
This object is achieved in that a melt of the melt during casting Magnesium and silicon in one for nucleation sufficient amount is added. Magnesium is there preferably in an at least partial binding of sufficient free oxygen in the cast iron melt Amount of vaccine mixture added. It is preferred an amount of 25 to 100 ppm by mass of magnesium.
For dilution or better dosing of The amount added is preferably iron in the vaccine mixture added. The iron can advantageously in Form of the master alloy FeSi added to the inoculation mixture become. Magnesium can also be in the form of a Master alloy, in particular FeSiMg, with a nominal 5 to 25 Mass% Mg are added to the vaccine mixture.
The method according to the invention solves the problem Task. Due to the addition of magnesium in one the free oxygen in the cast iron melt coordinated amount becomes the oxygen activity reduced and there is an undisturbed formation of Nucleation by the for the crystallization of Lamellar graphite and primary austenite in gray cast iron required silica. A breakdown of oxygen there is no salary. It will only be sufficient Amount of magnesium oxide formed to be trouble-free To allow formation of silica.
Another object of the invention is microalloying elements largely undisturbed by high oxide and / or Nitride formation in elemental form come into effect to let. So far, microalloying cast iron has been little known because of the contribution of small parts Elements such as boron, titanium, vanadium or zirconium, very difficult due to their affinity for oxygen or was impossible. So it happens that when adding such microalloying elements in the melt their effect in elementary but in oxidic and / or nitride form was in the foreground. At the Microalloying with titanium can lead to the formation of hard Carbonitrides at a disadvantage with regard to the Machinability.
By inoculating the melt with magnesium and one Micro alloying element succeeds in doing that Microalloy element before binding to oxygen, To protect nitrogen or sulfur and put it in to bring elementary form to effect. At the The output increases with increasing proportion of micro alloys Magnesium from 50 to 90%.
The invention also includes a co-addition of Magnesium with silicon and one or more Microalloying elements. The vaccine mix is included preferably metered into the trough and is in one Cored wire included.
For conditions of high-speed drilling of cylinder liner liners, the graphite must, if possible, be completely in the randomly distributed form (A-graphite). The number of eutectic grains must be greater than 500 / m 2 . If this is not the case, material breakouts from the surface and increased oil consumption of the engines result. These conditions can be met when using the method according to the invention.
By using roller tappets instead of cup tappets, the valves of an internal combustion engine can be controlled "harder" in favor of low pollutant emissions. While the hard surface layer of the cams produced by the TIG or ESR remelting process always showed pitting under new, more stringent conditions, the eutectic grain number could be increased from 500 to over 2000 / cm 2 and the length of the primary austenite dendrites with the aid of the method according to the invention from an average of 0.4 to 0.1 mm and the graphite flakes from an average of 1 to 0.015 mm. These parameters, which are important for the remelting kinetics, increased the carbon content of the camshafts from 3.1 to 3.2% to 3.4 to 3.5%, thus increasing the proportion of Ledeburit formed during remelting at the expense of primary austenite.
