Description
The invention relates to a method for producing a high carbonized, niobium-alloyed gray cast iron alloy according to the generic term of claim 1 as high for commercial vehicle brake discs Wear resistance and thermal conductivity is needed. DE 195 45 611 C1 deals with such a lamella Gray cast alloy for brake discs with a long service life and high mechanical and thermal stress for heavy commercial vehicles. In addition, the invention relates to the Use of a cored wire according to the preamble of claim 6. Such cored wires are for example of their kind known from DE 40 33 183 A1 or from DE 42 36 727 A1.
Compared to passenger cars many times over heavier commercial vehicles (commercial vehicles), especially for long-distance trucks or construction site vehicles, the lifespan expectations are we considerably higher than in the car sector. Here is a lifetime in Range of several hundred thousand kilometers for one brake drum expected before a necessary renewal. The alloys of the braking current that has been common in commercial vehicles are because of the much lower specific demands levels compared to brake discs not used for these bar. Rather, it had to have its own for commercial vehicle brake discs Gray cast alloy can be developed and optimized. This is at for example in the aforementioned DE 195 45 611 C1 of the former Co-applicant found.
This gray cast iron alloy containing niobium fulfills the requirements for wear and fire crack resistance, but it offers certain problems when alloying the high-melting niobium. So far, niobium can only be alloyed to iron in an electric furnace be sufficient by reducing the iron or gray cast iron alloy high temperature is heated so that the niobium melts and alloys with the base material. Except that not every gray foundry has an electric furnace, should be with the foundry Foods that have one or more electric ovens, at least an electric furnace for alloying the brake disc alloy be placed. Incidentally, the operation of an electric oven by sonically intensive and with wear on the brick lining bound, which makes the maintenance of the electric furnace expensive. Attempts to add the niobium in the pouring jet did not result in any ak acceptable results. The niobium distribution was too uneven, namely not homogeneous.
From JP 6-116676 A it is known to use a ductile, i.e. H. glo bulitic, niobium-containing gray cast alloy the niobium in one Add iron / niobium master alloy. Due to the composition of the Alloy should have a high damping property. Due to the special method of administration of the alloy partners in The production of the alloy is said to be in the form of master alloys simple and a carburizing process can be avoided. That means tet that a certain otherwise required carbon content is substituted by the other alloy partners. It works in this state of the art, the substitution of Koh lenstoff by other alloy partners. In contrast, it works addressed in the generic part of the present claim 1 Chen alloy around such gray cast iron alloys that the graphite should contain in lamellar form for tribological reasons.
Die Stickstoff-bin denden Metalle sind somit als Legierungsmetalle für die unmit telbare Beeinflussung der Eigenschaften des Werkstoffes zumin dest weitgehend verloren.EP 693 336 A2 discloses a method for producing a high-carbon, including niobium-containing gray cast alloy for Brake discs or brake drums, in which in three different Steps. In a first stage, stick carburizing agent containing iron to certain Target material values (thermal conductivity, hardness, modulus of elasticity) set kohls. In a second step, the carburized Gray cast iron melt with the alloy metals chrome, copper, nic alloy and molybdenum alloyed with moderate contents. In a third Level are using various nitrogen bin with little use dender metals - u. a. also niobium - hard carbonitride crystals excreted from the gray cast iron alloy, which later became finely dispersed are contained in the basic structure of the casting. With this three-step process is not in the nitrogen binding step only nitrogen, but also carbon and nitrogen binding metal bound in the carbonitride. The nitrogen bin ending metals are thus as alloy metals for the immit noticeable influence on the properties of the material least largely lost.
The object of the invention is to demonstrate a method such as Ni whether in gray cast iron alloys, without depending on an electric furnace to be pointed, effectively alloyed and at the same time the strength the alloy can be increased beyond the usual level.
This object is achieved according to the method of the invention by the characterizing features of claim 1 and with respect of the alloying aid or its use by Features of claim 6 solved.
In the method according to the invention, the niobium is called ferroniob (FeNb) or as a niobium master alloy in granular form under inten active circulation with the melt of the gray cast iron master alloy brought into contact. Here, the niobium is approximately expanded kale winding a hollow, wire-shaped alloy aid with tels, a so-called. cored wire, introduced into the melt, which the niobium granules - in a quasi-endless strip of an egg Senbleches rolled up like a longitudinal seam tube - at about constant niobium occupancy per unit length of the alloying aid contains. Due to a gradual melting of the egg The niobium granulate is only wrapped around the bottom of the Badober area released to the melt. Even the intense revolution the melt takes place through the same winding process. By doing Cored wire used according to the invention are namely next to the Niobium granules also contain propellant gas particles that are under Gases evolve half of the melt surface in the heat of the melt celee, release or split off. With the propellant gas particles can z. B. flame coal and / or plastic granules, especially polyethylene. Because of the intense bath movement and the large contact area between niobium granules and Melting of the gray cast iron master alloy is progressively increasing loosen the niobium granules even below the niobium enamel point bath temperature causes, because in the environment of each niobium granule moving relative to the melt absorbable gray cast iron melt is present. In this way it is possible to effectively use the niobium even in a ladle alloy. The time and intensity of the strong bath movement agrees with the absorption of the niobium into the melt and the homogeneity of the alloy.
Due to the type of niobium addition according to the invention, an Fe Increase in strength and increase in hardness up to 35% compared to one Addition of niobium in the electric furnace for the same basic analysis of gray cast iron alloy can be achieved. This increase in strength allows it, especially in gray cast iron alloys for brake discs, the Koh and the silicon content with the same strength increase. A high carbon content is necessary to achieve one better thermal conductivity desired and a high Siliciumge halt causes a good graphite formation. Alloying the So niobium allows an increase in thermal conductivity and E-module by carburizing, which in turn increases the risk of fire cracking can be reduced.
What is new here is the alloy metal itself, namely the niobium Granules and the propellant gas particles in a uniform filling wire into the melt together. It is here moreover, it is particularly important that the turbulence already during the addition of niobium is present. In this regard, the underlying one Task of an unproblematic addition of niobium also by the Features of claim 6 with respect to a corresponding training loosened the cored wire.
The so-called "wiring" is easy when alloying melting magnesium in cast iron alloys for spherulitic Separation of the carbon contained is known per se however, this fact could not give the expert any suggestions for offer, high-melting niobium more effective to cast iron alloy as in the electric furnace. Also cored wires that are covered with blowing are filled with gas particles and when they are wired into the melt Turbulence is caused, for example, by the literature cited at the beginning is known per se. Except LPG particles can also be used in these cored wires action of the melt may be included. The cored wire according to DE 40 33 183 A1 contains not only the propellant gas particles but also gra Nulated calcium carbide for the calcium treatment of steel and possibly also calcium silicon. With the from the already mentioned DE 42 36 727 A1 known cored wire are used by the in the Melt released propellant caused turbulence Homogenize the melt, especially when alloying. At the This cored wire can contain iron powder as a passive filler his. Such fillers can be used for reasons the manageability predetermined minimum thickness of the cored wire Occupancy density per unit length with propellant gas particles lower choose and the secondary particle supply and thus the Intensi the turbulence is more precisely due to the feed speed of the Measure or regulate the cored wire into the melt. This font also mentions the possibility of using microalloying elements such. B. Titanium, molybdenum, boron or others to be included in the cored wire men and these elements when winding the cored wire into one To be able to alloy with the melt. Iron niobium or a niobium However, alloys are not mentioned as wire fillings.
In contrast to the prior art recognized above according to JP 6-116676, which deals with the substitution of coal material passes through alloy metals, the present Gray cast alloy as high a carbon content as possible strives; by adding niobium the carbon can be absorbed speed of the gray cast iron alloy can be increased.
From DE 42 36 727 A1, the person skilled in the art takes that through a bath movement, which is achieved by spooling one with gas-releasing Particles of filled cored wire is generated in the melt, the melt homogenized or refined or cooled or with Micro alloying elements such as B. titanium, molybdenum, boron or whose can be alloyed. However, this is not an indication ben that an improvement in the alloy properties in the present extent is achievable. A considerable climb strengthening of the alloy by the inventions Alloy production in accordance with the strength egg property of a conventionally manufactured alloy had to Surprise specialist; he had no reason to do so che increase of the alloy property only due to egg ner homogenization of the melt.
The following is a process example with reference to FIG Drawings explained; show:

The arrangement shown in Fig. 1 for alloying niobium in egg ne gray cast alloy is very simple and uses tried-and-tested components which, however, are put together in the sense of the invention in a new combination and for a new purpose.

Alloying of the niobium takes place in a ladle 1 , in which a measured melt quantity of a gray cast iron alloy is filled and which - apart from the niobium - already contains all the alloy constituents required for the desired gray cast iron alloy. According to the knowledge of the applicants, a gray cast iron alloy with the following composition (details in% by weight) has proven to be optimal for the use of the gray cast iron alloy for casting commercial vehicle disc brakes with high wear and fire crack resistance:
Carbon: about 3.95%,
Chromium: about 0.15%,
Silicon: about 2.20%,
Manganese: around 0.70%
Copper: about 0.15%,
Remainder iron, traces of other alloy metals and melting-related iron companions such as phosphorus, sulfur or the like. Like. Each with an individual content of at most about 0.06% by weight and a total content of these additional alloy metals of altogether a maximum of about 0.3% by weight. The alloy metals mentioned - apart from niobium - can be easily and precisely alloyed by pouring granulated alloy metals into the melt jet.
About 0.25% by weight of niobium should be added to the ladle in the melt 2 pre-alloyed in this way. According to the invention, a wire-shaped alloying aid 3 is used for this purpose, which covers the niobium in granular form at approximately constant Ni per unit length of the alloying aid, for. B. 100-200 g / m contains. The granulated niobium is contained in the alloying aid as FeNb or as a niobium master alloy. The granulate 5 is rolled into a quasi-endless strip of a sheet iron 4 in the manner of a longitudinal seam tube.
It is important that the melt 2 is intensively circulated during the addition of niobium, so that a high relative movement takes place between added niobium granules and the surrounding melt and the granules rapidly dissolve in the melt. The aforementioned Umwäl zen happens by introducing gas below the melt level in the form of propellant gas particles that develop, release or split off gases in the melt heat. The propellant gas particles are also contained in the wire-shaped alloying aid 3 . Dried granulated flame coal and a granulate made of polyethylene, for example, were used as propellant gas particles.
The wire-shaped alloying aid 3 is delivered on a spool 6 , which in the arrangement shown is made available rotatably on a spool stand 7 . The spool is a little stiff so that it has no tendency to run. A wire drive 8 with a feed tube 9 , which is directed downward into the melt, is integrated in the coil carrier. By means of the wire drive, the wire-shaped alloying aid is drawn between two slowly motor-driven friction rollers and is pulled off the coil at a defined speed and passed into the melt via the feed tube. The control of the electromotive wire drive is designed so that a certain unwinding length can be preset and the drive automatically stops after supplying this length. The length to be set must be calculated according to the amount of melt, the desired niobium content of the melt and the niobium occupancy per unit length of the cored wire. With a melt amount of, for example, 0.75 tons in the ladle and a desired niobium content of 0.25% by weight, 1.875 kg of niobium must be added. With a niobium occupancy of - assumed - 100 grams per meter of alloy "wire", about 18.75 m of alloy "wire" must be spooled in for metering in the stated amount of niobium.
When the wire-shaped alloying aid is wound approximately vertically into the melt, the iron coating 4 gradually melts and releases the niobium granules and, if appropriate, the propellant gas particles only below the melt surface into the melt. The rate of addition should be chosen so high that the iron coating of the alloying aid has only melted significantly below half the melt surface. The faster the winding takes place, the deeper is the area in which the "wire" coating has dissolved in the melt. By spooling the wire-shaped alloying aid into the ladle, the melt bubbles up intensely and quickly dissolves the niobium granulate that has been introduced; at the same time, the niobium is evenly distributed in the ladle contents by the circulation movement.
