The present invention is a tire for bicycles and similar vehicles, in which one or more of canvas or the like is arranged between the tread and the air hose are, the latter covered with a mass of granular or powdery material are, for the purpose, the nails penetrating into the tire, glass splinters or the like. Of the keep the actual air hose away. Such tires are already known per se; it the subject of the invention differs from these known designs by the material, from which the granular or powdery mass applied to the intermediate layers consists. Up to now a mixture of emery and ground steel has been used for this purpose, which is applied to the jacket with rubber cement or rubber solution and at the same time with it was vulcanized. This shows the problem, that the grained steel is not completely enveloped by the putty by Bubbles form in the support strip during vulcanization. The steel and emery particles are therefore only partially retained and loosen completely with continued use of the tire, so that they rub against the inner and outer shell as well as against each other and thereby the tire damage and loosen other particles. You already have the protective strips soaked with a mixture of alcohol, ether, resin and rosin. Such However, the insert becomes hard and brittle in a short time, as the solvent evaporates quickly and by the constant pressing in and springing back of the tire during use, these protective inserts are quickly destroyed will. These disadvantages are avoided according to the present invention in that the canvas inlays with a mass of powdery or granular vegetable matter Ivory can be covered with the help of rubber cement. If they were treated like that Insoles are now vulcanized together with the tire, as the vegetable ones show Ivory particles as a result of the action of heat and pressure the tendency to become to unite with the rubber and with each other, maintaining their previous granular structure lose completely and form a homogeneous protective cover cohesive with the tire cover.
The damaging friction occurring in the previously known embodiments is reduced so here completely gone.
In the accompanying drawing, FIGS. 1 and 2 show the subject matter of the invention in two embodiments, namely shown in the application with an ordinary bicycle tire and with one with a double air tube.
Derjenige Theil des Schlauches, welcher mit dem Boden in Berührung kommt, ist nun verstärkt durch die zwischengelegten Stücke d, welche ebenfalls aus Segeltuch oder ähnlichem Stoff bestehenIn the first-mentioned embodiment (FIG. 1), α is the actual air hose, around which one or more layers b of canvas or similar material are located. The whole is enclosed in a known manner by the tread c. That part of the hose which comes into contact with the ground is now reinforced by the interposed pieces d, which are also made of canvas or similar material
Of course, you can just as easily cover the outer j as the inner side of the fabric strips d with this compound. If granular material is used, it must be applied in several layers, and the individual particles must be arranged in such a way that a pin or broken glass which may penetrate from the outside cannot penetrate between them.
The tire shown in Fig. 2 consists of the actual air tube e and the tread, which is composed of two parts, the inner tube h and the outer cover g , between which are layers of fabric j made of canvas or the like. Here, too, the actual running surface is reinforced by specially inserted strips k made of canvas, drill or the like, which are covered with granular or pulverized mass in the manner already described. On the side facing the rim, as can be seen from FIG. 2, the outer casing g is equipped with flanges or tabs which engage in the corresponding recesses in the rims.
