The invention relates to a method for producing color direct positive images as well a color photographic material for carrying out the method.
The invention is based on the knowledge that the quality, in particular the color density of color images, made from a color photographic material having a Contains silver halide emulsion, which is able to form predominantly latent internal grain images, and color couplers which is developed with an alkaline color developer which is one of a primary aromatic amine contains existing developer when developing in the presence of a nitrogen-containing compound of the general formulas:
R — NH — NH — R1 (I)R - NH - NH - R 1 (I)
R — NH — N = R2 (II)R - NH - N = R 2 (II)
durchgeführt wird, in denen R einen Arylrest, R1 einen Acyl- oder Sulfonylrest und R2 einen Alkylidenrest bedeutet.is carried out in which R is an aryl radical, R 1 is an acyl or sulfonyl radical and R 2 is an alkylidene radical.
The color photographic material developable by the process of the invention has such Direct positive emulsion which has a substantial proportion of silver halide, which is predominantly within the halide silver grain is capable of forming latent images. Such emulsions are e.g. B. in the German patent specification 1 095 115, where It should be noted that the method of the invention is particularly in the context of the German patent 1 095 115 described method can be used, although the method is not one of them depends on whether diffusible or non-diffusible dyes are produced in the color photographic material will.
Geeignete »Innenkornbilder« bildende Emulsionen sind solche, die, auf einen transparenten Schichtträger aufgetragen, nach einer Belichtung von 0,01 bis 1 Sekunden und einer Entwicklung von 3 Minuten bei 200C in dem unten angegebenen Entwickler A eine maximale Dichte ergeben, die mindestens fünfmal größer ist als die Verfahren zur Herstellung von farbigen Direktpositivbildern mit Hilfe einer Farbkuppler enthaltenden Direktpositivhalogensilberemulsion und photographisches Material hierfürSilver halide emulsions, which thus predominantly form latent inner grain images within the individual super halide grains and thus differ from emulsions which contain silver halide grains which predominantly form latent images on the surface thereof, can furthermore be defined on the basis of the greater maximum density if the emulsions in question with developers of the "inner type" instead of "surface type developers". Suitable emulsions forming “inner grain images” are those which, applied to a transparent layer support, after exposure for 0.01 to 1 seconds and development for 3 minutes at 20 ° C. in developer A given below, give a maximum density of at least is five times greater than the process for producing color direct positive images with the aid of a direct positive halide silver emulsion containing color couplers and photographic material therefor

As described in Example 1, a gelatin silver chlorobromide iodide photographic emulsion having a high internal grain sensitivity and a low surface sensitivity was prepared. The emulsion was divided into several portions and various color couplers and, as hydrazide, the compound: 1- [2- (2,4-di-tert-amylphenoxy) -5- (3,5-disulfobenzoamido) benzoyl] -2-phenylhydrazide was added added to the emulsion portions concerned. In order to determine the effect of the hydrazide addition, emulsion portions which did not contain any hydrazide were also prepared. Each individual emulsion was coated on a cellulose acetate support in such a way that 100 mg of silver, 200 mg of gelatin, 100 mg of coupler and 5 mg of the hydrazide amounted to 0.09 m 2 . The color films obtained were then exposed on an intensity scale sensitometer as described in Example 1, whereupon developed and the color image formed was transferred to an image receiving sheet in that the exposed color film together with a receiving sheet was immersed in the developer described below for 5 seconds and then was pressed at about 2O 0 C to the respective image-receiving sheet 4 minutes. The image-receiving sheet was then removed again from the ink film and the dye density of the positive image formed on the receiving sheet was determined. The improved dye densities obtained by adding hydrazide to the emulsions can be seen from the data summarized in Table D below.

As summarized in the table above 5 As can be seen from the data provided, the hydrazide increased the dye densities of the cyan, magenta and yellow images are essential. If, moreover, ordinary emulsions with surface sensitivity in particular used in place of the emulsions with essentially internal grain sensitivity and When these emulsions were developed as described, complete fogging of the color films occurred.

Die erhaltenenAs described in Example 4, a color film was produced which contained 50 mg of the cyan coupler 1-oxy-N- [delta - (2,4-di-tert-amylphenoxy) butyl] -2- on a 0.09 m 2 surface. naphthamide and 50 mg of the hydrazide, 1- [2- (2,4-di-tert-amylphenoxy) -5 - (3,5-disulf above-zamido) benzoyl] -2-phenylhydrazide. For the purpose of comparison, a similar color film was also produced, but which did not contain any hydrazide additive. The color films formed were then developed as described in Example 4. Therefore, since the cyan coupler used here does not form a diffusible dye, a positive color image was not transferred to the image-receiving sheet either. The reverse image obtained was then fixed in sodium thiosulfate solution and then bleached in potassium ferricyanide solution in the usual way. The density of the blue-green images of the slides produced in this way with and without hydrazide in the emulsions were determined using a sensitometer. The received

Color films were produced as described in Example 4, except that no hydrazides were incorporated into the emulsions in question. The cyan, magenta and yellow couplers from Example 4 were incorporated separately into the individual color films produced. The resulting films were then exposed on a Intensitätsskalensensitometer described as in Example 1, together with polished image-receiving sheets 5 seconds immersed in the below-described developer E and pressed out for 4 minutes at about 2O 0 C to the receiving sheets. The relevant receiving sheet was then removed from the ink film and the dye density of the positive images on the receiving sheets was determined. Each of the color films obtained was developed once with the developer E described below alone and another time with the addition of 0.3 g per liter of the developer of 1-phenylsulfonyl-2-phenylhydrazide. The increased dye densities resulting from the addition of hydrazide in the developer used can be seen from the data compiled in Table G below.

Developing the received multi-layered photographic materials was conducted by mixing the materials in question and the photographic image-receiving sheets, the cationic mordant: dimethyl-beta-oxyäthyl-alpha- (octadecylamido) -propylammoniumdihydrogenphosphat contained, for 20 seconds were immersed at 2O 0 C in the Developer , whereupon the respective materials and the image-receiving sheets were brought into close contact for 5 minutes and then separated again. A positive, full-color image had formed on each of the receiving sheets. The enhanced -Dmaz color values obtained using the hydrazide, as determined on a Kodak Model 31A sensitometer, can be seen from the data summarized in the table below.

The hydrazide used in this example was prepared as follows: 102 g of 2- (2,4-di-tert-amylphenoxy) -5 dissolved in 500 ml of glacial acetic acid were added to a solution of 27 g of phenylhydrazine and 21 g of sodium acetate in 1 l of glacial acetic acid -nitrobenzoyl chloride added. The resulting mixture was stirred for 1 hour, then filtered and the filtrate poured into 4 l of water. The precipitated, brown, solid product was dried and recrystallized from ligroin, 70 g of yellowish-brownish-colored 1- [2- (2,4-di-tert-amylphenoxy) -5-nitrobenzoyl] -2-phenylhydrazide having a melting point of 131 ° to 134 ° C was obtained. This material was reduced by dissolving 70 g of the same in 500 ml of ethyl acetate and adding 2 g of 10% palladium on charcoal and treating with hydrogen under 3 atm. The solvent was evaporated in vacuo to give 65 g of 1- [2- (2,4-di-tert-amylphenoxy) -5-aminobenzoyl] -2-phenylhydrazide, melting at 157-159 ° C. This material was acylated with 45 g of 3,5-dichlorosulfonylbenzoyl chloride by refluxing in 11% dry acetonitrile for 2 hours. The acetonitrile was then removed in vacuo, leaving a light brown solid material which was recrystallized from ligroin-benzene. 57 g of 1- [2- (2,4-di-tert-amylphenoxy) -5,3,5-dichlorosuü ; onylbenzamido) benzoyl] -2-phenylhydrazide. The latter was refluxed for 2 hours in 500 ml of methanol with the addition of 6 g of sodium acetate and then the methanol was evaporated. A brown-colored solid material remained, which was then digested with ethanol. The solid material was separated and dissolved in 500 ml of 75% aqueous methanol and the solution was made acidic with hydrochloric acid. The deposited precipitate was dried and digested with methanol, whereby 20 g of the desired product, namely l- [2- (2,4-di-tert-amylphenoxy) -5 - (3,5 - disulf above-zamido) - benzoyl] - 2 - phenylhydrazide were obtained.

The close contact brought. Thereafter, the resulting solution containing the hydrazone and the photographic materials were separated again, then on a stained image-receiving sheet as in the case, with positive, full-color images on the sheets 8 in a 100 mg gelatin / 0.09 m 2 and 10 mg des 3 ° were held. For comparison purposes, the ver-hydrazine (in the form of the hydrazone) was removed from 0.09 m 2 without the hydrazone in the sheet, and the appropriate amount or layer thickness was applied when the hydrazone was used in the sheet. Similarly, other hydrazones containing increased Z> max color values are produced from those in gelatin solutions by showing 2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 ml of formalin 35, respectively, in place of the oxy-gum data compiled in Table M below. Similar results were obtained, or a sufficient amount of mucochloric acid, when the hydrazones in the photosensitive emul- and benzaldehyde were used for reaction with the hydrazine, which is the basis for the photographic materials themselves.
