Description
Use of an alloy based on tantalum, tungsten or molybdenum As a material for the production of heating conductors The invention relates to the use a high-melting alloy as a material for the production of heating conductors in High-temperature ovens which, when used in the temperature range from 1400 to 2000 ° C do not become brittle with high creep resistance.
It is known in the incandescent, radio tube, and x-ray tube industries Structural elements, in particular heating conductors, radiant and shielding plates, etc. made of molybdenum, Use tungsten and, more recently, tantalum. The heat conductors made of molybdenum and tungsten, however, has the disadvantage that it rises after annealing for several hours Temperatures of around 1400 to 2000 ° C become very brittle due to recrystallization. Due to mechanical stress, e.g. B. by touching the heating conductor with the Annealing material and mechanical vibrations are therefore very easy to break Heating conductor. Compared to the molybdenum and tungsten heating conductors, heating conductors have off Tantalum has the advantage that, after a longer annealing period, it can also be used at temperatures above 2000 ° C remain ductile, but tantalum heating conductors have the disadvantage that they are a have comparatively lower creep resistance. It therefore occurs with tantalum heating conductors to unpleasant plastic deformations, passages, etc.
It is known that additions of tungsten and molybdenum reduce the strength, Increase the hardness and electrical resistance of tantalum. It was therefore already suggested tantalum with additions of tungsten and molybdenum up to 10 atomic percent to use for filaments. Against this has been the practical use of tantalum alloys with more than 10 atomic percent tungsten or molybdenum because of their difficult processability not yet considered.
The invention, which the disadvantages of the known molybdenum, tungsten and remedies tantalum heating conductor, consists essentially in the fact that the inventively used Alloy 10 to 900/0, preferably 40 to 70% tantalum and the remainder 90 to 10%, preferably 60 to 30'0 / a tungsten and / or molybdenum contains.
The alloys used according to the invention are, if processed properly Sufficiently cold and hot deformable in a wide range of alloys. Heating conductor off Alloy compositions which are very difficult to process can also already be brought to a shape by the pressing and sintering process, that of the final comes very close. The alloys also have high electrical resistance and have good heat resistance properties, especially good creep resistance, even after prolonged annealing treatments in the temperature range from 1400 to 2000 ° C, none Recrystallization embrittlement.
In the case of tantalum heating conductors, it is also very often perceived as a disadvantage, that tantalum embrittles through the absorption of hydrogen and furthermore a very high one Has affinity for carbon and nitrogen with formation of carbide and nitride. The alloys of tantalum with tungsten used according to the invention and / or Molybdenum has these phenomena to a much lesser extent. An alloy from tungsten or molybdenum with about 10 to 15 '% tantalum can, for. B. as heat conductor material be used in high-temperature furnaces that use hydrogen as a protective gas.
According to a further feature of the invention, the invention alloys also used other transition metals from IV. to VI. group of the periodic table, with which they are almost without exception completely miscible will. It is an addition of 10 to 40% of one or more the metals chromium, vanadium, niobium, titanium, zirconium, hafnium at the expense of the content of tungsten and / or molybdenum. The resistance of the inventively used 1164 675 whose Alloys can be increased in a favorable manner by these additions.
As a particular advantage of the alloys used according to the invention has been found that the welded joints of these alloys with the own material and with tantalum and niobium rods and sheets z. B. excellent are ductile and show no recrystallization embrittlement. This benefit can especially with complicated heating conductors and combinations of heating conductors with the power connection terminals are used.
The following are examples of alloys used in the present invention cited. The term "parts" refers to parts by weight.
Example 1 By mixing 70 parts of tantalum with 30 parts of tungsten, Pressing and sintering this alloy in a high vacuum becomes a cold ductile material manufactured that can easily be formed into wires, strips and sheets. Even after several hundred hours of annealing at 2200 ° C. there is practically no embrittlement. Example 2 From a powder mixture of 50 parts of tantalum, 20 parts of niobium, 15 parts A press rod is made of tungsten and 15 parts of molybdenum, which is in a vacuum sintering from 10-5 to 10-s Torr at about 2400 ° C. This alloy still shows a relatively good cold formability, but can be advantageous at temperatures Process from 300 to 400 ° C into semi-finished products. This material has proven particularly useful as Tried and tested heating conductors in the temperature range from 1800 to 2000 ° C. Example 3 By high vacuum sintering a powder mixture of 50 parts of tantalum, 10 parts of niobium, 10 parts of chromium and 30 Parts of tungsten produce a sintered rod that has a relatively poor cold ductility having. The sintered rod is re-pressed and hot under inert gas at around 800 ° C again subjected to sintering in a high vacuum at 2300 ° C. After the double The material can be sintered relatively easily by forging and rolling thermoforming and processing into heating conductors.
