PATENTSCHRIFTPATENT LETTERING
KLASSE 42: Instrumente.CLASS 42: Instruments.
Firma CARL ZEISS in JENA. KompaFs-Peilvorrichtung. CARL ZEISS company in JENA. KompaFs direction finder.
Patentirt im Deutschen Reiche vom 28. Dezember 1898 ab.Patented in the German Empire on December 28, 1898.
In the case of bearing devices on compasses, it depends on the ones falling in the bearing direction Part of the horizontal rose protruding from the edge of the compass box and that or to make the object located above the horizon visible at the same time. One has this Hitherto sought to meet the requirement in such a way that one looks through an inclined mirror the image of the division of roses (or that of the object) in the field of vision of the object (resp Images appear separately on top of each other. A converging lens is maintained over the rose to be arranged so that the eye of the observer approximates the picture of the rose division . perceives the distance of the object and the view without changing the accommodation can wander from one image to the other. A sight device with vertical The ocular slit and the vertical objective thread are used to determine which part of the line is the Rose falls into the vertical plane of vision through the Object geht.de. These However, it is always inconvenient to make a statement because of the separate position of the two images and as a result, uncertain and imprecise.
Patentschrift 65849).According to the present invention, this deficiency is eliminated by making the inclined Makes the mirror surface at the same time weakly transparent and changes its position in such a way that that the image of the division of the rose (or of the object) reflected by it and that through it The image of the object seen through it (or the division of the rose) lie on top of one another, so that the Mefsstrich in question for determining the angle runs directly through the Coverage of the object and the visor mark with it results. Mirror surfaces from the above Characteristics are of the genus known under the name "camera lucida" commonly used by drawing devices, it can also be used instead of a uniformly transparent a completely opaque mirror surface is needed, but that of a non-reflecting one transparent surface parts is interrupted in uniform distribution (see patent specification 65849).
Der Index ersetzt das sonst gebräuchliche Diopter mit senkrechtem Ocularschlitz und senkrechtem Objectivfaden mit Vortheil, da sein Bild in derselben grofsen Entfernung wie dasjenige derFig. 1 shows in the simplest form a direction finding device improved according to the described invention, which is to be thought of as being firmly connected to the rotatable compass box. With a horizontal direction of vision, as indicated by the eye shown in full lines, the inclined transparent mirror α not only allows part of the light coming from the object to enter the eye without being deflected, it also partly throws into it the rays from the lens b generated, infinitely distant virtual image. In addition to part of the graduated edge zone c ° of the rose c , this image also includes a fixed index d, which in the present case is carried by the compass socket e , but must be connected directly to the bearing device if it is rotatable about the compass axis, which But box e is firmly mounted. The index replaces the otherwise common diopter with a vertical ocular slit and a vertical objective thread with advantage, since its image is at the same great distance as that of the
Rose becomes visible while using the rear sight device because of the proximity of the Diopter thread not only requires repeated changes of accommodation, but also the image of the division of roses, which appears to be far away, but not seen through the diopter if the eye position is inaccurate, an equatorial shift against the through the thread seen in the ocular gap must show.
If, as the dotted eye shows, we look down perpendicularly at mirror a , we have the other main arrangement of the direction finding device, in which the mirror throws the rays coming from the object into the eye and the division of roses is in the direction of the sight.
If a fixed telescope is inserted between the eye and the object, the mirror a is best placed between the ocular lenses, then the index d can advantageously be replaced by a mark in the focal plane of the telescope.
In order to be able to point the instrument at objects which are considerably above the horizon, a second rotating mirror has already been used. You could also like with other angle measuring instruments two mirrors, one rotatable, for the same purpose and a fixed one, and thereby cancel the mirror inversion of the image. the Mirrors can of course be replaced by mirror prisms. Even the one with the Inclined plane equipped with the double property of reflection and transparency can be arranged as a separation surface for prisms, e.g. B. by, as with the Abbeschen stereoscopic microscope ocular a very thin plane-parallel layer of air between includes both prisms.
An embodiment of the new direction finding device with a second rotatable mirror and the last-mentioned prisms separated by a very thin layer of air is shown in FIG. The can e is again assumed to be rotatable about its axis and therefore both the carrier a ° of the direction finding device and the pointer d are firmly connected to it. The lens b is cemented onto the rear prism a l. Opposite the entrance surface of the front prism a 2 , the mirror f is rotatably mounted in the carrier a ° , the rear side of which is expediently covered with a plate of black glass. If, owing to the predominant brightness of the object, the picture of the division of the rose and the pointer is difficult to see, one may turn the mirror 180 ° and then obtain a weakened mirror image of the object from the outer surface of the black glass. In the illustrated position of the entrance and the mirror surface of the front prism a? the latter area is to be provided with silver coating.
