The products produced according to the invention are suitable as adhesives for bituminous compositions used in the production of asphalt pavements be mixed with mineral aggregates.
It is known that the coating and adhesive properties of bituminous Compositions when mixed with mineral additives for manufacturing of asphalt road surfaces can be improved by adding certain chemical agents. The use of these agents enables the use of wet aggregates the production of plaster mixes so that dry aggregates are no longer need to be available and delays in road construction are eliminated. Furthermore, the addition of these adhesives to the bituminous paving mixes makes it possible the use of hydrophilic aggregates that would otherwise not be usable. in the otherwise, the use of these chemical adhesives has been improved in this respect the stability of the finished, bituminous pavement brought about than it The tendency of the aggregate and the bitumen to close when exposed to water separate, diminish. These funds are therefore used to simplify asphalt road construction as well as improving the quality and lifespan of the finished pavement from To use.
In many cases it is customary to store the bituminous mixtures after their preparation at elevated temperatures of about 120 to 200 ° C. in tanks and to keep them in the liquid state so that the mixture can be easily removed without reheating, which would be necessary if the mixture is allowed to cool and solidify. The storage time can be up to 14 days. In other cases, asphalt or light bitumen are heated to 200 to 260 ° C before they are dispatched, so that the temperature on arrival at the destination has dropped to the temperature of around 150 to 175 ° C desired for the production of the paving mixture.
In general, the previously proposed adhesives cannot withstand such elevated temperatures; when exposed to such temperatures, they quickly lose their effectiveness and are of little value as adhesives. It has now been found that asphalt with the addition of suitable amounts of the compounds prepared according to the invention, usually 0.1 to 5 percent by weight, has the ability to effectively coat wet aggregates - and then its improved coating and coating properties even when exposed to elevated temperatures for a prolonged period Retains adhesive properties. It was found that the effectiveness of the compounds obtainable according to the invention sometimes increases when heated in the asphalt, which is probably due to the fact that compounds of the formulas III, IV and VI can still react with acid and react with the naphthenic acids present in the asphalt.
60 0/, vorhanden waren. In comparative tests with bitumen adhesives customary up to now, it was found that the compounds produced according to the invention are far more effective asphalt adhesives. The compounds obtainable according to Examples 1 a), 4 and 5 of the present invention and two previously conventional asphalt adhesive (which is known from Norwegian Patent No. 77915 N-Oleylaminoäthylamin and obtainable according to Example 1 of the USA. Patent 2,636,078 Product) were mixed with diluted asphalt and the mixtures applied to mineral aggregates. After immersion in water for 24 hours, the amount of coating remaining was determined. The effective minimum concentration for the products obtainable according to the invention was found to be 0.250 /, compared to 0.5 or 101, for the adhesives customary up to now. If the coating compositions containing these minimum concentrations of adhesives were heated to 163 ° C for 24 hours before being applied to the mineral aggregates and then tested as above, the coatings containing the products made according to the invention were 100 or -900 /, remained, while the coatings which contained the known adhesives, were only 40 or 60% present.
