Description
Aqueous pigment dispersion for the production of oil-in-water emulsions for textile printing. The organic pigments are hydrophobic in nature, their powders are generally difficult to wet with water, and their press cakes contain about 14 to 350/0 pigments and 65 to 86 % water .
For the production of strongly colored, aqueous pigment dispersions it is necessary to remove the pigment particles that are formed during the manufacture of the pigments, z. B. aggregated during the precipitation, pressing or drying of the press cake have to deflocculate again by dispersing.
Numerous methods and dispersants are in the literature for Treatment of pigment presscakes and powders has been suggested, however the abundance of the dyes in these dispersions, as they are currently on the Market are relatively low.
The present invention now relates to long-lasting aqueous dispersions of organic color pigments, which are characterized in that they are from 14 to 35 parts by weight of pigment, 65 to 86 parts by weight of water and a water-soluble one Fatty alcohol sulfate and / or hydroabietin alcohol sulfate in the form indicated below Crowd.
The preparation of such dispersions takes place by adding the mixture of water and pigment the fatty alcohol sulfate and / or hydroabietin alcohol sulfate is added and the resulting slurry is homogenized.
The above-mentioned dispersion is characterized by high color strength and color coverage the end. This is the use of fatty alcohol sulfates and / or hydroabietin alcohol sulfate as a dispersant. The sodium salts are particularly suitable. Their effect can be improved by adding small amounts of the usual Dispersants, such as sodium lignosulfonate, which may be partially desulfonated, Calcium lignosulfonate, sodium salts of alkylarylsulfonic acids, such as isopropyl or Isobutylnaphthalenesulfonic acid and the addition of small amounts of protective colloids, such as Casein or methyl cellulose.
Zur Hauptsache sind es: Phthalocyanine, Azopigmente, Küpenfarbpigmente und Ruß.The water-insoluble, water-insoluble, Organic pigments, with the exception of carbon black, are obtained by precipitation methods. They are used as filter press cake or dried as a powder. The main thing they are: phthalocyanines, azo pigments, vat color pigments and soot.
As a dispersant, for. B. the sodium, ammonium or triethanolamine salts the sulphates of lauryl, cetyl, oleyl alcohol or mixtures thereof or of hydroabietin alcohol in the form of dry powder or water-containing pastes of about 30%, the low one Containing quantities of inorganic salts as impurities.
The ratio of surfactant to pigment is very important. The alcohol sulfates are used in amounts of 9 to 20 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of pigment; For complete deflocculation of the pigment, at least 10, preferably 15 to 20%, are generally required. With the additional use of other dispersants, very good results are achieved with alcohol sulfate quantities of 4.5%. These auxiliary dispersants are used in amounts of 0.5 to 4, preferably 2%, based on the pigment content.
The protective colloids used are preferably 0.5 to 500 l, mostly about 1 % casein and about 1 to 10%, mostly 5%, methyl cellulose. Larger amounts of protective colloids can be added in special cases.
Heretofore, pigment-containing resin emulsions have been of the oil-in-water type with conventional dispersants, with comparable water-in-oil emulsions not competitive, as their coverage was at most half as large. With the New dispersions according to the present invention can now be pigment-containing oil-in-water emulsions produce that are superior to the known water-in-oil emulsions in terms of abundance are.
Dies trifft jedoch für Fettalkoholsulfate und/oder Hydroabietinalkoholsulfat nicht zu.Pigment press cake can in general by adding 1 to 2 "/ o of conventional dispersants, based on the pigment content, liquefy. This however, does not apply to fatty alcohol sulfates and / or hydroabietin alcohol sulfate.
Nachmahlung wie im Beispiel 1.In spite of this inferior action in liquefying the press cake, the claimed surface-active agents, if precise proportions are adhered to and if the working method is careful, allow superior dispersion of the flocculated pigment and thus optimum color yields to be achieved. It has already become known to produce dye liquors for textiles by dispersing a color pigment in the presence of a water-soluble urea-formaldehyde condensate with an aqueous fatty alcohol sulfate solution and then with a binder that is dissolved in a water-immiscible solvent processed into an emulsion. In comparison, color pigment dispersions according to the present invention, which are produced from color pigments and aqueous fatty alcohol sulfate solutions, optionally with the addition of further auxiliaries, but with the exclusion of any binder (resin), show superior properties in textile printing. The utilization of the pigment, as can be shown with the aid of the color strength of the textile prints, is much better, as is the brilliance of the textile prints; in addition, significantly more concentrated color pigment dispersions can be produced, which gives the consumer the option of producing prints of strong color in any gradation. Example 1 57.7 g of a 40% aqueous solution of sodium alkylnaphthalenesulfonic acid and 346.2 g of fatty alcohol sulfate paste with 30% sodium lauryl sulfate are added to 5450 g of phthalocyanine blue press cake (21.2%). After mixing, the mixture is not yet sufficiently fluid for grinding in a hammer mill. Therefore, 11.5 g of a condensation product of formaldehyde and naphthane sulfonic acid are also added. The completely liquefied mixture now consists of 19.69% blue pigment, 0.39% sodium alkylnaphthalenesolphonic acid, 1.77% fatty alcohol sulfate, 0.20% condensation product and 77.95% water. Based on the pigment, the content of sodium alkylnaphthalenesulfonic acid is 2 % and that of fatty alcohol sulfate is 9%. This slurry is passed through a disintegrator and optionally also through a colloid mill. . Example 2 The amount of 30% fatty alcohol sulfate paste increased to 692.4 g is added to 5450 g of the press cake used in Example 1 and 57.7 g of the solution of sodium alkylnaphthalenesulfonic acid. After mixing, the slurry becomes liquid; it is also sent through the disintegrator and optionally through the colloid mill. The suspension contains 18.63% blue pigment, 0.37% sodium alkylnaphthalenesulphonic acid, 3.35% fatty alcohol sulphate and 77.65% water. Based on the pigment, the calculated content is 2% sodium alkylnaphthalenesulphonic acid and 18% fatty alcohol sulphate. Example 3 Example 1 is modified as follows: 5450 g of press cake, 57.7 g of the solution of sodium alkylnaphthalenesulfonic acid and 173.2 g of the fatty alcohol sulfate paste, ie 2% of the first and 4.5% of the second component are used , based on pigment 100%. Full liquefaction is achieved with 17.25 g of the naphthalenesulfonic acid-formaldehyde condensation product. Post-grinding as in example 1.

The pigment slurries of Examples 1 to 11 are very suitable for the production of pigment-dye concentration in the form of oil-in-water emulsions, such as are described in German patent specification 1 041,002th After adjustment to the desired color strength with blend emulsions, the printing pastes give bright prints with excellent color yield and good washfastness. Complete deflocculation of the pigments is essential for this.
