P Λ T E N T Λ N S P P, fr C H E:The invention relates to an explosion-proof ventilation device for containers for the storage and transport of flammable liquids and gases with a housing which is covered by an annular grate and preferably a protective hood that is automatically released by the action of temperature, designed as an annular space and provided with an inlet nozzle. The invention is based on the object of designing such a device that the flame protection grate emits an amount of heat when a flame arises in an order of magnitude that the ring grate assumes a temperature which is below the ignition temperature of the gas-air mixture. According to the invention, this object can be achieved in that, when the annular space is open at the top, one or more fresh air ducts open into the space enclosed by the annular space and the annular grate. Such a construction creates an extremely powerful air flow under the action of a flame burning on the protective grate, through which the necessary intensive cooling of the surface lying in the air flow takes place. A ventilation device for containers with flammable liquids is already known, in which the supply of fresh air is used to cool the flame protection grate and to extinguish a flame that has formed. However, a constant flow of cooling air is not possible here; only after the flame has arisen is the fresh air duct cleared by melting a fuse. In addition, this known ventilation device, which works more slowly than the device according to the invention, has a relatively complex structure. The drawing shows an embodiment of a device according to the invention in longitudinal section with the protective hood removed from the housing in the state of the ignited outflowing gases and the plan view of such a device. 4 "The ventilation device advantageously consists of an inlet connector α with a connection for placing on the storage container and an annular space b, the 1 ring opening of which into the open air is covered by an annular grate c and the one below the annular grate c with one or more gas discharge channels d with the inlet connector α such is connected that between the inlet nozzle a and the annular space b, fresh air ducts e arise. The exiting gases rise from the container graining in the dashed arrow direction through the inflow nozzle α and through the ducts d into the annular space b, penetrate the annular grate c and escape into the open. If these gases ignite, then explosion-proof ventilation device for containers for the storage and transport of flammable liquids and gases Applicant: Braunschweiger Flammenfilter Leinemann & Co., Braunschweig, Frankfurter Str. 182 Robert Leinemann, Braunschweig, has been named as the inventor arises above the ring grate c a burn. Heat is emitted both on the outer and on the inner circumference of the annular grate c or on the inner and outer circumference of the annular space b. The inner and outer circumference of the ring grate c can be selected, taking into account the cross section required in each case, so that there is only such a short distance from the central flame zone to the inner and outer flame zone that good and rapid heat dissipation takes place. In addition, there is the essential advantage of the invention that a strong air flow through the fresh air ducts e and the inner opening of the ventilation device in the direction of the arrow is brought about by the flame temperature, which causes an intensive cooling of the surface lying in the air flow. As a result, the ring grate gives off so much heat that it assumes a temperature which is below the ignition temperature of the gas-air mixture. P Λ T E N T Λ N S P P, for C H E:
