Process for the preparation of new organotin compounds
the patent application A 17989 IVb / 12 o is a process for the production of new
Organotin compounds, being an organotin halide, an organotin oxide or a
Organostannonic acid with an ester of a monobasic mercapto acid with 2 to
6 carbon atoms and a monohydric alcohol is implemented. With the process products
1 to 3 valences of the tin are bound to the sulfur of the ester residue, while
the remaining valences are saturated with organic radicals.
It has now been found that new organotin compounds,
the excellent stabilizers for high molecular weight organic products containing halogens
are obtained when using an organotin mono- or dihalide or an organotin oxide,
where the organic radical is alkyl, aryl or a furfuryl or tetrahydrofurfuryl radical
is, with an ester of a glycol containing 2 to 6 carbon atoms and
a mercapto acid with 2 to 4 carbon atoms. As ester-forming mercapto acids
can be used thioglycolic acid, thiopropionic acid or thiobutyric acid,
as glycols, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, 1,4-butanediol and analogous compounds
with up to 6 carbon atoms.
If, for example, the ethylene glycol ester of thioglycolic acid is reacted with dibutyltin oxide, a product of the formula is obtained At the same time, however, the dimer of the above compound is also formed, which is represented by the following formula: It is clear that further polymerization can also take place in this condensation reaction.
Die Organozinnverbindungen, welche als Ausgangsmaterialien benutzt
werden, entsprechen den Formeln R, Sn 0, R2 Sn X2 oder R3 Sn X, worin R für Alkyl,
wie CH, CZHS, C,H9, C8H", C1zH2s, Aryl, wie C,HS, C H3 C, H" und die Furfuryl-
und Tetrahydrofurfurylgruppe steht. X bedeutet Halogen. The organotin compounds which are used as starting materials correspond to the formulas R, Sn 0, R2 Sn X2 or R3 Sn X, where R is alkyl, such as CH, CZHS, C, H9, C8H ", C1zH2s, aryl, such as C, HS , C H3 C, H "and the furfuryl and tetrahydrofurfuryl groups. X means halogen.
Analyse kontrolliert. The new products obtained according to the invention are light brown substances
gelatinous consistency. They are in many organic solvents, like
Ether, benzene and chloroform, soluble. Their composition was each through
Analysis controlled.
Produkte gleicher empirischer Zusammensetzung gebildet. Beispiel 1
vollständig in Lösung geht.

A 17 989 IV b/12 o.For the sake of simplicity, the formulas given below only represent the monomeric products. However, dimeric and higher molecular weight products of the same empirical composition are also formed in all cases. example 1 1 mol of 1,2-propylene glycol, 2 mol of thioglycolic acid and 100 cm3 of benzene, to which 0.3 g of p-toluenesulfonic acid have been added, are refluxed until 36 cm3 of water have azeotropically distilled off. 1 mol of dibutyltin oxide is added to the reaction product and the mixture is further refluxed until a further 18 cm3 of water have distilled off, the dibutyltin oxide completely dissolving. The reaction product is filtered from insignificant impurities and the benzene is distilled off. The residue is a jelly with a light brown tinge that is soluble in most organic solvents. Analysis: Sn S
found ........................ 25.2, 14.0;
calculated for C "H" 04S, Sn ...... 26.0, 14.1.
Example 2 The ethylene glycol ester of thioglycolic acid is reacted with dibutyltin oxide in a completely analogous manner. The work-up is carried out as in Example 1. The end product is similar to the product of Example 1 in every respect. Analysis: Sn S

Here, nitrogen is passed through to remove the H Cl formed. After filtering out small impurities, the benzene is distilled off. The end product is very similar in appearance and behavior to that obtained according to Example 1. Analysis: Sn S

The new compounds find the same application as the products of patent application A 17 989 IV b / 12 o.
