Description
The invention relates to an electrochemical cell, comprising at least one current conductor of a positive electrode, which is designed meandering between the outlet region of the at least one electrode stack of the electrochemical cell and the connection region to the positive terminal. The invention also relates to a method for producing such an electrochemical cell and to the use thereof.
Stand der TechnikState of the art
Electrochemical solid-state batteries usually comprise electrode stacks whose current conductors are individually welded in the form of arrester foils in a complex process to the respective terminal of the solid-state battery. These compounds are also susceptible to film breakage due to "breathing" of the electrochemical cell during loading and unloading. This is to be understood as meaning the change in the volumes and / or shape of the individual layers of the electrode stack, which is associated with the incorporation or release of the lithium ions or atoms from the positive or negative active material of the electrodes.
Offenbarung der ErfindungDisclosure of the invention
- (i) mindestens eine positive Elektrode, umfassend einen positiven Stromableiter, welcher die mindestens eine positive Elektrode elektrisch leitend mit einem positiven Terminal verbindet;
- (iii) mindestens einen Festelektrolyt, welcher mindestens zwischen der negativen und der positiven Elektrode angeordnet ist;
- (i) at least one positive electrode comprising a positive current conductor electrically connecting the at least one positive electrode to a positive terminal;
- (ii) at least one negative electrode comprising a negative current collector which electrically connects the at least one negative electrode to a negative terminal; and

Meandering means in this context that the current conductor in this area is longer than the distance to be bridged between the positive electrode and the positive terminal and the current collector in this area curved in the form of waves or loops and in particular has no kinks or edges.
Likewise, in one embodiment of the invention, the at least one current conductor of the at least one negative electrode between the connection region to the negative terminal and the exit region of the at least one electrode stack can be designed meandering.

The current collector of the positive electrode consists of at least one electrically conductive material. Suitable materials from which the current conductor can be formed are, for example, aluminum, copper, nickel or even alloys of these metals. In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, the current conductor is made of elemental (metallic) lithium. In this case, lithium is preferably both the active material and the material of the current conductor. The layer thickness of the current conductor is preferably not particularly limited and ranges, for example, from 1 to 500 μm, in particular from 5 to 200 μm. Preferably, the current conductor of the positive electrode is designed flat.

The solid electrolyte is characterized in that it comprises or consists of a material which is substantially solid at room temperature and at least at operating temperature has sufficient ionic conductivity to ensure the transport of ions, in particular lithium ions, between the electrodes. In addition, the solid electrolyte is not electrically conductive. In principle, all solid electrolytes known to those skilled in the art, such as, for example, ceramic solid electrolytes and / or polymer electrolytes, can be used in the electrochemical solid state cell according to the invention as the solid electrolyte. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the solid-state electrochemical cell comprises at least one polymer electrolyte. This preferably comprises at least one polymer and at least one conducting salt. Suitable polymers include polyalkylene oxides, such as polyethylene oxide (PEO) and polypropylene oxide (PPO), as well as copolymers thereof. Preferably, the polymer comprises a polyethylene oxide (PEO) and / or a copolymer of polyethylene oxide. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the polymer of the polymer electrolyte is identical to the at least one binder of the positive electrode of the electrochemical solid-state cell according to the invention. Suitable conductive salts are in particular lithium salts. The conductive salt may, for example, be selected from the group consisting of lithium perchlorate (LiClO 4 ), lithium tetrafluoroborate (LiBF 4 ), lithium hexafluorophosphate (LiPF 6 ), lithium hexafluoroarsenate (LiAsF 6 ), lithium trifluoromethanesulfonate (LiSO 3 CF 3 ), lithium bis (trifluoromethylsulphonyl) imide (LiN (SO 2 CF 3 ) 2 ), lithium bis (pentafluoroethylsulphonyl) imide (LiN (SO 2 C 2 F 5 ) 2 ), lithium bis (oxalato) borate (LiBOB, LiB (C 2 O 4 ) 2 ), lithium difluoro (oxalato) borate (LiBF 2 (C 2 O 4 )), lithium tris (pentafluoroethyl) trifluorophosphate (LiPF 3 (C 2 F 5 ) 3 ) and combinations thereof. These can each be used individually or in combination with each other. Preferably, the at least one conductive salt accounts for a proportion of 1 to 5 wt .-%, in particular 2 to 3 wt .-% of the total weight of the polymer electrolyte.
Furthermore, the solid-state electrochemical cell may optionally comprise at least one separator, which is arranged between the positive and the negative electrode. The purpose of the separator is to protect the electrodes from direct contact with each other, thus preventing a short circuit. At the same time, the separator must ensure the transfer of ions from one electrode to another. It is therefore important that the separator is electrically non-conductive, but has the highest possible ion conductivity, in particular with respect to lithium ions. Suitable materials are in particular polymers, such as polyolefins, polyesters and fluorinated polymers. Particularly preferred polymers are polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polytetrafluoroethene (PTFE) and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). Frequently, the solid electrolyte takes over the role of the separator, so that it is not necessary.
A unit comprising at least one positive electrode, at least one negative electrode and at least one solid electrolyte is referred to in the sense of this invention as an electrochemical solid-state cell. A large number of such electrochemical cells can be combined to form a solid-state electrochemical battery in which the current conductors of the positive electrodes and the current conductors of the negative electrodes are each electrically conductively connected to a positive or negative terminal. Each solid-state battery has a negative terminal and a positive terminal, wherein each terminal is or can be connected to a plurality of current conductors, which belong respectively to a positive electrode or a negative electrode of a solid-state electrochemical cell. At least the current conductors of all positive electrodes are designed meandering between the exit region from the at least one electrode stack and the connection region to the positive terminal. The exit region from the electrode stack is the region at which the electrodes are no longer surrounded by active material and / or electrolyte. Here, the current conductors are often designed smaller, for example in the form of so-called Stromableiterfähnchen, which serve only the connection to the respective terminal.
Films in the context of this invention are planar structures of a uniform chemical composition which can be delimited by the environment from its surroundings and whose greatest extent in two of the three spatial directions corresponds to at least ten times, preferably at least one hundred times, in particular at least one thousand times the extent to the third spatial direction.
In one embodiment of the invention, the positive current conductor is a metal foil, which is connected directly or indirectly to the positive terminal with a clamping connection. Preferably, the metal foil is connected with the clamp connection directly to the positive terminal. The connection of thin metal foils is usually difficult, especially in a mechanical process. Straight metal foils made of soft metals such as lithium tear particularly fast here. A clamp connection allows the bonding of metal foils, without these are mechanically stressed themselves. This gentle method is thereby supported by the meandering design of the current collector. The connection of the metal foil via a clamping connection can be achieved, for example, with the aid of a wave-shaped, corrugated or smooth clamping connector. In order to achieve the most stable clamping connection, a wave-shaped or corrugated clamping connector is preferably used.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the at least one negative current conductor is also a metal foil, which is connected directly or indirectly to the positive terminal with a clamping connection. For example, the negative current conductor is made of a copper foil or an aluminum foil.
In a particularly preferred embodiment, the positive current conductor is a metal foil which comprises lithium or a lithium alloy, in particular an alloy with alkali metals or alkaline earth metals, aluminum, copper and / or nickel.
- (i) mindestens eine positive Elektrode, umfassend mindestens einen positiven Stromableiter, welcher die mindestens eine positive Elektrode elektrisch leitend mit einem positiven Terminal verbindet;
- (iii) mindestens einen Festelektrolyt, welcher mindestens zwischen der negativen und der positiven Elektrode angeordnet ist;
- (i) at least one positive electrode comprising at least one positive current conductor electrically connecting the at least one positive electrode to a positive terminal;
- (ii) at least one negative electrode comprising at least one negative current conductor which electrically connects the at least one negative electrode to a negative terminal; and
- (iii) at least one solid electrolyte disposed at least between the negative and the positive electrodes;
The method according to the invention is carried out in such a way that at least one electrochemical solid-state cell, comprising the at least one positive electrode, the at least one negative electrode and the at least one electrolyte, is provided first. If a large number of electrochemical solid-state cells are to be used, they are advantageously combined into electrode stacks, wherein the connection points of the positive current conductors and the negative current conductors to the terminals (the so-called Stromableiterfähnchen) form each separately a stack. The stacked positive current conductors are then connected to the positive terminal of the solid state battery. This is done by means of a clamp connector, in particular by means of a wave-shaped, corrugated or smooth clamping connector, preferably a wave-shaped or corrugated clamping connector. Care should be taken to ensure that the current conductor of the positive electrode between the outlet region of the at least one electrode stack and the connection region to the positive terminal is designed meandering. This is achieved by the length of the positive current conductor in the region between the exit region from the at least one electrode stack and the connection region to the positive terminal being greater than the distance between the exit region from the at least one electrode stack and the connection region to the positive terminal.
In one embodiment of the method according to the invention, a multiplicity of positive current conductors from at least one electrode stack are combined to form a stack of positive current conductors and connected together directly or indirectly to the positive terminal by means of a clamping connection, so that each of the positive current conductors between the outlet region of the at least one electrode stack and the connection area to the positive terminal meander-shaped.
Preferably, the negative current is conducted in the same way as the negative current conductor, so that a meandering configuration is achieved here as well. The negative current conductors are preferably connected to the negative terminal with a clamp connection.
The solid-state electrochemical battery according to the invention advantageously finds use in an electric vehicle (EV), in a hybrid vehicle (HEV), in a plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV), in a tool or in a consumer electronics product. Under tools are in particular home tools and garden tools to understand. Consumer electronics products are in particular mobile phones, tablet PCs or notebooks.
Vorteile der ErfindungAdvantages of the invention
The solid-state battery according to the invention is characterized in that, due to the meandering design of the connection of the positive current conductors and / or the negative current conductors to the respective terminals, a change in the arrangement, the volumes and / or the shape within the solid-state battery during the charge cycles (so-called cell cycles). Respiration or swelling). The risk of tearing the current collector from the terminal is thus effectively reduced by simple means. In addition, the use of clamp connectors enables a rapid, gentle and cost-effective connection of the current collector. The method according to the invention can therefore be easily implemented. The use of lithium foils as active material and current conductor improves the conductivity by the elimination of other materials by the electrical resistance positive electrode decreases.
