Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a mixture of bisphosphites, to a process for the preparation thereof, and to their reaction with metals to mixtures containing complex compounds of the constitution isomeric bisphosphites and the metal, and their use as a catalytically active composition in hydroformylation reactions, as well as the hydroformylation reaction itself.
Each catalytically active composition has its specific advantages. Depending on the starting material and target product therefore different catalytically active compositions are used.

The disadvantage of bidentate and polydentate phosphine ligands is a relatively high cost, which is necessary for their presentation. Therefore, it is often not profitable to use such systems in technical processes. In addition, there is a comparatively low activity, which must be compensated by high residence times reaction technology. This in turn leads to undesirable side reactions of the products.

As pointed out by van Leeuwen, the symmetrical bisphosphites have not only higher selectivities, but also greater reactivity. In addition to the aim of high reactivity and n-selectivity with respect to the unsaturated compounds to be carbonylated, the stability - specifically the service life - of the catalytically active composition of respectively used metal, ligands and other components with activating effect with regard to the ligands used Bisphophite a constant task of research. This applies in particular with regard to olefin-containing mixtures, especially in the hydroformylation of mixtures of linear olefins.
In
In addition to the formation of the unwanted "poisoning phosphites", the phosphite ligand can also be degraded in the course of a hydrolysis reaction by the traces of water formed during the aldehyde condensation. A consequence of these degradation reactions of the ligands is that the concentration of hydroformylation-active rhodium complex species decreases over time and is associated with a loss of reactivity.
- 1.) high activity, and
- 2.) a high n-regioselectivity in terms of hydroformylation and
- 3.) a long service life.
A long service life means that the hydroformylation-active composition comprising the ligands, among other components, has a low tendency to degrade these ligands and / or the disintegration of these ligands into hydroformylation-inhibiting components, e.g. having the so-called "poisoning phosphites".
The object is achieved by a mixture comprising the compounds (Ia) and (IIa):
R1 ausgewählt ist aus -Me, -tBu, -OMe;
R2 ausgewählt ist aus -Me, -tBu, -OMe;
R3 ausgewählt ist aus -Me, -tBu, -OMe;
R4 ausgewählt ist aus -Me, -tBu, -OMe;
Mixture comprising the compounds (Ia) and (IIa): in which
R1 is selected from -Me, -tBu, -OMe;
R2 is selected from -Me, -tBu, -OMe;
R3 is selected from -Me, -tBu, -OMe;
R4 is selected from -Me, -tBu, -OMe;
on condition that,
in the case that R1 is R3, R2 is not equal to R4,
for the case that R2 is R4, R1 is not equal to R3,
and P can make further bonds.
Due to the prerequisites: in the event that R1 is R3, R2 is not equal to R4, in the event that R2 is R4, R1 is not equal to R3, it is excluded that all three biphenols are equally substituted. In the case of Ia, an asymmetric bisphosphite is present, whereas IIa represents a symmetrical bisphosphite. The mixture thus has a symmetrical and an asymmetrical bisphosphite.
In der Regel würde das unsymmetrische Isomer als Nebenkomponente vorliegen, da ausschließlich symmetrische Liganden in der Hydroformylierung eingesetzt werden,Normally, as pure as possible ligands are used in the hydroformylation reaction in the prior art, since the other isomer exerts strong negative influences on the overall performance of the system. In general, the asymmetric isomer would be present as a minor component, since only symmetrical ligands are used in the hydroformylation,
In
This is particularly advantageous because during ligand preparation, no further purification steps are necessary to obtain an isomer of 100% purity. This is particularly favorable because any further purification step in ligand production leads to an increase in the cost of the same. In Typically, various solvents are used for these purifications, and various purifications may be necessary, such as recrystallizations, which inevitably result in product losses. This, in turn, makes the ligand significantly more expensive to produce and, in turn, adversely affects the overall economics of a large scale process. Thus, it is particularly advantageous if it is possible to dispense with expensive purification steps and to use corresponding isomer mixtures in a large-scale hydroformylation process.

A particular advantage of the present invention resides in the use of the above-described mixtures (Ia) and (IIa), in particular (IIa) and (IIa), in the hydroformylation in that the inventive use of the mixture of the constitutional isophosphites instead of a pure Compounds a costly and costly separation of the constitutive compounds bisphosphites superfluous. The prior art expected a reduced reactivity and lower n / i selectivity due to the presence of the unsymmetrical bisphosphite (Ia), in particular its derivative (Ic). As disclosed in the subsequent hydroformylation experiments, the compounds bisphosphites (1Ia) and (2IIa) surprisingly have, in addition to high reactivities and n / i selectivities, a significantly longer service life compared with the bisphosphites known from the prior art.
Furthermore, the use of the mixture as a catalyst in a hydroformylation reaction of unsaturated compounds and their mixtures is claimed. The term "as a catalyst" is understood to mean that the compounds are used as ligands for a metal complex, which then catalyses the corresponding reaction.
These defined mixtures of the bisphosphites, consisting of the compounds of the formula (Ia) and (IIa), can be initially introduced, for example, directly at the beginning of a hydroformylation reaction. This procedure thus differs from the general procedure in a stability study, in which a defined isomer is presented and the other compounds form only in the course of the reaction.
Furthermore, a process for the hydroformylation of unsaturated compounds and their mixtures is claimed.
- i) einer zuvor beschriebenen Zusammensetzung,
- ii) eines Gasgemisches umfassend Kohlenmonoxid und Wasserstoff.
- i) a previously described composition,
- ii) a gas mixture comprising carbon monoxide and hydrogen.

Allgemeine SynthesevorschriftGeneral Synthesis Instructions
B) verschiedene Alkylamine Tabelle 4:
DMAB: Dimethylaminobutan
n.b.: nicht bestimmtAs can be clearly seen in Table 3, it is possible to control the isomer distribution of the two constitutional isomers (1a) and (2a) by the choice of the base or the corresponding amount of base. Thus, for example, it is possible to obtain a 1: 1 mixture of the two isomers (1a) and (2a) by using DMAP as the base at lower temperatures. B) various alkylamines Table 4:
DMAB: dimethylaminobutane

C) verschiedene Basenmischungen Tabelle 5:
DMAP: Dimethylaminopyridin
Pyr: PyridinAs can be clearly seen in Table 4, it is possible by the choice of trialkylamines as the base to obtain an isomeric mixture in which the asymmetric isomer (1a) with a purity of> 90% is present as the main component and the symmetrical isomer (2a) the corresponding Represents secondary component. Erfindungsgemäße Synthese des Liganden (3Ia) – Allgemeine Reaktionsgleichung Synthese des Phosphits (7) As clearly shown in Table 5, it is possible to control the isomer distribution of the two constitutional isomers (1a) and (2a) through the use of base mixtures and their corresponding base amount. It is thus possible to influence the isomer distribution of the two constitutional isomers (1a) and (2a) by the choice of base or base mixture used so that an isomer as Main component is present. By the choice of trialkylamines as the base, it is possible to obtain an isomeric mixture in which the asymmetric isomer (1a) with a purity of> 90% is present as the main component and the symmetrical isomer (2a) represents the corresponding secondary component. Since this mixture also shows a very good overall performance in the hydroformylation, further purification steps can be dispensed with. [a] Conditions: cis-2-butene, Rh (acac) (CO) 2 ([Rh] = 95 ppm), L / Rh = 6: 1, 40 ml of toluene,
Even with the use of a ligand mixture in which the ligand (1Ia) is contained only in a purity of about 30% (Table 6, entry 7) could still be generated a very good yield and selectivity. By using this mixture of compounds bisphosphites, consisting of ligand (1Ia) and (2IIa), the technical problem could thus be fully met and the corresponding aldehydes are obtained in good to very good yields and selectivities. It could thus be shown that ligand mixtures can also be used in hydroformylation reactions. The Rh precursor (Rh (acac) (CO) 2 ) and the ligand or the ligand mixtures are introduced into 40 ml of isononyl benzoate in an autoclave. The Rh concentration is 100 ppm based on the total reaction mass used. The excess ligand is molar 4: 1 based on rhodium. As a stabilizer, the compound (11) is added as amine in a ratio of 2: 1 to the ligand. As a GC standard, 0.5 g of 1,2,4,5-tetraisopropylbenzene is added.
The decrease in activity of the catalyst with the ligands biphephos and ligand (10IIa) is significantly stronger (Table 8, entries 1-4, 16-19) than with the ligand (11a) (Table 8, entries 8-11). It is noteworthy that the relative activity of the ligand (1Ia) after nearly twice the reaction time (Table 8, entry 11) is still more than twice that of the other two ligands after half the reaction time (Table 5, entries 4 and 19) ). Furthermore, the n / i ratio for the catalyst with the ligand (10IIa) is still very high.
Comparing the mixture of ligands (1Ia) + (2IIa) with the pure ligand (1Ia) (Table 8, entries 8-11, 12-15), the mixture shows comparable activity and selectivity to the pure ligand after 117 hours of runtime (1Ia). The mixture of the ligands (10IIa) + (9Ia) shows from the beginning a markedly poorer selectivity than the pure ligand (10IIa) as well as the mixture of ligand (11a) + (2IIa) (Table 8; entries 5-7, 12 -15 and 16-19).

In this case, ligand (100) was stabilized with the amine of formula (11).
The continuously operated pilot plant consisted essentially of a 20 liter pressure reactor with a downstream condenser and phase separation vessel (gas / liquid) for the gas phase originating from the reactor and a recycle gas compressor, which returns the gas phase from the phase separation vessel back down into the reaction zone , A part of this cycle gas is driven out of the reaction system as exhaust gas after the phase separation. In order to realize an optimal gas distribution in the reactor system, a gas distributor ring with holes was installed here. About installed heating and cooling devices, the reactor could be tempered. Prior to hydroformylation, the system was purged with nitrogen free of oxygen. Subsequently, the reactor was filled with 12 liters of catalyst solution.
This catalyst solution consisted of 12 kg of an eutectic mixture of biphenyl and diphenyl ether (Diphyl ®, heat transfer oil from. Lanxess), 3 g of Rh (acac) (CO) 2, 36 g bisphosphite ligand of formula (100), 67.5 g of amine of formula (11) and was previously mixed in a container. The eutectic mixture of biphenyl and diphenyl-vinyl ether (Diphyl ®) has been previously stripped with nitrogen to remove oxygen and water from the heat transfer oil. Subsequently, the reactor system was purged with synthesis gas free of nitrogen. After the nitrogen content had fallen below 10% by volume, the reactor system was pressurized with syngas to 1.0 MPa and then heated to 120 ° C. After reaching the operating temperature, the reactor system was brought to 1.7 MPa reaction pressure with synthesis gas. Then the addition of the starting materials was started. For this purpose, a feed mixture was run over an evaporator in order to drive it in gaseous form into the cycle gas. The feed mixture was a mixture of 35% by weight of 2-butenes and 1-butene in a concentration of about 1%. The rest was n-butane. The following throughputs were set: 0.3 kg / h feed mixture, 75 Nl / h synthesis gas (50 vol% H2 and 50 vol% CO) For the daily dosage of bisphosphite ligand (100) and amine (11) was a 1.4% Solution of the bisphosphite ligand (100) in n-pentanal, which was previously stripped by stripping with nitrogen of residual C4 hydrocarbons (<3%) was released. The amine (11) was used in a three-fold molar excess to the bisphosphite ligand (100). To better stabilize this solution, the amine (11) was added to the solution before the bisphosphite ligand (100). After about 1000 h, a stationary state was reached. The reaction products were continuously removed from the reactor via the circulating gas stream and partially condensed out in the condenser at 50 ° C. The condensed phase was continuously driven out of the phase separation vessel. To determine the sales, samples were taken from the recycle gas before and after the reactor. By daily dosing of the ligand solution described above, the conversion and regioselectivity could be kept constant. To determine the reactor contents, samples were taken from the reactor and analyzed by liquid chromatography (HLPC). Butene conversions of around 65 to 70% were achieved under the selected reaction conditions. The percentage distribution between n-pentanal and 2-methylbutanal, or the n / iso selectivity, was 95% to 5%. In the stationary phase of the experiment no rhodium degradation could be recorded.

After 1200 hours, the reactor was depressurized and the catalyst solution was examined. The reactor showed a precipitate. An analysis of this precipitate showed that this consisted of phosphorus-containing secondary products of the bisphosphite ligand (100) and the amine used (11). There were no caking of these precipitates found in the reactor. Part of the reactor contents was, after separation of the precipitate, at 1.2 KPa abs. and 220 ° C bottom temperature is reduced to 13% based on the feed. The resulting bottoms residue was still fluid and no precipitate was detected. Rhodium analysis showed that all of the rhodium from the feed was in this bottoms residue.

The experiment was carried out in the pilot plant described in Example L1. The preparation of the experiment and the implementation took place analogously to example L1. In this example, the catalyst solution consisted of 12 kg of isononyl benzoate, 4.5 g of Rh (acac) (CO) 2, 55 g of bisphosphite ligand of formula (100), 67.5 g of amine of formula (11). The isononyl benzoate was also previously stripped with nitrogen to remove oxygen and water from the solvent. Subsequently, the addition of the starting materials was started. For this purpose, a feed mixture was run over an evaporator in order to drive it in gaseous form into the cycle gas. The feed mixture was a mixture of 35% by weight of 2-butenes and 1-butene in a concentration of about 1%. The rest was n-butane. The following throughputs were set: 0.3 kg / h feed mixture, 75 Nl / h synthesis gas (50 vol% H2 and 50 vol% CO). After 1500 h, first precipitates appeared in the samples from the reactor. The analysis of these precipitates showed that, as in Example L1, it consisted of phosphorus-containing secondary products of the bisphosphite ligand (100) and the amine used (11). The reaction was operated for a total of 8100 h, the rhodium losses by Probenah-men were compensated by adding appropriate amounts of Rh (acac) (CO) 2 in the daily ligand dosing. In the course of about 7000 h, a decrease in activity was observed in the reaction and the reaction solution was prone to foaming. The process could not be operated and the attempt had to be stopped.
After the end of the reaction, the reactor was depressurized and the reaction mixture was examined. There were large amounts of solid. 250 ml of the reaction solution were stirred for 4 h under N 2 atomic phase at 40 ° C and then measured the viscosity of the residue. The viscosity was 300 mPas.

Vergleich der Beispiele L1, L2 und L3Comparison of Examples L1, L2 and L3
Comparing the corresponding examples, the example L3 carried out according to the invention clearly distinguishes itself from the examples L1 and L2 by the following features, which represent the state of the art:
The inventive example L3 shows no run-in phase, that is, the system shows no decline in activity in the first 1000 h operating time and thus produces the system in the inventive example L3 in the same period significantly more product. In Comparative Example 2 (L2) solid precipitates in the course of the reaction, which can only be removed by a complicated filtration. The inventive example L3 shows no solids accumulation even after more than 8000 hours, thus the filtration can be dispensed with in this process. Comparative Example 2 (L2) shows a marked foaming of the reaction solution at the end of the experiment, so that the process can no longer be operated. Such behavior could only be prevented by expensive foam breakers. The inventive method can be done without these tools.
