Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a camera module, a product monitoring device comprising a conveyor for conveying products to be monitored and a camera module according to the invention and a method for scanning an object with such a camera module.
Product monitoring devices having a conveyor and a camera module for optically scanning the products conveyed on the conveyor are known and used in, for example, parcel sorting equipment or production facilities.
Usually, a measuring device, such as e.g. a light curtain determines the height of the scanned product or object. The camera module has an adjustable optics, which is adjusted to the previously detected height of the object in order to scan their surface correctly. The camera module either has a zoom lens whose focal length is variable, so that it can be adjusted accordingly for scanning objects of different heights. It is also possible to use a lens with a fixed focal length, whose focus is tracked, so that different heights are sharply imaged on the sensor.
Zoom lenses move multiple lenses relative to each other. The zoom lens has a movable mechanism within the lens, which shifts the most lenses to each other. With a zoom lens, the scale can be kept constant over the adjustment.
If a fixed focal length lens is used, move the entire lens lengthwise to the optical axis so that the focus range is at the desired height. The magnification increases as the optical length is reduced.
Both a zoom lens and a fixed focal length lens have mechanical parts that need to be moved. These movements are subject to wear. In industrial applications, usage cycles of several million pieces are required. These usually exceed the life of these moving parts by far.

The invention is based on the object, a camera module and a method for scanning a Object with such a camera module to create, with which objects with different heights can be correctly and sharply scanned line by line, the camera module should be simple and should have a long life.
A further object of the invention is to provide a product monitoring device with which products of different sizes conveyed along a conveyor can be reliably scanned, wherein the product monitoring device should have a long service life.
The objects are achieved by a camera module with the features of claim 1, by a product monitoring device having the features of
An inventive camera module for line-by-line scanning of the object has at least one line-shaped sensor and an objective for imaging the object onto the sensor. The camera module is characterized in that it has a plurality of line sensors, which are arranged at different distances from the lens, so that objects with different distances from the lens are sharply imaged onto the respective line sensors.
With the camera module for scanning an object line by line, an image of the object is generated. The individual recorded line images are put together in a manner known per se to form a two-dimensional image.
Since the individual line sensors are arranged at different distances from the objective, lines which are imaged on the respective line sensor through the objective are also arranged at different distances from the objective. This line is called an image line. In other words, the image lines that are on the same side as an object to be scanned with respect to the lens are those lines that are focused by the lens on each of the line sensors. Since each lens has only a limited depth of field, a defined by the depth of field area around the image lines is focused on the respective line sensor. This focus area is the area in which the corresponding line sensors can scan the objects with the desired precision.
It can thus be generated by objects of different height sharp images without the lens or the camera must be moved.
Preferably, the plurality of line sensors are arranged parallel to one another and in a plane inclined with respect to the optical axis of the objective and in particular represented by an optical area sensor.
The formation of the plurality of line sensors by a single optical surface sensor results in a cost-effective manner a plurality of line sensors, which are each arranged at slightly different distances with respect to the lens. The distances of the image lines to each other are accordingly small. This means that even with a lens with a shallow depth of field, an object can be reliably and correctly scanned.
The camera module preferably has an elongate light source for illuminating the object to be scanned. The light source can produce a strongly bundled beam of monochromatic and especially polychromatic and, above all, white light which is directed at the image lines. In particular, the light source is arranged in the plane of the image lines, so that all image lines are illuminated. This means that an object, irrespective of the distance from which it is arranged with respect to the camera module, is exactly illuminated in the area which is imaged sharply on one of the line sensors by means of a narrow, strongly bundled light beam.
If the mutually parallel line sensors are arranged in one plane, as is the case, for example, when using a surface sensor, all image lines are also arranged in a common plane. The light source is preferably arranged in this plane, so that all image lines can be illuminated simultaneously. This plane of all image lines has a common intersection with the plane of the line sensors and the main plane of the lens. The main plane of an objective is the plane at which the multiple refraction at the interfaces of the lenses of a lens can be replaced by a single refraction at the principal plane. If the elongate light source is arranged near the intersection between the plane of the line sensors and the main plane of the objective, it is also located near the plane of all picture lines and can illuminate them together. The intersection between the plane of the line sensors and the main plane of the lens is thus a preferred location for arranging the light source.
According to one embodiment of the invention, the camera module has a device for automatically determining the distance of an object to be scanned.
The device for automatically determining the distance of an object to be scanned comprises, for example, an evaluation device with which the sharpness of the images of the individual line sensors is determined. The image of the line sensor with the maximum sharpness is determined, the distance of the image line of this line sensor from the lens being determined as the distance of the object to be scanned. A measure of the sharpness is, for example, the difference in brightness of neighboring pixels. To determine the sharpness of a line, the brightness differences of adjacent pixels can be added. Since several or all line sensors must be read substantially simultaneously to determine the sharpest image, it may be expedient to sub-sample the individual line sensors for this purpose, ie, not every pixel but only every second, third, fourth or x-th pixel is read out ,
The device for automatically determining the distance of an object to be scanned may also alternatively have a projection device for generating at least one highly focused light beam. The light beam is directed with an inclination relative to the optical axis of the objective in the area detected by the line sensors, so that an object to be detected is simultaneously illuminated by the light beam and detected by the line sensors. The distance of the object from the objective can be determined with which line sensor the area of the object illuminated by the highly focused light beam is detected. For this purpose, the camera module preferably has a plurality of line sensors, wherein a part of the line sensors for scanning the distance of an object from the lens and another part of the line sensors for detecting a line-shaped image of the object are arranged.
The device for automatically determining the distance of an object to be scanned may also be formed by a conveyor for conveying the object to be scanned at a predetermined speed, a light barrier for detecting the position of the object to be scanned on the conveyor and such a projection device for generating at least one highly focused light beam wherein the light beam is disposed with an inclination relative to the conveyor and directed in the area detected by the line sensors, so that the time at which an object to be scanned interrupts the light beam can be detected by means of one of the line sensors. The distance of the object from the lens is detected on the basis of the time interval between the triggering of the light barrier and the interruption of the light beam.
In the above-described embodiments with a projection device for generating at least one highly focused light beam, a laser is preferably used as the projection device. The projection device can also be designed such that a plurality of highly focused light beam bundles are generated, which are preferably all inclined with respect to the optical axis of the objective and / or the transport direction of the conveying device.
Furthermore, the device for automatically determining the distance of an object to be scanned may include an evaluation device, with which the shape and size of the projection of the object on the line sensors is determined and by comparison with the known shape and / or size of the object, the distance of the object from the lens is determined. The shape of the object may be known by the fact that the object to be scanned is an object of a set of predetermined objects whose shape is known.
Furthermore, the invention relates to a product monitoring device with a conveyor for conveying products to be monitored and such a camera module. The conveyor is designed for conveying the products in a conveying direction and the camera module is arranged with respect to the conveyor that the image lines are transverse to the conveying direction and arranged at different distances from the conveyor, so that different high products can be detected correctly with the chamber model. The correct detection of products means that an image of the product is detected with a predetermined focus. Such an image can then be analyzed automatically with corresponding image processing devices, so that defects in the product are automatically detected.
Die Zeichnungen zeigen schematisch in: The invention will be explained by way of example with reference to the drawings. The drawings show schematically in:

The device for automatically determining the height of an object to be scanned or the distance between the objective and the object to be scanned can have an evaluation device with which the sharpness of the images of the individual line sensors is determined. The better the surface of the object is mapped to one line, the higher the modulation in the image brightness (MTF) of the individual pixels. A measure of the sharpness is thus the difference in brightness of neighboring pixels. The determination of the line in which the surface of the object is most clearly displayed can be determined by the following formula:
To speed up the detection of the height, this can also be done in a horizontally or vertically subsampled image (binning or multiple ROIs).

In the context of the invention, it is of course also possible to use individual, separate line sensors instead of a surface sensor. The exemplary embodiments explained above each have an area sensor, wherein the individual lines of the area sensor each represent a line sensor. The use of such a surface sensor has several advantages. An economic advantage is that with a surface sensor very many lines are available at very low cost.
The exemplary embodiments explained above are designed in such a way that the camera module is operated such that the object is scanned with only a single line in each case. It may also be expedient to modify the exemplary embodiments explained above such that a plurality of lines are read out for scanning an object. For objects with non-horizontal, planar surfaces (oblique objects), the entire surface can be detected correctly. For this purpose, it is expedient first to scan the profile of the surface, for example with a light barrier curtain, in order then to control the reading of the lines as a function of the detected profile. It is also possible to read out all the lines several times and then use these data to first detect the sharp line images via the sharpness of the lines, so that you know which line images have been correctly and sharply displayed, and then use the sharp line images to form the image of the object to put together.
However, it is advantageous if the individual lines are arranged in one plane. For this reason, the image lines, which are sharply imaged on the individual lines, arranged in a plane and can be easily illuminated by a single, elongated light source.
