Abstract
Description
The invention relates to kinematic components, as they are arranged on the non-exhaust leading outside of an exhaust gas turbocharger, and the exhaust gas turbocharger itself, and the production of such kinematic components using a high-temperature nitriding.
To date, stainless, austenitic steels are used for the production of dry running, unlubricated kinematics components, which are intended for mounting on the non-exhaust leading outside of exhaust gas turbochargers. The relevant kinematics components are kinematic attachments such as adjusting elements for the pressure cell or actuators on the turbocharger. These are located outside the exhaust gas flow, but are subject to an operating temperature of up to 250 ° C, and high mechanical stress. They are thus exposed to corrosion as well as increased wear. The fatigue strength so far primarily takes into account the corrosion resistance and not the wear resistance. The materials used to date therefore meet only moderate demands in terms of wear resistance under high mechanical stress.
Known methods for increasing the wear resistance (in particular the hardness), such as conventional nitriding at about 550 ° C, are not suitable for high-alloyed stainless steels such as the austenitic steels mentioned, there conventional nitriding leads to a significant deterioration of the corrosion resistance due to the excretion of chromium nitrides.
Based on this prior art, the object is to increase the strength (hardness) and thus the wear resistance in the dry-running, unlubricated kinematics for the non-exhaust leading outdoor area of turbochargers without loss of corrosion resistance of the material.
This object is achieved by a kinematics component with the features of claim 1 and by an exhaust gas turbocharger having the features of claim 3.
Further, the features of claim 4 discloses the use of a high temperature nitriding process in the manufacture of the kinematics component.
Further developments of the objects of the invention are set forth in the subclaims.
A kinematics component according to the invention, which is intended to be arranged on a non-exhaust-carrying outer region of an exhaust gas turbocharger, consists of a corrosion-resistant high-alloy steel, such as a ferritic chromium steel, an austenitic steel or a duplex steel, and has a high-strength surface layer with dissolved nitrogen.
Beispielhafte korrosionsbeständige Stähle haben die Werkstoffnummern 1.4016, 1.4104, 1.4113 (ferritische Chromstähle), 1.4301, 1.4404, 1.4435 (austenitische Stähle) und 1.4462 (Duplexstahl).Exemplary corrosion-resistant steels have the material numbers 1.4016, 1.4104, 1.4113 (ferritic chrome steels), 1.4301, 1.4404, 1.4435 (austenitic steels) and 1.4462 (duplex steel).
The high-strength embroidered nitrogen-filled surface layer can be built up by high-temperature nitriding of the kinematics component and gives the corrosion-resistant high-alloy steel member improved wear resistance and dynamic loadability without reducing its good corrosion resistance properties.
The kinematic components can be, for example, adjusting elements for a pressure cell or vacuum box of the exhaust-gas turbocharger, which are exposed to an elevated operating temperature of up to 250 ° C. and high mechanical stress.
By high-temperature nitriding in the temperature range of 1000 ° C to 1200 ° C in nitrogen-containing media with a subsequent rapid cooling process, so that the nitrogen remains dissolved in the matrix, no connection with the chromium and is not precipitated as nitride. Thus, there is no chromium depletion in the microstructure, which has occurred in conventional nitriding of high-alloy ferritic Cr steels, austenitic steels or duplex steels and has led to the reduction or even abolition of corrosion resistance.
Quenching after the thermochemical treatment (high-temperature nitriding) leaves the nitrogen in solution and, compared to the non-nitrided material by solid-solution hardening, leads to an increase in hardness and the associated higher resistance to abrasion of the surface layer.
The kinematics components of the exhaust-gas turbocharger in the low-temperature, non-exhaust-carrying outer region (<250 ° C.) thus have increased wear resistance, without the corrosion resistance being reduced.
The outer kinematics components of an exhaust gas turbocharger according to the invention with improved wear resistance, which in the non-exhaust leading outside of the exhaust gas turbocharger, which are subject to the above temperature loads are therefore high-alloy and high-temperature nitrided steel components according to the invention with a correspondingly higher-strength boundary layer with dissolved nitrogen, which have improved reliability and thus have a longer life.
According to the invention, therefore, the high-temperature nitriding known per se is used for the first time in the manufacture of the kinematics components which are provided for arrangement on a non-exhaust leading outside area of an exhaust gas turbocharger to achieve the high-strength surface layer with dissolved nitrogen.
A suitable high-temperature nitriding process envisages providing stainless steels with a high-strength surface layer by nitrogen enrichment. In this case, the austenitic surface layer is formed with ≥ 0.30 wt.% Of dissolved nitrogen by embroidering the stainless steel at a temperature between 1000 and 1200 ° C in a nitrogen-containing medium and subsequent quenching, which takes place at such a speed that nitride formation avoided becomes. As a result, the edge zone of the near-net shape parts of stainless steel is enriched with dissolved nitrogen and solidified. The strength of the formed surface layer, which is characterized at the same time by the high toughness of the structure, and thus the wear resistance are increased by solid solution hardening with nitrogen.
In contrast to the classical nitriding processes, the corrosion resistance of the stainless steels is not degraded in high-temperature nitriding, but rather retained due to the fact that the nitrogen does not make any connections with the chromium at the high process temperatures used in edge-embroidering.
