Abstract

Description
The invention relates to the separation of solids by means of dynamic cross-flow filtration of mixtures containing liquid silicon compounds.
The preparation of methylchlorosilanes in the direct synthesis of Müller-Rochow. Here, metallic silicon is reacted with methyl chloride in the presence of a catalyst system. In this case, a furnace gas which contains unreacted methyl chloride, methylchlorosilanes, oligosilanes, carbosilanes, siloxanes, high-boiling cracking products and solids is formed in the reactor. The chlorosilanes are produced by the reaction of metallic silicon with hydrogen chloride. The mixtures are processed in several process steps.
One of these process steps consists in the purification of the furnace gas of discharged solid. This is preferably done in the cyclones. The separation in the cyclones is not complete. Another cleaning step must follow. One possibility is the condensation of the furnace gas with subsequent filtration. The technology conventionally used is dead end filtration.
In dead-end filtration, a feed stream is pumped against the filter at the lowest possible pressure to minimize compaction of the retained materials. Due to the permanent outflow of the permeate (filtrate), a filter cake (cover layer) or a concentration gradient of the solid particles to be separated accumulates on the filter. The filter cake increases the filtration resistance and thus the pressure drop over the filter. It must, depending on the feed composition, at regular intervals by cyclic backwashing (pumping back of already separated filtrate) and now and then dry cleaning removed and the filter element thus regenerated.
Other disadvantages of the Dead End Filtration during commissioning, the penetration of solid until a sufficiently thick filter cake layer has built. Then, as the filter cake builds up, the differential pressure increases as the amount of filtrate slowly decreases. The dead end filtration is technologically limited to particles larger than 1 μm. With the irreversible setting of porängängigen particles in the depth of the pores of the filter material, the life is severely limited. This happens the faster, the greater the proportion of sub-micron particles.
In classical cross-flow filtration of a fluid mixture, a cross-flow is generated at a high velocity, preferably from 0.5 to 8 m / s, flowing along a filter medium. The overflow creates a flow velocity dependent shear stress across the solid surface of the filter. This constant shear stress reduces the continuous buildup of a filter cake. It then sets a balance between cake thickness and Filtratfluss. The comparatively high overflows in classic cross-flow filtration require a considerable expenditure of energy (depending on the filtrate flow: 2-20 kWh / m 3 ). Pipelines and pumps must be dimensioned for these overflows, which is why the equipment cost is considerable.
The invention relates to a separation process for the dynamic cross-flow filtration of solid and liquid silicon compounds containing mixtures.
While the solids to be separated are obtained as filter cake in ordinary dead end filters, the solid can be concentrated to such an extent in the cross-flow filtration from fluid mixtures that the suspension is still pumpable. The filtrate is free of solids, the deposition of solid particles is complete. In contrast to static filtration techniques, dynamic cross-flow filtration systems are able to clarify liquids with high turbidity levels.
In dynamic cross flow filtration, the classic cross flow effect is created by rotating filter discs. On the one hand large Umpumpmengen be avoided, which significantly reduces the pump wear, on the other hand, the filtrate pressure is completely decoupled from the overflow in this process. The energy expenditure is mainly determined by the drive power for rotating the filtration disks. The deposition of the solid particles takes place on the surface of the rotating filter discs.
Through the use of special filter disks for dynamic cross-flow filtration, solids can be separated from fluid mixtures up to a particle size in the nanometer range.
The throughput and service life of dynamic cross flow filtration are virtually unlimited compared to dead end filtration. The filter resistance remains almost constant after equilibrium has been set.
With the adjustment of the solids concentration in the retentate, the liquid containing solids retained by the filter discs, the work-up of the retentate can immediately follow. Due to the constant filter resistance, smaller filter surfaces are required at the same throughput than in the case of dead end filtration. Constant operating conditions can be achieved with complete separation of the solids. It falls to a continuous retentate with constant composition. A filter cake build-up is reduced by the disc spacing and the centrifugal forces of rotation. This keeps the filter resistance constant for a long time.
The solids remain concentrated in the retentate. In this case, the solids content can be set constant by the continuous withdrawal of the retentate. This setting is useful for optimizing the next processing step of working up the solids-containing mixtures.
