Mit anderen Worten ist die Rotationsachse der Kurbelwelle nicht nur, wie im Stand der Technik in Fahrzeughochrichtung gegenüber dem Schnittpunkt der Projektionen der Rotationssymmetrieachsen der Zylinder versetzt, sondern weist auch einen seitlichen Versatz auf. Dadurch wird erzielt, dass für beide Zylinderbänke eine positive Schränkung ermöglicht wird. Die Vorteile der Schränkung der Kurbelwelle kommen somit für beide Zylinderbänke zum Tragen. Insbesondere wird für beide Zylinderbänke eine Vergleichmäßigung der Kolbenseitenkräfte zwischen der Kompression vor dem oberen Totpunkt und der Verbrennung nach dem oberen Totpunkt erreicht. Dies verbessert die Laufruhe des Motors insbesondere im Leerlauf und reduziert – insbesondere bei 6-Zylinder-V-Motoren-Anregungen der dominanten dritten Ordnung, welche im Wesentlichen durch die Gaskraft ausgelöst werden. Weiterhin ergeben sich Reibleistungsvorteile durch eine deutliche Reduktion der Kolbenseitenkräfte.
