Abstract
Description
The present invention is a process for the preparation of inorganic nanoparticles by precipitation from solutions by ultrafast Mixing of several reactants arise.
In particular, the present invention is a process for the preparation of nanoscale, inorganic particles with particle sizes of d 50 <500 nm and a narrow particle size distribution by precipitation from highly supersaturated solutions that arise by ultrafast mixing of multiple reactants in a microreactor.
Ergebnis dieser Herstellverfahren sind anorganische Partikel mit Partikelgröße von d50 > 500 nm und relativ breiten Partikelgrößenverteilungen mit einer geometrischen Standardabweichung von σg > 1,5.Previously known standard methods for the precipitation of inorganic particles have the disadvantage that uneven and sometimes relatively low supersaturations are achieved by slow and uneven mixing of the reactants. This leads to particle formation due to heterogeneous nucleation in the areas of low supersaturation. In addition, the residence times of the particles in the reaction volume are often so long that the particles formed grow through layer growth. The result of these production methods are inorganic particles with a particle size of d 50 > 500 nm and relatively broad particle size distributions with a geometric standard deviation of σ g > 1.5.
Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung ist es, die Nachteile des Standes der Technik zu überwinden.task The object of the present invention is to overcome the disadvantages of the prior art Technology to overcome.

- 5. An up-scaling to economically required dimensions is possible.
Surprisingly the object is achieved by the features of the main claim solved. Preferably embodiments can be found in the subclaims.
The inventive method is characterized in that a uniform and high supersaturation and a short residence time of the precipitated particles are ensured in the reaction volume. In the process according to the invention, the reactants are preferably present as a fluid or in a fluid, for example as a liquid, solution or suspension. In particular, the reactants are present in aqueous media. The reactants, which form a sparingly soluble precipitate under the present conditions (pH, temperature), are used at sufficiently high concentrations that, when the reactants are mixed, supersaturation of the precipitate of S >> 100 is achieved. The reactants are mixed in a small volume V, the reaction volume, the reaction volume being delimited by a reactor housing or by a gas stream. If the reaction volume is limited by the reactor housing, the reaction volume is from 1 μL to 10 mL, preferably from 5 μL to 5 mL, more preferably from 10 μL to 3 mL. Is the reaction volume through a gas stream limited, the reaction volume of 1 x 10 -5 .mu.l to 100 .mu.l, preferably from 1 x 10 -4 .mu.l to 10 .mu.l.
Of the Volume throughput of the precipitate must be set in the range of f = 0.5 to 20,000 L / h such that the residence time of the precipitate in Reaction volume is less than 1 s. Preferably, the mixing is the reactants turbulent and the micromixing time significantly below from 1 s. However, the mixing can also be done in a laminar flow respectively.
The Process is carried out, for example, that the reactants with high pressures from p> 1 bar into one small reaction volume. To the blockage of the nozzles counteract, according to the invention, the nozzles at an angle of α = 10 to 170 ° to each other aligned. falls at a collinear alignment of the nozzles (α = 180 °), a nozzle, this leads often cause this nozzle clogged because the other reactant from the opposite enters the failed nozzle. When selecting the nozzle diameter It should be noted that the resulting volume flow (at maximum Pressure) to a residence time of the precipitate in the reaction volume leads, which is less than 1 s. Are for the precipitation reaction several reactants may be necessary these over the corresponding number of nozzles, the angle to each other also preferably in the range of α = 10 to 170 ° to each other have to be put into a small reaction volume.
Of the precipitation process can be controlled by a downstream pH electrode and the Volume flow rates the individual reactants are controlled. Following the precipitation will the precipitation suspension typically concentrated and washed. The concentration and washing can be performed using membrane filtration, cross-flow filtration, Decanters or separators are performed. Final will be the washed and concentrated precipitation suspension dried, typically will do it a drying cabinet, a spray dryer, a milling dryer, a freeze dryer or a pulsation dryer used.
The produced according to the invention Barium sulfate particles can in the field of nanocomposites, for example, for the improvement of mechanical Properties of plastics, preferably of thermoplastics, Thermosets and / or elastomers used. Furthermore You can find application in the range of paints and inks, taking also mechanical properties, as well as other properties such as the glass transition temperature and the chemical resistance influence positively. In addition, the inventively produced Barium sulfate particle nucleating effect and the crystallinity of polymeric Materials is increased. Further examples of application areas the nanoparticles prepared according to the invention are: adhesives, composites in connection with metals or ceramic Materials, cosmetics, synthetic fibers.

The reactants are 0.5 molar aqueous barium hydroxide solution (Ba (OH) 2 ) and 0.5 molar aqueous sulfuric acid solution (H 2 SO 4 ) and a 0.01 molar aqueous solution of sodium lauryl sulfate (C 12 H 25 NaO 4 S). used. In the precipitation reactor nanoscale barium sulphate precipitates as product, whereby the sodium lauryl sulfate goes to the surfaces of the Bariumsulfatpartikel and prevents thus further particle growth. In addition, the use of sodium lauryl sulfate leads to the hydrophobization of the barium sulfate particles.
