Description
The invention relates to a method for examining the Carbon dioxide content in water, especially in copper tap water, as well as a Measuring arrangement for carrying out the guarantee procedure power from loads not affected by corrosion driven by water supply systems.
Copper pipes and fittings have long been used successfully in the installation of water supply systems. An essential quality requirement for water when using copper is that the free carbon dioxide content in the water must not exceed 44 mg / l. An excess of free carbonic acid (CO 2 ) has an aggressive effect on all plant parts used for the transmission and storage of water, which means that pipes and plant parts can be destroyed by corrosion. To prevent damage to the water pipes, the water is analyzed beforehand with regard to its carbon dioxide content, so that appropriate protective measures can be taken if necessary. For this purpose, a sample is taken on site and analyzed in the laboratory (waterworks) with regard to its carbon dioxide content. Not only is the packaging and transport of the sample complex, in particular time-consuming, the actual analysis according to DIN 38409 also takes a considerable amount of time. The Merck acidity test that is still used, which can also only be carried out by trained personnel in the laboratory, is considerably less time-consuming, but is too sensitive to the cross, since all ions are also measured.
For the sake of completeness, it should be pointed out that test tubes for air analysis and technical gas analysis, in particular also for the determination of carbon dioxide with hydrazine (N 2 H 4 ) and crystal violet as an indicator, are already part of the state of the art (test tube paperback, DRÄGER-Werk AG Lübeck, 5th edition, 1982, pp. 84-87). In a known method for separating carbon which is organically bound in water (DE 43 07 814 A1) and in a method described in DE 39 09 240 A1 for determining decomposable hydrocarbon compounds in water, the carbon dioxide is removed using a gas stream ( Air) from the water sample to be analyzed. However, these known methods and the corresponding outgassing elements are expensive in terms of equipment and are not suitable for determining the carbon dioxide content of the water on the spot in a simple manner when installing new water supply systems.
The invention is therefore based on the object, a Ver drive to the determination of the carbon dioxide content, and before the new installation of water supply system gene to indicate that with little time and apparatus effort by untrained personnel immediately on Installation location can be carried out and reliable provides measurement results, as well as a measurement arrangement for To indicate the implementation of the procedure
According to the invention the task is carried out with a method according to the features of claim 1 and with a the features of claim 4 trained measuring arrangement solution solved.
In other words, the essence of the invention is that the carbon dioxide expelled from a fresh water sample with finely divided air at a point of installation first cuts through a chemical initially formed as a short strand section (buffer area) and then as an elongated strand section (measuring area) with a reduced diameter is passed, which forms an acid with the supplied carbon dioxide and also has a pH color indicator. In the buffer area, the influence of moisture and the CO 2 content in the air is largely eliminated. The elongated strand section (measuring range) is calibrated so that a certain length of discoloration of this strand section corresponds to a certain value of the carbon dioxide content.
The measuring arrangement according to the invention for carrying out the method essentially comprises a gas wash bottle which receives the fresh water sample and has means for the finely divided supply of air in order to drive out the carbon dioxide from the water sample, and a CO 2 test tube which can be connected to the gas space above the liquid level and in which the short chemical strand for buffering moisture and CO 2 from the air and then the elongated chemical strand with a smaller diameter is located in the direction of flow. The elongated measuring strand is designed so that a certain length of its reaction area with carbon dioxide and the corresponding discoloration, due to the changed pH value, corresponds to a certain carbon dioxide content in the water sample. The reaction length of the measuring line at which a limit value for the carbon dioxide content is reached is marked by a marking on the CO 2 test tube.
A method and a measuring arrangement are thus available Available to the installer of water supply allowed to exceed the maximum permissible Value of the carbon dioxide content, which is 44 mg / l and determine the necessary conclusion drawing for the installation. The measuring process can be done easily and very quickly, that is, in within minutes of untrained personnel be performed. Also the cost and the appa rative effort for performing the measurement are ge low compared to the other known methods. The for the components required for the measurement setup are simple and safe to use. With the procedure and the associated The measuring arrangement directly increases the carbon dioxide content measured, and without cross-sensitivity to others Ions and without faulty results due to pH errors.
Further characteristics and result from the subclaims advantageous developments of the invention.
An important feature of the proposed measuring arrangement is the use of a gas washing bottle with a frit attachment, which has a frit tube with an air intake and a frit attached to the other tube end for air distribution in the water sample. The frit attachment also has an intake port, via which the gas space above the water sample is first connected to the CO 2 test tube and then to a suction pump. Via the suction pump, a defined amount of air is drawn in at the air intake and pressed through the frit in order to rise in the form of fine bubbles in the water sample and to expel the carbon dioxide from the water.
Es zeigen:An embodiment of the invention is based on the Drawing explained in more detail. Show it:
Fig. 1 eine schematische Darstellung einer Messanordnung zum Prüfen des Über schreitens eines vorgegebenen Grenzwertes des Kohlendioxidgehaltes in Wasser; und Figure 1 is a schematic representation of a measuring arrangement for checking the exceeding of a predetermined limit value of the carbon dioxide content in water. and
Fig. 2 ein in der Anordnung nach Fig. 1 ver wendetes CO2-Prüfröhrchen in einer vergrößerten Darstellung Fig. 2 shows a ver used in the arrangement of FIG. 1 CO 2 test tube in an enlarged view
Referring to FIG. 1, the arrangement for the examination of water to a ag to a piping system made of copper gressiv acting amount of carbon dioxide (CO 2) in Wesent union of a commercial gas-washing bottle 1 (gas bubbler Drechsel) for receiving a water per be 15 and a to this via a CO 2 test tube 2 on a closed ball pump 3 . The CO 2 test tube 2 for determining the limit value of carbon dioxide in water, ie for determining whether the CO 2 content in water exceeds a certain limit value of 44 mg / l, is in a short pipe section (strand section 4 - buffer area) and in one long pipe section (string section 5 - measuring range) divided. In both tube sections there is a short strand section 4 (buffer area) and an elongated strand section 5 (measuring area) with a reduced diameter made of a chemical consisting of silica gel impregnated with hydrazine solution and crystal violet as a color indicator. The strand section 4 located in the short pipe section acts as a buffer region for the CO 2 and moisture content of the water introduced into the water to expel the carbon dioxide. This means that a lot of water including CO 2 is bound in the strand section 4 , so that the influence of moisture is minimized and the measurement result is not falsified. The dried CO 2 is measured in the elongated strand section 5 with the lower proportion of chemicals over the strand cross section. This area is very sensitive. The CO 2 test tube 2 has a marking 6 in the area of the strand section 5 (measuring range), which marks the limit value of the permissible carbon dioxide content in the tap water to be examined, ie 44 mg / l. Before use, the CO 2 test tube 2 is airtight at both ends. There is also an arrow 7, of the correct integration in the measuring arrangement is, the correct flow of the CO 2 is intended to ensure -Prüfröhrchens 2 on which CO 2 -Prüfröhrchen. 2
10 angeschlossen. Before the installation of water-bearing pipelines, in order to avoid later corrosion damage due to an excessive carbon dioxide content in the tap water, the installer measures the CO 2 content directly on site as follows:
First, the gas washing bottle 1 (up to a certain filling level (calibration mark 8 ) with the escaping tap water (water sample 15 ) is filled and then with the frit attachment 9 , which has a connecting piece 10 and a frit tube 11 with a frit in the liquid 12 and one air intake 13 by bordered, closed. After the CO 2 was -Prüfröhrchen 2 is open at both ends, it is so sealingly connected through a sealing port 16 to the ball pump 3 that no extraneous air that may distort the measurement result, in the direction of arrow 7 can be sucked in. When the tightness of the connection is detected, the other end of the CO 2 -Prüfröhrchens 2 is connected to the connection piece 10 via an elastic hose piece 14.
With the ball pump 3 - in accordance with the embodiment in three strokes of 100 ml each - in the gas space 18 above the liquid level of the water sample 15 in the gas wash bottle 1, a vacuum is generated in order to thereby enter air into the liquid via the air intake 13 bubbles through the frit 12 and drives out a large part of the carbon dioxide contained in the water to be checked, which is then pressed into the CO 2 test tube 2 . After in the short strand section 4 due to the air humidity and the CO 2 from the air, the measurement result falsifying influence is turned out in wesent union, the length of the discolored part of the elongated strand section 5 (Meßbe rich), in which the after equation
CO2 + N2H4 → NH2-NH-COOH
Acid formed in conjunction with the crystal violet causes a discoloration, a measure of the carbon dioxide content in the water to be examined. If the discolouration goes beyond marking 6 , the limit value of 44 mg CO 2 / l, at which corrosion of the commonly used copper pipes occurs, has been exceeded. In this case, suitable measures must be taken to prevent corrosion damage in the pipes. It goes without saying that with lower values of the permissible CO 2 content, the number of strokes given above, ie the gas volume sucked through, can be increased in order to improve the sensitivity of the test tube. As shown in FIG. 1, a temperature measuring strip 19 for measuring the water temperature is attached to the gas washing bottle 1 in order to be able to take into account the temperature dependence of the CO 2 desorption rate.
Despite a measurement error of ± 25%, such a measurement provides sufficiently precise results for the present purpose in order to be able to distinguish whether a pipe installation can be carried out in the usual way or not. The specified measurement method, in which the CO 2 content is not displayed directly via ions, can also be carried out easily and inexpensively by unskilled people on site.
