Description
DEUTSCHESGERMAN
The invention relates to artificial phosphors for fluorescent discharge lamps, cathode rays and X-ray screens and the like consisting essentially of barium pyrophosphate and 0.05 to 50, preferably 1 to 20 percent by weight, based on the barium pyrophosphate, consist of titanium compounds, and a Process for the production of such phosphors.
Man erhitzt auf eine Temperatur von über 800°.According to the present invention, the manufacturing method for a phosphor includes heating a mixture of a barium phosphate base and a titanium compound, the latter in proportions from 0.05 to 50 percent by weight, based on the base mass. This barium phosphate corresponds to its composition essentially the barium pyrophosphate, but can either be up to 25 percent by weight contain more barium oxide or up to 5 percent by weight more phosphorus pentoxide than corresponds to the stoichiometric ratio of these components in the barium pyrophosphate. One heats up to a temperature of over 800 °.
B. durchThe barium phosphate base mass can be replaced by substances or in the mixture to be heated Mixtures of substances that result in this basic mass when heated, e.g. B. by
1. Bariumoxyd oder eine Verbindung, die beim Erhitzen Bariumoxyd ergibt, und ein Ammonphosphat,1.barium oxide or a compound which produces barium oxide on heating and an ammonium phosphate,
Barium phosphate and barium oxide or a barium compound which, when heated, barium oxide results,
3. Bariumphosphat und ein Ammonphosphat,3. barium phosphate and an ammonium phosphate,
4. Bariumphosphat, Bariumoxyd oder eine Bariumverbindung, die beim Erhitzen Bariumoxyd ergibt, und ein Ammonphosphat.4.barium phosphate, barium oxide or a barium compound which gives barium oxide when heated, and an ammonium phosphate.
Good phosphors are obtained if the amount of titanium added as a compound is used before heating between 0.05 and 50 percent by weight, based on the base mass. This will produce the brightest luminescence achieved when the titanium concentration is between 1 and 20 percent by weight, based on the base mass, lies. The effect of different concentrations of z. B. titanium added as titanium dioxide the luminescence intensity of a typical material composed according to the invention is shown in FIG. 1 shown. In the presence of high levels of titanium, it is unlikely that all of the titanium will act as the activator is effective in barium phosphate; there is likely to be a significant proportion of the inert titanium compound in the final product intimately mixed with titanium-activated barium phosphate. The titanium is given as a titanium compound to, e.g. B. as dioxide, phosphate or titanate or substances that give rise to such compounds when heated.

However, the intensity of the luminescence is generally increased when the Material is thoroughly preheated and then heated a second time.
The phosphor is preferably produced by heating to a temperature between 850 and 1200 °. A more luminescent material can sometimes be obtained by using a small amount of a flux, ζ. B. barium fluoride, added before heating to the formation of the phosphor accelerate.

The hot filtrate is stirred into a hot solution of diammonophosphate (130 g of diammonophosphate in 1 liter of distilled water). The resulting barium phosphate precipitate is filtered off, washed with hot distilled water and then dried. 10 g of this dried barium phosphate and 1.2 g of titanium dioxide are ground together and then heated to 1050 ° for 1 hour. After cooling, the mixture can be ground and further 1 hour Ii are heated to 1050 °. Since there are slight fluctuations in the composition of the barium phosphate precipitate, it is sometimes advantageous to adjust the concentration of the barium oxide or phosphorus pentoxide by adding a small amount of a barium compound, such as barium carbonate, nitrate or oxalate, or an ammon phosphate, such as Diammonophosphate, to increase.
The hot filtrate is stirred into a hot solution of diammonophosphate (172 g of diammonophosphate in 1 liter of distilled water). The solution of 98 g of potassium titanium oxalate in 1 liter of distilled water is added to this mixture. The precipitate is filtered off, washed thoroughly with hot distilled water and then dried. The dried precipitate is heated to 1 / * hour at 1050 °; After cooling, it can be ground and heated again to 1050 ° for 1 hour.
