Description
It is known that the salts of long-chain tertiary amines have valuable wetting, cleaning, emulsifying and disinfecting properties own. The known compounds of this type, as for example according to the U.S. Patents 1,836,047, 1,836,048, 2,541,088, and 2,541,089 can be made, but only have limited applicability. The tertiary amines prepared according to the patents mentioned have namely the great disadvantage that they irritate human skin. You are therefore z. The German patent 552 268 describes the production of higher molecular weight oxyalkylamines by action of halogen alcohols or alkylene oxides to primary or secondary amines, which at least one Hydrocarbon radical containing more than 8 carbon atoms, described. The halogen alcohols or alkylene oxides are not in stoichiometric proportions to the primary and secondary Amines used, but mostly in a more or less large excess. Depending on the amount of the Reacted alkylene oxide or haloalcohol, therefore, the products obtained have a changing Composition, which is mainly expressed in a different consistency and water solubility comes. The higher molecular weight oxyalkylamines produced in this way are used as textile auxiliaries, Suggested leveling agents and plasticizers. By contrast, according to the method according to the invention well-defined tertiary N - (/ 3, γ-dioxypropyl) amines with constant composition and sharp melting and boiling points obtained in good yields. These compounds represent, especially in the form of their salts with organic or inorganic acids, cation-active wetting agents, which are surprisingly high Distinguished by skin compatibility and therefore excellent for cosmetic and dermatological purposes are suitable.
Thus, according to Examples 3 and 4, N - (^ - Oxyäthyl) -N - (/ ?, y-dioxypropyl) -dodecylamine in the clinical testing of the skin tolerance of a 2.5% aqueous solution of the hydrobromide of 100, for the most part Skin sufferers, test persons with a few exceptions after a contact time of 24 to 48 hours without irritation tolerate. The few test persons who reacted with a slight irritation of the skin acted However, they are all eczematics who even have a simple sticking plaster on Skin irritation occurred.
In contrast, the hydrobromide of the known N, N-bis- (/? - oxyethyl) -dodecylamine produced under the same experimental conditions significant to severe skin irritation in around 80% of the people tested. This connection is therefore not suitable for use in cosmetics and dermatology.
