The invention relates to a process for the production of highly pure 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenones, which have a higher transparency in the visible spectral range than that of the commercially available products. 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxy-benzophenones are used as UV absorbers in paints and varnishes, plastic products, sunscreen cosmetics and, in particular, in special optics made of polymeric materials. The suitability criterion for the application in optics made of polymeric materials is the transparency of 1% alcoholic solutions of 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenone at 41 β and 454nm and the pure transmissivity of max. 50% at 310nm. The transmission values of the commercially available products do not meet the application requirements for the visible spectral range in high-quality products.
Zur Darstellung von 2-Hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenonen sind in der Patentliteratur verschiedene mohrstufige Synthesevarianten beschrieben (DD-PS 65564/DE-AS 1643423; DD-PS 82737; DD-PS 224842; DE-AS 2208970; DE-OS 2209527; DD-PS 123596; DE-OS 2338823).For the preparation of 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenones various mohrstufige synthesis variants are described in the patent literature (DD-PS 65564 / DE-AS 1643423, DD-PS 82737, DD-PS 224842, DE-AS 2208970, DE-OS 2209527, DD -PS 123596; DE-OS 2338823).
It is furthermore known that one or two-stage recrystallizations from C 1 -C -alcohols are used for purifying the synthesis products (DE-AS 1643423). The 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenones obtained hereafter satisfy the requirements of use as UV absorbers in such products where the transparency in the visible spectrum is subordinate or meaningless. By contrast, the qualities of 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenones produced by the abovementioned processes do not or only partially meet their requirements when applied to optics made of polymeric materials with high optical transparency in the visible wavelength range.

It is the object of the invention to work up the 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenones obtained by various synthesis variants by an economically favorable and rational process technology to give highly pure 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenones whose 1% alcoholic solutions have an optical transparency at 416 nm of 75 % and at 454nm by 99%.
Darlegung des Wesens der ErfindungExplanation of the essence of the invention
Hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenone aus nach verschiedenen Synthesevarianten gewonnenen 2-Hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenone zu erzeugen, deren Uhanolische Lösungen höhere Transmissionswerte im sichtbaren Spektralbereich beiThe object of the invention is to produce, by a combination of adsorption, crystallization, filtration and drying operations, highly pure hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenones from 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenones obtained according to different synthesis variants whose Uhanolic solutions have higher transmission values in the visible spectral range at
Nach der Filtration wird das Kristallisat mit 50 bis 60Ma.-% oben genannter Lösungsmittel, bezogen auf die Masse eingesetzten Kristallisationslösungsmittel, nachgewaschen und einer 0,5 bis lOstündigen Vakuumtrocknung unterzogen.certain wavelengths with constant absorption of the UV components of the light of at least 50% at 310nm, since for application in special optics made of polymeric materials an increase in the transmission values by a few% a significantly higher utility value of the final product entails. The object is achieved in that the obtained by synthesis 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenone in a solvent in a mass ratio of 1: 2 to 1:10 are dissolved under heating, preferably being used as solvent C 1 -C 4 -AIkOhOIo , 0.1 to 10% by weight of adsorbent, based on the amount of 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenone used, is added to the homogeneous solution and it is stirred vigorously for 0.1 to 2 hours. To remove the absorbate, the hot solution is filtered and then cooled to 0 ° to 15 ° C., the resulting crystals are separated from the solution and dried in vacuo, the resulting intermediate is subjected to cooling crystallization by adding 2 to 4 times the mass of a C 1 -C, alcohol, based on the mass of solid substance used, the crystal material brings under heating in solution and the solution is subsequently cooled at a linear cooling rate of 0.5 to 20gr d / h with constant stirring to 0 to PO 0 C, After reaching the metastable area, the weakly supersaturated solution is inoculated with 0.05 to 1.0% by mass of ultrapure substance After filtration, the crystals are washed with 50 to 60% by mass of the abovementioned solvents, based on the crystallization solvent used in the mass subjected to 0.5 to 10 hours of vacuum drying.
It has been found that can be produced by the above-described technology and in particular with the introduction of an adsorption step over the exclusive purification by one-stage and multi-stage, (metallization 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenone whose alcoholic solutions higher transmission values in the visible spectral range than the international commercial The main advantage of the 2-hydroxy-4-alkoxybenzophenones treated in this way is that the substances can be used as UV absorbers in higher concentrations in special plastic optics without negatively affecting the transparency of products in the visible spectral range.
