Abstract
Για να αντικατασταθεί το βρωμιούχο μεθύλιο σε όλες του τις χρήσεις στην επεξεργασία εδαφών ή υποστρωμάτων, η εφεύρεση προτείνει τη χρήση τουλάχιστον μίας θειώδους ένωσης του γενικού τύπου: στον οποίο το R αναπαριστά μία ρίζα αλκυλίου ή αλκενυλίου, το n είναι ίσο με 0, 1 ή 2, το x είναι ένας αριθμός που κυμαίνεται από 0 έως 4, και το R' αναπαριστά μία ρίζα αλκυλίου ή αλκενυλίου, μόνο εάν n = x = 0, ένα άτομο υδρογόνου ή αλκαλικού μετάλλου. Αυτές οι θειώδεις ενώσεις (ιδιαίτερα το διμεθυλδισουλφίδιο) μπορούν να εφαρμοστούν σύμφωνα με τις κλασικές μεθόδους επεξεργασίας εδαφών (έγχυση, ψεκασμός, έγχυση κατά σταγόνες, ραντισμός) και δεν έχουν φυτοτοξικές επιδράσεις.
