Un artículo absorbente desechable que comprende lossiguiente elementos: Una hoja superior permeable al líquido, un núcleo absorbente, una hoja posterior con capacidad de respirar, y un sistema de control de olores, dicho núcleo absorbente está posicionado entre dicha hoja superior y dicha hoja posterior, dicha hoja superior, núcleo y hoja posterior cada una comprende de por lo menos una capa, en donde dicha hoja superior tiene una retención de líquido menor que 0.22 g para una carga de 2.0 g en la prueba de retención de líquido de la hoja superior, en donde dicho núcleo tiene un calibre de menos que 12 mm y tiene una permeabilidad al vapor de por lo menos 200 g/m2 /24 horas, como se define en la prueba de permeabilidad al vapor y, en donde dicha hoja posterior con capacidad de respirar tiene una permeabilidad al líquido de menos que 0.3 g para una carga de 7 ml como se define en la prueba de permeabilidad al líquido, y en donde dichos elementos están unidos de tal manera que dicho artículo absorbente tiene un índice de sequedad mayor que 0.5 y un índice sensorial mayor que 50.
