背景技术
汽车制造商诱使人们买他们的车的方法是通过提供具有各种驾驶员会发现有用或时髦的控制、指示器和小配件的汽车。例如,汽车的乘座室可以设置有各种流体表、光指示器、里程计、室内/室外温度表、门位置指示器、立体声控制、加温/冷却***、GPS***等。取决于汽车将销售给驾驶员的类别,该汽车可以设置有这些和其它控制、指示器和小配件的不同组合。能够提供新型和不同的控制、指示器和小配件的汽车制造商有时比其它制造商获得竞争性的优势。

针对***200、300、400、500所提供的显示***212可以采取各种形式。通常,显示***212将至少包括显示器220和控制电路222,控制电路解释编码器的输出信号,并且产生用于显示220的适合的驱动信号(见图2)。在一些情况下,显示器可以是模拟的(例如,一对或系列指示灯),在其它情况下,显示器可以是数字的(例如,液晶显示器(LCD))。
在一个实施例中,显示器220包括多段600、602、604、606、608、610(诸如,饼形段;见图6),其中的预定段响应于由编码器产生的输出信号而被点亮。点亮段表示一个或多个转向盘的208、210的位置。例如,如图6所示,当车辆的轮子208、210(例如,在车辆616上)向右转,段602会被点亮。此外,或可替换地,指示器612、614可以表示轮子208、210向右转(R),并且转多少度(例如,30°)。如在图7中示出,当车辆的轮子208、209向左转,段606会被点亮,指示器612、614可以表示轮208、210向左转15°(L)。
