技术领域
本发明涉及一种硬盘驱动器。更明确地,本发明涉及一种用于改进硬盘驱动中继柔性电路组件与磁头弹簧片组件(HGA)挠曲电缆的电连接的***和方法。
背景技术
图1给出了一种典型的硬盘驱动器的图解。硬盘驱动存储设备通常包括安装成利用主轴马达2进行旋转的旋转盘1。由致动器臂5支撑的滑块3,在磁盘1的表面高速“飞行”以从/向盘1的同心数据磁迹上读取和写入数据。滑块3通过嵌入在音圈架8中的音圈7而被径向定位。
在通常的硬盘驱动器中,电控制信号通过中继柔性电路9被传递给音圈7。一般,中继柔性电路9还将读/写数据传递给滑块/磁头3。通过印刷电路板(PCB)的工作来控制具有磁头/滑块3(也称为磁头组组件(HSA))的臂5的位置。
图2展示了现有技术中典型的磁头组组件(HSA)的更详细的视图。致动器臂5安装在致动器组件(图中未示出)上并且附着于枢轴构件6。每个致动器臂5具有悬挂挠曲电缆(HGA挠曲电缆)20,该电缆从磁头/滑块3连向多个连接垫19。通过将挠曲电缆连接垫19结和(例如通过焊料块或金球焊(gold ballbonding)15)到多个柔性电路结合垫16,从而连接垫19与柔性电路组件9电耦合。
图3展示了现有技术中典型的音圈致动器组件的详细视图。中继柔性电路9通过音圈架8上突出的定位销17与音圈架8对齐(***电路板14上的孔中来限定柔性电路组件9)。定位之后,像图2和4示出的那样,柔性电路组件9可以与HGA(图中未示出)电耦合。
图4展示了现有技术中典型的将HGA挠曲电缆连接垫与柔性电路结合垫电耦合的详细视图。通常,利用结合方法15,如焊料块或者金球焊,将HGA挠曲电缆连接垫19与柔性电路结合垫16电耦合。如上文所述,利用定位销17来定位中继柔性电路组件(图中未示出)的电路板14。如上文所述,电路板14的结合垫16通过诸如焊接块或者金球焊15的方法与挠曲电缆连接垫19电耦合。
因为这种设计需要将电结合物15放置在HGA挠曲电缆(图中未示出)的延展板18和电路板14形成的内部角落,这造成了难于建立结合。进行操作的空间非常有限。垫16、18的校准及它们的电耦合是非常大的难题。该难题不利地影响了工艺的质量和效果。加工和装备成本因此增加。此外,焊接该垫16、18之间的电连接15时出现的问题是,在焊接之后必须立即清除结合物。有效焊接所需的焊剂必须移除。移除焊剂非常困难和昂贵。主要由锡构成的焊料会导致元件的污染。在焊接过程中,锡可能会溅出,从而引起周围电元件和/或盘介质的损坏。
因此需要一种用于改进硬盘驱动中继柔性电路组件与磁头弹簧片组件(HGA)挠曲电缆的电连接的***和方法来避免上述的问题,并且获得额外的好处。

具体实施方式
图5展示了依照本发明实施例的具有U形中继柔性电路到挠曲电缆连接器的磁头弹簧片组件(HGA)。在一个实施例中,U形连接器21被固定在线圈架8的一部分上(将在下文参照附图6解释)。U形连接器21通过一个或多个定位销17来确保正确的定位。在这个实施例中,在挠曲电缆的每个延展板18上的垫(未示出)被结合在连接器21的顶/底部的垫(未示出)上(在下文中描述)。
图6展示了依照本发明实施例的音圈致动器组件(没有挠曲电缆或者臂附着)。在一个实施例中,附着到中继柔性电缆9的U形连接器21耦合于线圈架8上。在这个实施例中,连接器21被放置在线圈架8的一部分上,该位置处,在连接器21相对侧上的相对的接头片25固定到位于线圈架8的顶部和底部的凹槽23中(如图7描述的)。
图7展示了依照本发明实施例的中继柔性电缆的U形连接器到线圈架的连接。在一个实施例中,如上所述,连接器21被放置在线圈架8上。在这个实施例中,连接器21上的相对的接头片25被成形和定位以固定在线圈架8的顶部和底部的凹槽23中。在本实施例中,线圈架8上的定位销17安装在连接器21上的定位孔30上以确保适当的定位。
图8展示了依照本发明实施例的中继柔性电路的详细说明。在一个实施例中,中继柔性电路9通过环氧树脂31附着在连接器21上(进一步在下文描述)。
图9展示了依照本发明实施例的中继柔性电路到U形连接器的连接,以及连接器到线圈架的连接。在一个实施例中,如上文所述的,中继柔性电路9通过环氧树脂附着在U形连接器21上。在这个实施例中,中继柔性电路9上的结合垫16被诸如各向异性传导膜(ACF)的电传导膜24覆盖,在一个实施例中膜24是发粘的,其粘附到垫16上。
图10展示了依照本发明实施例的中继柔性电路上的结合垫到HGA挠曲电缆上的连接器垫的电耦合。在一个实施例中,粘附于结合垫16的传导膜24被压在挠曲电缆延展板18上的连接垫19上。在这个实施例中,在将挠曲电缆延展板18定位之后,垫16、18被结合。在这个实施例中,加热的结合端32被压在延展板18上。该结合端32加热并压缩传导膜24以便完成固化处理。

Claims (30)

1、一种制造硬盘驱动器臂的***,包括:
用于将中继柔性电缆耦合至音圈架组件的U形连接器,所述U形连接器包含多个普通平行板,其中
所述的平行板包含至少一个用于将所述中继柔性电缆电耦合到磁头万向节组件(HGA)挠曲电缆的结合垫。
2、如权利要求1所述的***,其中所述平行板包含多个相对的接头片。
3、如权利要求2所述的***,其中所述音圈架组件具有多个凹槽,所述凹槽被定位在所述音圈架组件相对侧上。
4、如权利要求3所述的***,其中所述凹槽被成形和定位成可接纳所述接头片。
5、如权利要求1所述的***,其中所述U形连接器包含至少一个定位孔,并且所述音圈架组件包含至少一个定位销,所述定位孔被成形和定位成可接纳所述定位销。
6、如权利要求1所述的***,其中通过传导结合剂将所述结合垫耦合到所述HGA挠曲电缆上的至少一个连接垫。
7、如权利要求6所述的***,其中所述结合剂包含多个电传导微粒。
8、如权利要求7所述的***,其中所述结合剂被压在所述结合垫和所述连接器垫之间,许多所述微粒在所述结合垫和所述连接器垫之间形成电通路。
9、如权利要求8所述的***,其中所述结合剂是各向异性传导膜(ACF)。
10、如权利要求1所述的***,其中所述音圈架组件为模制聚合树脂。
11、如权利要求1所述的***,其中所述音圈架组件为压模铝。
12、如权利要求1所述的***,其中所述U形连接器具有四个结合垫,并且所述HGA挠曲电缆具有四个连接垫。
13、如权利要求12所述的***,其中所述结合垫和所述连接垫是镀金的。
14、一种用于制造硬盘驱动器臂的方法,包括:
通过U形连接器将中继柔性电缆与音圈架组件耦合,所述U形连接器包含多个普通平行板,并且所述平行板包含至少一个用于将所述中继柔性电缆电耦合到磁头弹簧片组件(HGA)挠曲电缆的结合垫。
15、如权利要求14所述的方法,其中所述平行板包括多个相对的接头片。
16、如权利要求15所述的方法,其中所述音圈架具有多个凹槽,所述凹槽被定位在所述音圈架组件相对侧上。
17、如权利要求16所述的方法,其中所述凹槽被成形和定位成能接纳所述接头片。
18、如权利要求14所述的方法,其中所述U形连接器包含至少一个定位孔,并且所述音圈架组件包含至少一个定位销,所述定位孔被成形和定位成能接纳所述定位销。
