“聚烯烃”是指聚乙烯或聚丙烯。聚乙烯是指主要为线性的聚乙烯材料,其具有优选大于1百万的分子量,可含有少量支链或每100个主链碳原子不超过5个改性单元的共聚单体,并且其还可含有与其混合的不大于约50重量%的一种或多种聚合添加剂,如烯烃-1-聚合物,特别是低密度聚乙烯、聚丙烯等,或者通常引入的低分子量添加剂例如抗氧化剂、润滑剂、紫外线遮蔽剂、着色剂等。这在扩展链聚乙烯(ECPE)中是公知的。类似地,聚丙烯是主要为线性的聚丙烯材料,其具有优选大于1百万的分子量。高分子量线性聚烯烃纤维是可购得到的。聚烯烃纤维的制备在US4,457,985中讨论。
聚苯并噁唑和聚苯并噻唑优选的是由以下结构的链节组成:

虽然与氨原子结合的所示芳族基团可以是杂环,但是它们优选的是碳环;并且虽然它们可以是稠合或未稠合的多环体系,但它们优选的是单6元环。虽然在二-唑的主链中所示的基团是优选的对亚苯基,但是该基团可以被任何不干扰聚合物制备的任何二价有机基团置换,或者根本没有基团。例如,该基团可以是最多12个碳原子的脂肪族基团、亚苄基、亚联苯基、二-亚苯基醚等。
用来制备本发明纤维的聚苯并噁唑和聚苯并噻唑应该具有至少25,优选的是至少100个链节单元。聚合物的制备和这些聚合物的纺丝公开在上述的国际公开WO93/20400中。
“织物紧密系数”和“覆盖系数”是赋予织物织造密度的名字。覆盖系数是与织造几何结构相关的计算值,并且表示被织物纱线覆盖的织物总表面积的百分数。用来计算覆盖系数的公式如下(来自Weaving:Conversion of Yarns to Fabric,Lord and Mohamed,published by Merrow(1982),141-143页):

根据织物织造的种类,即使织物的纱线靠近在一起,但是最大覆盖系数可相当低。由于这一原因,织造织纹的紧密度的更有用的指标称为“织物紧密系数”。织物紧密系数是与最大织造织纹紧密度相比,织物织造紧密度的度量,其是覆盖系数的函数。
例如,对于平纹织纹织物的可能最大覆盖系数为0.75;所以实际覆盖系数为0.45的平纹织纹织物的织物紧密系数为0.60。不同的织物织纹,例如平纹、斜纹或缎纹织纹和它们的变化织纹,能够用于本发明的织物。实际上本发明优选的织纹是斜纹和缎纹织纹和它们的变化织纹,其中包括四经破缎纹织纹,有时是已知的4通丝缎纹织纹,这是由于它们比平纹织纹更加柔软和柔韧并且可以更好地贴合到复杂的曲线和表面上。
用于本发明的纱线必须具有至少10克/分特(11.1克/旦尼尔)的高强度并且对于强度没有上限。强度低于5克/分特,纱线对于有意义的防护不能表现出足够的强度。纱线必须具有至少150克/分特的拉伸模量,因为太低的模量将导致过大的纤维伸长和子弹运动的无效限制。对于拉伸模量没有上限。
本发明的织造织物的单层可提供防弹性的度量,因此提供防护程度的度量,但是在最终的防弹物品中需要具有至少两个松散织造织物层的多个层。正是使用了具有总面密度至少为2至10kg/m2,优选2,5至8kg/m2的多个织物层,其是通过每单位面积的织物层的总重量而测得的,其中至少两个织物层是松散的织造织物层,本发明表现出其突出且出人意料的改进。现已发现,本发明的松散的织造织物层放在一起时,优选的是多层放在一起,当松散的织造织物层彼此固定从而在相邻层之间限制相对运动时,提供了出人意料的有效防弹性。
本发明的防护物品的结构还可与其它的织造或非织造防弹层的纤维网眼织物联合使用,例如单向的,单织造的等。这些层可以由芳族聚酰胺、聚烯烃、聚苯并噁唑、聚苯并噻唑或其它用于防弹的常用的聚合物制造。本发明的织物层可以放置在其它防弹层的下面或上面,或两个其它防弹层之间。如果需要,本发明的织物还能够用基质树脂或粘合剂进行涂覆或浸渍,从而增加织物层的刚性。
测试方法
线密度:纱线或长丝的线密度是通过称重已知长度的纱线或长丝而确定的。“分特”是定义为材料10,000米的重量,以克计。“旦尼尔”是定义为材料9000米的重量,以克计。
在实际情况中,在测试之前,把所测得的纱线或长丝样品的分特、测试条件和样品标识输入计算机;计算机记录线断裂时的负荷-伸长曲线,然后计算特性。
拉伸性能:对于拉伸性能的测试的纱线首先被调湿,然后捻成1.1的捻系数。纱线的捻系数TM定义为:
TM=(捻数/厘米)(分特)-1/2/30.3
  =(捻数/英寸)(旦尼尔)-1/2/73
待测的纱线在25℃、55%相对湿度调湿最少14小时,并且在这些条件下进行拉伸试验。强度(断裂强度)、断裂伸长率和拉伸模量通过断裂试验纱线在Insron试验机(Instron Engineering Corp.,Canton,Mass)上测定。
使用25.4厘米的纱线测量长度和50%应变/分钟的伸长速度,测定强度、伸长率和拉伸模量,如ASTM D2101-1985中所定义的。模量由在1%应变时的应力-应变曲线的斜率计算,并且等于在1%应变(绝对)时的应力(用克表示)乘以100,除以测试纱线的线密度。
单长丝的强度、伸长率和拉伸模量是与纱线的相同方式进行测定;但是长丝不经受加捻和使用2.54cm测量长度。
防弹性能:根据MIL-STD-662e进行多层板的防弹测试,以确定防弹极限(V50),所不同的是子弹的选择有所不同,其如下所述:把待测的板靠着Roma Plasti1ina No.1的背衬材料放置在样品支架上,使板保持拉紧并垂直于测试子弹的路径。子弹是9mm全金属外壳***子弹,重124格令和.357大外壳软尖端子弹,重158格令,并且能够以不同的速度从发射子弹的测试用的枪膛射出。对于每个板的第一次射击是为了使估算的子弹速度成为可能的防弹极限(V50)。当第一次射击产生了完全的板穿透时,下一次射击的子弹速度约小15.5米(50英尺)/秒,以获得该板的部分穿透。另一方面,当第一次发射不产生穿透或部分穿透时,下一次发射的速度约大15.2米/秒(50英尺)/秒,以获得完全穿透。在获得一次部分穿透和一次完全穿透之后,随后使用增大或减小约15.2米(50英尺)/秒的速度,直至进行足够的发射,以测定该板的防弹极限(V50)。
通过找出等数量的至少三个最高部分穿透冲击速度和最低完全穿透冲击速度的算数平均值来计算防弹极限(V50),条件时在最高和最低各个冲击速度之间的差值不大于38.1米(125英尺)/秒。
实施例
在下面的实施例中,用数个织物层的复合材料来测定其防弹的穿透性。16″×16″的防弹板构成该测试,其中所有织物层绕着边缘缝合并且用十字针迹对角地附加缝合。具有不同紧密系数的几种不同织物由不同材料的纱线构成并且这些织物以各种织物紧密系数和5.4至6.2kg/m2之间的面密度进行测试。
实施例1-4和比较例5
由芳族聚酰胺纱线织造的数个层用于制备这些实施例。纱线是由E.I.du Pont de Nemours and Company销售芳族聚酰胺纱线,商标是Kevlar。该芳族聚酰胺是聚(对苯二甲酰对苯二胺)。
在实施例1中,40层的织物是由1111分特Kevlar29以6.3×6.3根经纱/厘米的平纹织纹织造而成的,织物的紧密系数为0.59,面密度为5.8kg/m2。在实施例2中,除了织物是以6.7×6.7根经纱/厘米的四经破缎纹织纹构成和织物具有0.53紧密系数及约6.2kg/m2的面密度以外,40层的织物如同实施例1一样制作而成。
在实施例3中,40层的织物是由933分特Kevlar129以7×7根经纱/厘米的平纹织纹织造而成的,织物的紧密系数为0.6,面密度为5.4kg/m2。在实施例4中,40层的织物除了以7.9×7.9根经纱/厘米的四经破缎纹织纹构成和织物具有0.56紧密系数及约5.8kg/m2的面密度以外,其如同实施例3一样制作而成。
在比较例5中,织物以与实施例1-4织物近似相同的面密度制成。织物包括22层紧密织造的织物,该织物由933分特Kevlar129以12.2×12.2根经纱/厘米的平纹织纹织造而成,织物的紧密系数为0.93,面密度为5.4kg/m2
实施例1至4和比较例5的织物构造概述在下列的表1中。
实施例1至4和比较例5中的织物层的防弹V50以相对于9mm,和.357mag大子弹进行测试。防弹测试结果示于表2中,其结果表明,对于本发明的物品,如所示的实施例1至4的V50,明显大于比较例5物品的V50。总之,与比较例5的物品相比,本发明的物品被示出有7.5至13%的改进。

聚苯并噁唑(PBO)纱线织造的数层用来制备这些实施例。该纱线由Toyobo Co.,Ltd销售,商标是Zylon
在实施例6中,40层的织物是由1111分特Zylon以6.3×6.3根经纱/厘米的平纹织纹织造而成的,织物的紧密系数为0.59,面密度为约5.8kg/m2。在实施例7中,除了织物是以7.5×7.5根经纱/厘米的四经破缎纹织纹构成和织物具有0.58紧密系数及约5.9kg/m2的面密度以外,35层的织物如同实施例6一样制作而成。
在比较例8中,30层织物是由1111分特Zylon以8.7×8.3根经纱/厘米织造而成的,织物紧密系数为0.76,并且面密度为5.8kg/m2
实施例6至7和比较例8的织物结构概述在下面的表3中。
实施例6至7和比较例8的织物层以如同上述的实施例1至4和比较例5的方式进行测试。相对于9mm和.357mag子弹的防弹测试结果示于表4中,其结果表明本发明物品的V50明显大于比较例的V50。总之,与比较例8的物品相比,本发明的物品被示出有5.9至13%的改进。

Claims (12)

1.一种柔性防弹物品,该物品包括数个具有2至10kg/m2面密度的织物层,其中至少两个织物层松散地被织造,所述松散织造织物层包括以0.3至0.6织物紧密系数织造的织物并且包括连续的长丝纱线,该纱线具有至少200分特的线性密度,至少10克/分特的强度和至少150克/分特的拉伸模量,其中为固定这些层,相邻的松散织造织物层通过某些方式连接在一起以限制松散织造织物层的彼此相对运动。
2.根据权利要求1所述的柔性防弹物品,其中物品具有2.5至8kg/m2的面密度。
3.根据权利要求1所述的柔性防弹物品,其中松散织造织物层包括基质树脂或粘合剂。
4.根据权利要求1所述的柔性防弹物品,其中松散织造织物层包括芳族聚酰胺纱线。
5.根据权利要求4所述的柔性防弹物品,其中芳族聚酰胺纱线是聚(对苯二甲酰对苯二胺)纱线。
6.根据权利要求1所述的柔性防弹物品,其中松散织造织物层包括聚烯烃纱线。
7.根据权利要求1所述的柔性防弹物品,其中松散织造织物层包括聚苯并噁唑或聚苯并噻唑纱线。
8.根据权利要求1所述的柔性防弹物品,其中在松散织造织物层的经纱方向和纬纱方向上的纱线是不同的。
9.根据权利要求8所述的柔性防弹物品,其中经纱方向上的纱线包括芳族聚酰胺而纬纱方向上的纱线包括聚苯并噁唑或聚苯并噻唑。
10.根据权利要求8所述的柔性防弹物品,其中经纱方向上的纱线包括聚苯并噁唑或聚苯并噻唑而纬纱方向上的纱线包括芳族聚酰胺。
11.根据权利要求1所述的柔性防弹物品,其中松散织造织物层包括具有0.5至0.8分特线密度的纱线。
12.根据权利要求1所述的柔性防弹物品,其具有足够数量的松散织造织物层,以使该物品对于9mm的子弹具有大于320米/秒的防弹V50。
