Description
Technical Field
The present invention claims priority from french application 2103103 filed at month 3 of 2021, the contents of which (text, figures and claims) are incorporated herein by reference.
The present invention relates to the technical field of motor vehicles and more particularly four-bar-mechanism hinges (charnieres pantographes) used for maneuvering doors and windows (ouvrant) of motor vehicles.
Background
In the automotive field, it is known to use four bar mechanism hinges to manipulate the doors and windows of a motor vehicle. Advantageously, the four bar mechanism hinge allows more tangents to be superimposed between the door and window and the vehicle body when the door and window are closed. The four bar mechanism hinge is thus increasingly used to create new aesthetics.
The four bar mechanism hinge is a more complex hinge than the scissors type hinge or the gooseneck type hinge generally used in the art. The four-bar hinge is composed of a fixed joint for being integrally connected with the body of the motor vehicle and a movable joint for holding the door and window. The fixed joint and the movable joint are coupled by means of a secondary link. Each end of the secondary link is held at a joint by means of a pivot connection, the axis of rotation of which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the secondary link. The secondary link thus allows for a deviating or approaching movement of the joint along a non-circular trajectory.
Because of the number of parts and the complexity of the part articulation, the four-bar hinge is more flexible than the hinges commonly used in the automotive field. In order to strengthen the rigidity of the four bar mechanism hinge, it has proven necessary to put the four bar mechanism hinge under mechanical constraint when the four bar mechanism hinge is closed.
This positioning constraint is implemented by means of a mechanical stop articulated with the fixed joint, the free end of which has a flat surface and is intended to abut against a flat flange of the secondary link. Despite this placement constraint, it has been observed that there is a lateral sliding gap between the joints when the four bar mechanism hinge is closed.
The present invention aims to reduce this lateral sliding gap by providing a four bar mechanism hinge comprising a dedicated centering device.
Disclosure of Invention
To this end, the present invention provides a four-bar mechanism hinge comprising:
-a fixed joint for being integral with the body of a motor vehicle; and
-a movable joint for holding a door or window; and
-two secondary links, the ends of which are held to the joint by means of a pivot connection, the rotation axis of which is parallel to the same working axis, one of the secondary links comprising a flange extending in a direction parallel or substantially parallel to the working axis; and
-the fixed joint comprises a mechanical stop configured to abut against a flange of the secondary link when the four bar hinge is closed.
The invention is characterized in that the mechanical stop and the flange of the secondary link have complementary forms so as to engage in a radial or substantially radial direction with respect to the working axis when the four-bar hinge is refolded
The engagement of the mechanical stop with the flange of the secondary link advantageously enables a new mechanical connection to be made between the fixed joint and the secondary link. Thereby, the mechanical rigidity of the four-bar mechanism hinge increases during the folding of the four-bar mechanism hinge. When the four bar mechanism hinge is closed, the sliding phenomenon between the joints is thereby reduced.
The invention also relates to the following implementation variants:
-when the four-bar-mechanism hinge is closed, at least one surface of the mechanical stop comprised along a plane radial with respect to the working axis is in contact with at least one surface of the flange of the secondary link;
-when the four bar mechanism hinge is closed, at least one surface of the mechanical stop comprised along a plane parallel or substantially parallel to the working axis is in contact with at least one surface of the flange of the secondary link;
-the top of the mechanical stop has a convex form;
-the flange of the secondary link comprises a recess having a form complementary to the top of the mechanical stop;
-a flange of the secondary link supporting a boss pin positioned face-to-face with the fixed joint and whose face facing the mechanical stop comprises a recess having a form complementary to the top of the mechanical stop;
-the top of the mechanical stop has a concave form;
-the flange of the secondary link comprises an extension having a form complementary to the top of the mechanical stop;
-the flange of the secondary link supporting a boss pin, which is positioned face-to-face with the fixed joint, and the face of which facing the mechanical stop comprises a recess or a boss having a form complementary to the top of the mechanical stop;
-the mechanical stop is screwed in the fixed joint and when the mechanical stop and the flange are fitted, the screwing axis of the mechanical stop is perpendicular to the axis passing through the pivot connection of the secondary link comprising the flange.
Other advantages and features will become more apparent from the description that follows.

Detailed Description
It is noted that the present invention provides a four-bar mechanism hinge capable of reducing a lateral sliding phenomenon between joints of the hinge in a closed position.
Fig. 1 to 4 show a non-limiting embodiment of a four-bar hinge 2 according to the invention.
The four-bar linkage hinge 2 includes a fixed joint 4 and a movable joint 6. The fixed joint is intended to be fixed to the body (not shown) of a motor vehicle. The movable joint is used for fixing on a door or window (not shown). The joints are coupled to each other by means of two secondary links 8, 8A. The ends of the secondary links are held to the joint by means of a pivot connection 10. The pivot connection 10 enables the secondary link to pivot about an axis of rotation that is parallel or substantially parallel to the working axis 12 seen in fig. 2.
The fixation joint 4 comprises a protruding edge 14. The edge 14 extends in a direction parallel or substantially parallel to the working axis 12. An opening is provided through the rim 14 to enable the mechanical stop 16 to pass. According to this example, the mechanical stop comprises a tapped threaded rod, and the inner wall of the opening is tapped in order to precisely regulate the length of the free end of the tapped threaded rod beyond the edge 14. According to this example, the top 18 of the mechanical stop has a convex form (more precisely a conical form).
The flange 20 of the secondary link 8A also extends in a direction parallel or substantially parallel to the working axis 12. The flange is disposed on the secondary link and is disposed face-to-face with the mechanical stop 16. As shown in fig. 3 and 4, the flange 20 includes a recess 22 configured to allow engagement of the top 18 of the mechanical stop when the four bar hinge is closed (see fig. 3 and 4).
Thus, when the four bar hinge 2 is refolded, a new mechanical connection is formed between the fixed knuckle and the link 8A by the superposition of the top 18 of the mechanical stop in the recess 22 of the flange 20. The mechanical rigidity of the four bar mechanism hinge is thereby increased and lateral sliding phenomena between the joints are minimized. In other words, the mechanical stop 16 and the flange 20 of the secondary link 8A form a centring means during the closure of the four-bar hinge 2.
Preferably, the inner wall of the opening extends along the axis 24 while forming an angle with the axis 26 (which passes through the centre of the pivotal connection 10), said angle having a value of about 90 °, preferably equal to 90 °.
Fig. 5 shows an embodiment variant of the invention which differs from the embodiment described above in that the flange 20 of the secondary link is not recessed. The flange 20 serves as a support for the boss pin 28 which is held face-to-face with the mechanical stop 16. The male pin comprises a recess at its top 30 position, which recess has a complementary form to the top 18 of the mechanical stop, so as to allow the engagement of the top when the four-bar-mechanism hinge 2 is closed.
Fig. 6 shows an embodiment variant of the invention which differs from the embodiment described above in that the male pin 28, which is held face-to-face with the mechanical stop 16, comprises a male part 32 having a form complementary to a female part 34 provided at the top of the mechanical stop 16.
Of course, the invention is not limited to these individual embodiments, so that the engagement of the mechanical stop with the flange of the secondary link can be carried out in other ways.
