Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to the field of glazing units comprising, along at least a portion of at least one longitudinal edge, a covering element, in particular forming a decorative element, attached to a pane of glass by means of a plurality of clips.
The invention has been described with reference to the use of a vehicle glazing unit comprising a glazing, in particular a laminated glazing, which thus comprises an outer sheet of glass, an inner sheet of glass and, between the two sheets of glass, a laminated sheet of plastic material, the glazing having an outer face, an edge face and an inner face.
The invention relates more particularly to a glazing unit comprising a plurality of clips for attaching the covering member to the glazing, the clips comprising, viewed in cross section, a base located vertically below the inner edge of the glazing, the base being fixed to the inner edge.
Background
In the prior art, a solution is known from german patent application DE 19939191, which relates to a localized clip for attaching a covering part to a window pane. In this document, the hollow rib of the clip, which is open towards the outside, extends in an internal direction, mainly more inwards than the internal face of the window pane, when the clip is seen in cross section, in order to receive the harpoon formed on the internal face of the covering part also in the internal direction.
This attachment is not sufficiently reliable, because the covering part moves too much during operation of the vehicle, and for this reason it has never been implemented industrially. Furthermore, it is bulky.
From the prior art are also known many solutions for attaching a covering part to a window pane, which use a profiled strip instead of or in addition to the clip(s).
The profiled strip differs from a clip in that a clip constitutes a localised or localised attachment at a particular location along the edge of a glazing unit, over a few millimetres up to a few centimetres, whilst a profiled strip is a component which extends generally completely along the edge of the glazing unit. The profiled strip may allow the cover part to be attached more securely to the glazing unit than the clip, but it requires more material; thus, the molding strip attachment configuration is more expensive and makes the glazing unit heavier than attachment configurations involving the clip(s).
Furthermore, the attachment of the covering part with the profiled strip takes time and requires a good control of the action, pressing strongly enough along the entire covering part to attach it correctly to the profiled strip, but not so strongly as to avoid damaging the part, which is, by definition, crucial for the appearance of the vehicle.
In this respect, international patent application WO 2011/018379a1 is known from the prior art and proposes the attachment of a cover part with a profiled strip, while forming a space between the window pane and the cover part.
Patent applications WO 2010/037432 and US 2014/0332519 are also known from the prior art and each describe the use of a continuous profiled element for the attachment of a cover part, each profiled element extending completely along the edge of the glazing unit.
In the above-mentioned documents, the covering part has the specific feature of being attached only to the glazing unit: in the finished vehicle, the covering part is attached and/or fixed to the body of the vehicle by other means; in this respect, the covering part may be referred to as a (covering) part of the vehicle body, rather than a (covering) part of the glazing unit.
The main feature of the components of the glazing unit is that they are provided by the glass manufacturer together with the glazing; the components of the glazing unit belong to the glazing unit itself (which is intended to be installed in a body opening, which is intended to close the body opening, as is done by the automotive manufacturer on a standard vehicle assembly line). When the glazing unit is integrated into an opening of a vehicle, it (a component of the glazing unit) is integrated into the vehicle, and correspondingly, when the glazing unit is removed from the opening of the vehicle, it is removed from the vehicle.
In contrast, the components of the vehicle body are not provided by the glass manufacturer, but are provided directly to the vehicle manufacturer by other component manufacturers; it is not offered (or delivered) together with the glazing unit and does not belong to the glazing unit. It is integrated into the vehicle and removed from the vehicle independently of the glazing unit.
Disclosure of Invention
The invention relates more particularly and preferably to a glazing unit whose cover part extends completely along the edge of the glazing unit. A covering part of the edge of such a glazing unit belongs to the glazing unit. In particular, in this case, the glazing unit has a covering element when it is manipulated, in order to be positioned in the body opening it is intended to close. Preferably, in the finished vehicle, the cover part of the edge of the glazing unit is not attached or fixed directly to the body of the vehicle at all; it is attached or fixed to the vehicle simultaneously with the glazing unit to which it belongs, since (or when) the glazing unit itself has been attached or fixed to the vehicle accordingly.
The present invention does not relate to a covering element of a vehicle body, which belongs to the vehicle body and not to the glazing unit.
Furthermore, patent applications FR 2890031 and GB 2116487 are known from the prior art, and each proposes the use of a continuous profiled element for the attachment of a cover part of a glazing unit, each profiled element extending completely along an edge of the glazing unit.
In the prior art, clips for attaching a cover part of an edge of a glazing unit also exist, for example in international patent application WO 07/003823, but these clips are not used for attaching a cover part of an edge of a glazing unit directly to a glazing: they are clips for indirectly attaching a cover part of the edge of a glazing unit to a window pane: these clips attach the covering part of the edge of the glazing unit to the profiled strip, which itself is fixed to the glazing by in-situ extrusion, in-situ moulding ("encapsulation") or by adhesive bonding of a pre-fabricated profiled strip.
The present invention aims to create a solution for quick, easy and efficient attachment of a covering part along an edge of a glazing unit without the need to provide a sealing profile strip secured to the glazing and located between the glazing and the covering part, in order to save material and weight on such an elongate sealing profile strip.
The invention aims to create a particularly compact and reliable solution for attaching a covering element into a glazing unit.
In contrast to the elongated profiled strip solution, attaching the covering part by means of a plurality of clips is reliable, while providing a certain degree of flexibility: clamping the covering part onto the plurality of clips requires less force than along the profiled strip and, therefore, there is less risk of damaging the attached or covering part during the mounting process. Installation is faster and easier. Furthermore, each clip provides the possibility of adjusting the position of the covering element. This attachment is also easier to detach.
To this end, the subject of the invention is a glazing unit for a vehicle as claimed in claim 1. The dependent claims define advantageous features.
The vehicle glazing unit comprises a glazing, in particular a laminated glazing, comprising an outer glass sheet, an inner glass sheet and a laminated sheet of plastic material located between the two glass sheets, the glazing having an outer face intended to be oriented towards an outer space, an edge face and an inner face intended to be oriented towards an inner space, the glazing unit comprising, along at least a portion of at least one longitudinal edge, an elongate covering member, which covering member forms in particular a decorative piece.
The glazing unit further comprises a plurality of clips for attaching the cover member to the glazing pane, the clips comprising, as seen in cross-section, a base located vertically below an inner edge of the glazing pane, the base being secured to the inner edge.
The glazing unit being characterised in that the or each clip further comprises, starting from the base in the centrifugal direction:
-a base extension located in the continuation of the base, more internal than the pane, and then
A coupling part located more inside than the covering part and having a distal lateral boss at the centrifugal end,
and in that the covering member has a distal lateral rib at the centrifugal end covering the distal lateral boss, so as to allow mechanically holding the distal lateral rib against the distal lateral boss. This retention achieves distal grip of the covering member on the clip.
Preferably, the or each clip is secured only to the inner edge of the glazing; it is not fixed to the edge face of the pane or to the outer edge of the pane, but only on the basis of the inner edge of the pane.
Preferably, the or each clip is at a distance (non-contact) from the edge face of the glazing and at a distance (non-contact) from the outer edge of the glazing to form a sufficiently large free space relative to the edge face of the glazing unit.
Within the meaning of the present invention, the term "attached" is to be understood as a mechanical attachment, which is attached and detached manually or by means of a mechanical tool. Thus, the attached object is in a fixed position; coupling or clamping is an attachment.
Within the meaning of the present invention, the term "fixation" is understood to mean chemical fixation which, unless the connection is broken and the clamp becomes unusable, would cause an irreversible molecular change. Bonding is a fixation.
Each of these two expressions excludes the other.
The ribs are ridges of protruding material. It is usually made of two parts, in which case it is preferably positioned substantially at right angles, as seen in cross-section.
Preferably, in order to increase the reliability of the attachment, the coupling portion also has a proximal lateral boss at the centripetal end, and the covering member has a proximal lateral rib at the centripetal end, which rib covers the proximal lateral boss, so that the proximal lateral rib can be mechanically held against the proximal lateral boss. This retention achieves a proximal grip of the covering member on the clip.
Preferably, to increase the compactness of the attachment, the distal lateral boss, and preferably also the proximal lateral boss, are positioned opposite the edge face of the inner glass sheet.
Preferably, the distal lateral boss and the proximal lateral boss are opposite to each other; they occupy the same position along the external-internal direction.
Preferably, in order to prevent the presence of dust, said distal lateral rib and/or said proximal lateral rib have a distal sealing lip and/or a proximal sealing lip, respectively.
Preferably, in order to increase the compactness of the attachment, the coupling portion has an outer surface opposite the edge face of the pane and preferably opposite the edge face of the sandwich sheet made of plastic material.
Preferably, in order to increase the reliability of the attachment, an adhesive material is located in contact between the inner face of the cover part and the coupling part, the adhesive material preferably being positioned in an outer recess of the coupling part.
Preferably, to improve the accuracy of the attachment, the spacer is located more inside than the coupling portion.
Preferably, in order to increase the compactness of the assembly thus attached, the outer face of the covering element is located in continuation of the outer face of the pane; the outer faces of the cover parts are preferably positioned at a distance apart, i.e. without mutual contact, in the continuation of the outer faces of the panes; with a space between each other.
Preferably, in order to increase the compactness of the attachment, the total thickness of the covering part is between 0.8 and 1.5 times the thickness of the glazing, or even between 0.9 and 1.2 times the thickness of the glazing.
Preferably, in order to increase the compactness of the attachment, the overall thickness of the clip is between 1.8 and 2.5 times the thickness of the glazing, or even between 1.9 and 2.2 times the thickness of the glazing.
Preferably, the glazing unit according to the invention has a plurality of clips distributed along the longitudinal edge, each clip being fixed on the inner face of the pane and extending beyond the edge face of the pane in the centrifugal direction.
Advantageously, the invention makes it possible to attach a covering element in a reliable and compact manner in a glazing unit. A compact attachment solution makes it possible to reduce the height of the slot for accommodating the opening of the glazing unit at its periphery. This therefore makes it possible to increase the volume available inside for one and the same external configuration.
Furthermore, the invention may be used for attachment, for example, at each of the two ends of the edge of the glazing unit, with a clip at each end, and another attachment at the central portion of the edge of the glazing unit, in addition to being used for attachment.

Detailed Description
As shown in fig. 1, the invention relates to a glazing unit 1 comprising a pane 2, the pane 2 itself having a window 2'. The pane 2 is laminated and comprises an outer glass sheet 3, an inner glass sheet 5 and, in contact with the two glass sheets, a sandwich sheet 4 made of plastic material between the two glass sheets.
The invention has been described by way of example in application as a vehicle glazing unit providing a separation between an exterior space E located outside the vehicle and an interior space I located inside the vehicle. Therefore, the concepts of "outside" and "inside" are considered with respect to the external space E and the internal space I, respectively.
In the drawings, the glass sheets are each shown as having rounded edge faces. However, the edge faces may be straight, so that the angle between the edge face and the other edge face is at right angles.
In particular, the invention is described as applied to a roof glazing unit, and more particularly, where it is applied to the left and right edges of a roof glazing unit, as shown in fig. 1. Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a glazing unit 1 from the outside before it is installed in a vehicle body opening.
In the context of this document, the concepts of "centrifugal" and "centripetal" should be considered with respect to the central longitudinal axis of forward movement of a vehicle equipped with a glazing unit according to the invention as roof glazing, that is to say, this axis is generally referred to as the X-X' axis of the vehicle, as shown in fig. 1; the centripetal direction is perpendicular to and towards the axis (or the centre of the glazing unit) and the centrifugal direction is perpendicular to the axis and away from the axis (or the centre of the glazing unit) in the opposite direction.
In this case, the glass window unit 1 is used to close an opening formed in a body of a vehicle. The edge of the opening, in this case for example the left-hand edge, is indicated in fig. 4 by a notch 9.
The pane 2 of the glazing unit 1 may be a monolithic pane consisting of a single glass sheet, but here it is preferably a laminated pane comprising, from the outside to the inside and in contact, at least: an outer glass sheet 3, an interlayer sheet 4 made of plastic material and an inner glass sheet 5; however, it is also possible to insert at least one further sheet between the outer glass sheet 3 and the interlayer sheet 4 made of plastic material or between the interlayer sheet 4 made of plastic material and the inner glass sheet 5.
The outer glass sheet 3 has an outer face 30 oriented towards the outside E, an interlayer face 32 oriented towards the interlayer sheet 4 made of plastic material and an edge face 31 located between these two faces.
The inner glass sheet 5 has a sandwich face 50 oriented towards the sandwich sheet 4 made of plastic material, an inner face 52 oriented towards the inner I and an edge face 51 located between these two faces.
The sandwich sheet 4 made of plastic material has an outer sandwich face 40, which is oriented towards the sandwich face 32 and in this case is in contact with this sandwich face 32; an inner sandwich face 42, which is oriented towards the sandwich face 50 and in this case is in contact with this sandwich face 50; and an edge face 41 which is located between the two sandwich faces 32, 42.
The pane 2 thus has an outer face 20 realized by the outer face 30 of the outer glass sheet 3, an inner face 22 realized by the inner face 52 of the inner glass sheet 5 and an edge face 21 lying between these two faces, corresponding to the edge face 31 of the outer glass sheet 3, the edge face 41 of the sandwich sheet 4 made of plastic material and the edge face 51 of the inner glass sheet 5, which here lie substantially in continuation of one another, by more or less than 1 mm.
The glazing unit 1 is intended to be glued to the notch 9 by means of a glue strip, not shown, located between the inner face 52 of the inner glass sheet and the adjacent portion of the notch 9.
The glazing unit 1 comprises, in addition to the pane 2, an elongate covering member 6 (in this case forming a decorative piece) along at least a portion of at least one edge (in this case the left longitudinal edge).
The covering member 6 extends to the side of the window pane 2 without covering it at all. It has an outer face 60 and an inner face 62.
The cover member 6 comprises a central, solid main body 61 (which extends completely along the cover member), and, as shown in cross-section:
a distal lateral wing 63, directed inwardly and terminated by a distal lateral rib 64, at one side, at the centrifugal end, and
on the other side, at the centripetal end, an inwardly directed proximal lateral wing 63'.
The proximal lateral wing 63' is closer to the edge face 21 of the window glass than the distal lateral wing 63.
Each lateral wing 63, 63' extends completely along the covering element towards the interior I. The angle between the main body 61 and the lateral wings is preferably slightly less than 90 °, in particular between 70 ° and 85 °, in this case 80 °; thus, the general directions of the two lateral wings intersect at a point (not shown here).
The rib is the end of a lateral wing which is divided into two parts, a first part connected to the lateral wing and oriented substantially perpendicular to the external-internal direction, and then a second part oriented substantially along the external-internal direction at the end of the first part. The ribs thus have an angle that can act as a seat.
In order to attach the cover part 6 locally to the glazing unit 1, the glazing unit also has at least one clip 7.
In essence, the clip constitutes a small component compared to the covering component, the clip preferably extending completely along the glazing unit and thus having a length of a few decimetres. The length of the clip is preferably less than one tenth of the length of the covering member. The length of the clip is preferably a few millimetres up to a few centimetres long.
The clip is a solid piece made of plastic material. Internal reinforcement strip(s) may be provided inside the clip to increase its rigidity.
As can be seen from fig. 2, the glazing unit 1 has a plurality of clips 7 distributed along the longitudinal edges of the glazing in order to attach the covering member 6 to the glazing 2 at as many locations on the glazing 2 as there are clips.
The distance between each clip is preferably the same, but the clips may be brought closer together at a position where a higher retention of the covering member is desired. The distance is between 10 and 50cm, preferably between 15 and 35cm, and in this case is exactly 20 cm.
This localised attachment of the covering element by each clip is achieved without the aid of profiled sealing strips.
Each clip 7 is fixed to the inner face 22 of the glazing and extends beyond the edge face 21 of the glazing in the centrifugal direction. Each clip 7 is glued to the inner face 22 of the glazing.
The clip 7 comprises, viewed in cross section, a base 70 located vertically below the inner edge of the pane 2. The base 70 is below the interior face 22 of the windowpane and is at least partially in contact with the interior face 22 of the windowpane. The base 70 is fixed to the inner edge of the glazing, and only to the inner edge, by means of an adhesive layer 10 located in the outer recess of the base 70; preferably, the base 70 is not fixed to the edge face of the window pane, nor to the outer edge of the window pane, so that the fixed clamping of the covering part to the window pane is as solid as possible.
The clip 7 further has, in the centrifugal direction from the base 70:
a base extension 71, which is located in the continuation of the base 70, more inside than the pane 2. The base extension 71 has an outer surface 710, which outer surface 710 is more internal than the continuation of the inner face 22 of the pane, that is to say, below and more internal than the edge face 21 of the pane 2, and then
A coupling portion 72, the coupling portion 72 being located in the continuation of the base extension 70 and more external than the base extension 70.
The coupling portion 72 has a distal lateral boss 73 at the centrifugal end and a proximal lateral boss 73' at the centripetal end.
The distal 73 and proximal 73' lateral bosses are located opposite the edge face 51 of the inner glass sheet 5 and opposite each other.
The coupling portion 72 has an outer surface 720, the outer surface 720 being opposed to the edge face 21 of the window glass 2; the outer surface 720 extends laterally, but is neither more exterior than the exterior face 20 of the windowpane nor more interior than the interior face 22 of the windowpane.
More specifically, here, the outer surface 720 is opposite to the edge face 41 of the sandwich sheet 4 made of plastic material.
In cross section, the clip 7 has the overall shape of n and u adjacent to each other; n form the coupling portion 72.
The attachment of the covering member to the glazing unit is achieved as follows: moving the covering member towards the top of the coupling portion 72, the distal lateral rib 64 then covering the distal lateral boss 73, so as to mechanically hold the distal lateral rib against the distal lateral boss; this is the distal grip of the covering member 6 on the clip 7.
In fig. 3 and 4, the covering member 6 is attached to the clip 7 only by clipping the distal lateral rib 64 on the distal lateral boss 73. The proximal lateral rib 64 'is not in contact with the proximal lateral boss 73'.
To improve the attachment of the cover member to the glazing unit, the proximal lateral rib 64 'may cover the proximal lateral boss 73' so as to mechanically retain the proximal lateral rib against the proximal lateral boss; this is a proximal grip of the covering member 6 on the clip 7.
In order to improve the attachment of the cover part to the glazing unit, an adhesive material 11 may additionally or alternatively be provided in the form of an adhesive layer or tape, which is positioned in contact between the inner face 62 of the cover part 6 and the coupling portion 72, which adhesive material 11 is preferably positioned in the outer recess 74 of the coupling portion 72.
By performing these steps in the reverse order, the covering member can be detached (loosened).
Thus, for each lateral boss 73, 73', each rib 64, 64' has an angle that acts as a seat both in the outside-inside direction and in a direction perpendicular to the outside-inside direction.
The shortest distance between the two ribs 64 and 64' is less than the width of the coupling portion 72.
Above the outer surface 710 of the base extension 71, towards the outside, a free space 18 is formed between the edge face 21 of the window pane and the proximal lateral rib 64' of the covering part 6.
The distal lateral rib 64 and the proximal lateral rib 64 'have a distal sealing lip 8 and a proximal sealing lip 8', respectively. Each sealing lip extends completely along the covering member. Each of which is integral with or joined to the covering member. In the case of the sealing lips being bonded, they can be made (in cross section) with balls 80, 80' to be inserted into corresponding housings made in the lateral ribs with the same hollow shape.
The proximal sealing lip 8' is located in the free space 18.
The sealing lip is made of a flexible material for flexible contact with adjacent elements (body notch for the distal sealing lip 8 and edge face 21 of the window glass for the proximal sealing lip 8').
As can be seen in fig. 4, in order to manage and control the distance between the coupling portion 72 and the adjacent body opening notch 9, a spacer 12 may be provided. The spacer 12 is located more inward than the coupling portion 72. It is preferably integral with the clip 7 or glued to the inner face 722 of the coupling portion 72. Which preferably has the same length as the clip.
The outer face 60 of the cover part 6 is located in the continuation of the outer face 20 of the window pane 2 so as to give a near flush appearance. This makes it possible to limit aerodynamic effects and in particular noise and resistance to air infiltration. This is also an aesthetic appearance.
The covering member 6 itself is compact: the total thickness e6 of the covering part 6 is between 0.8 and 1.5 times the thickness e2 of the pane 2, or even between 0.9 and 1.2 times the thickness e2 of the pane 2; here, the thickness e6 is equal to the thickness e 2.
The covering member 6 extends substantially in the continuation of the window pane 2, that is to say the outer face 60 of the covering member 6 is located in the continuation of the outer face 20 of the window pane 2 and the lateral ribs 64 and 64' do not extend further inwards than the inner face 22 of the window pane; therefore, the overall thickness of the covering member is small.
The clip 7 is particularly compact: the overall thickness e7 of the clip 7 is between 1.8 and 2.5 times the thickness e2 of the pane 2, or even between 1.9 and 2.2 times the thickness e2 of the pane 2; here, the thickness e7 is twice the thickness e 2.
