Description

Method for making a customized crown, cap and cap obtained thereby
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a method for making a customized crown cap.
The invention also relates to the production of a closure cap of the crown type for containers, in particular for bottles.
The invention also relates to the manufacture of a crown cap using the above-described capsule and which is to be customizable.
Background
The term "crown" generally defines a closure cap, usually made of metal, shaped in the form of a shell/capsule having a circular shape, the periphery of which extends a series of uniformly distributed teeth.
In fact, the shell has an upper surface with an extension greater than the extension from which the crown extends, in such a way as to define an internal space designed to receive the neck of the container to be capped.
The upper surface is flat or slightly convex towards the outside.
The pattern, colour and/or distinctive marking of the product contained in the coupled bottle is applied on the outer surface of the upper surface (at least on this portion).
A sealing gasket is positioned inside the housing at an inner surface of the upper surface.
The current methods for making caps are as follows:
the sheet of material of considerable size constituting the lid (steel) is generally fed in a straight line for painting several colours.
Printing on the sheet in the painting line a number of patterns, arranged in a matrix, which generally cover the upper surface of the above-mentioned face of the sheet and the part of the ring designed as a tooth.
-feeding the sheet into a punch which punches the sheet with a single impact, thereby forming a shell, separating it from the sheet and simultaneously forming the crowns of the teeth;
finally, the dose is extruded, which is directly stamped on the shell, completing the final appearance of the crown in order to sell the pre-capping cap.
This method is certainly advantageous when producing batches of a considerable number of lids, i.e. tens or hundreds of thousands. This is because machines designed for painting operate according to the logic of rotating print cylinders and are therefore designed for mass production. The print change requires a period of time to change the drum along with the color change during the passage from one batch to the next, which is particularly tedious.
Thus, the prior art has the disadvantage that it is difficult to change rapidly between different batches and is not economical in dealing with the problem.
Disclosure of Invention
It is an object of the present invention to provide a method of making a customized crown that overcomes the above-mentioned disadvantages of the prior art.
More specifically, the object of the present invention is to provide a method for making caps suitable for producing personalized products even in batches with small values.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a method of making a crown cap that does not require complex and expensive tools designed for customized printing and therefore is easily adaptable to the most varied requirements.
It is a further object of the present invention to make a bottle cap of the construction crown which does not have the personalization required by the consumers of the crown.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a crown cap that is customizable in a step subsequent to that of producing a shell defining the crown.
These objects are fully achieved by the method which forms the object of the present invention and as characterized in the appended claims.

Detailed Description
Referring to fig. 1-9, a method of making a customized crown cap according to the present invention includes the steps of:
making a shell 1 (also defined in general terms of a capsule) defining the body of the crown, having a circular upper surface 2, the upper surface 2 being configured with a recessed portion 3, the recessed portion 3 being positioned and comprised inside the perimeter of the upper surface 2;
making a personalized element 10 having dimensions corresponding to the recessed portion 3, which has at its upper surface 11 identification means 12 (identification and/or decorative element);
inserting the personalized element 10 inside the recessed portion 3 and making a relative association by means of the locking means 20.
In more detail, the concave portion 3 of the shell 1 defines, together with the upper surface 2, a connection cone 4, the connection cone 4 defining an angle α sufficient to prevent triggering of a failure point on the same surface of the upper surface 2 of the same shell 1.
Considering now the layout of fig. 1, it can be seen how the shells or capsules 1 are made by stamping from the sheet 6 in the first station S0. The sheet material 6 is typically made of steel and, as in the prior art, several rows of shells may be stamped by a single impact of a stamping press.
In a next station S1, each shell 1 is introduced and arranged between a die P and a punch M having respective shapes designed to make the above-defined concave portion 3.
The recessed portion 3 is preferably made in a circular shape having the base of a cone of diameter 3d and centered with respect to the upper surface 2.
The recessed portion 3 is substantially continuous, i.e. it extends from the axis of symmetry of the capsule 1 to a predetermined radial height.
In a next station S2, a sealing gasket (not shown) is applied inside the casing 1, defining at the lower surface 7 the seal of the crown formed by the respective container/bottle.
It should be noted that the seal may be of any type and/or shape.
In a different station S3, the personalized element 30 is made in the form of a small disc with a diameter 3 d.
These small discs 30 have a circular shape.
These small discs 30 can be obtained from a sheet 31 or strip using a circular punch.
These small discs 30 may have a colour, text or logo at their surface, i.e. the upper surface, so as to define a personalised element.
Preferably, the small disc is preferably obtained from a plastic material (such as, but not necessarily, PVC or the like).
More preferably, the small disc is formed of a thermoplastic material.
Personalization will take place upstream of station S3 using printing equipment for (of known type and therefore not described).
The subsequent station S4 will perform the attachment of the single small disc 30 to the shell 1 inside the concave portion 3.
The final locking between the customization element 30 and the capsule/housing 1 will be performed by the locking means 20, which locking means 20 will in the simplest form consist of an adhesive.
Thus, at the output of station S4 there will be a customized T-crown, wherein the personalization is performed entirely by the auxiliary element (small disc 30) without forming an integral part of casing 1.
The method according to the invention teaches:
-producing a casing 1 (or capsule) made of metal material, without identification elements;
making an identification element in the form of a small disc 30 made of a separate sheet or strip;
relative coupling and locking between the shell 1 and the small disc 30.
In this way, it is possible to eliminate expensive printing stations or painting machines, but above all to make "anonymous" caps 1, which can be personalised after their production (even directly at the packaging plant).
It should also be noted that this method allows the production of caps in this way directly by the manufacturer of the caps, as well as the production of caps at different places and at different times: for example, the cap may be made by the manufacturer and the personalized element may not be made by the manufacturer, but the coupling of the personalized element to the cap may be made by the end user (used in the factory for packaging the liquid in the bottle).
The considerable advantage is understandable due to the fact that the capsule manufacturer will be solely responsible for its production in an anonymous manner, as described above, and therefore not dependent on the number of individual batches.
In this way, it is advantageously possible to meet the most diverse requirements of the end consumer, to pass quickly from one batch to the next, and to be able to easily process a limited range of uniform batches.
For producing the personalized element, a printing technique different from the usual one may be used, such as for example digital printing.
According to another aspect of the method, the personalized element 10 has a circular shape.
According to another aspect, the method comprises the steps of:
-preparing a sheet of plastic material having a mainly planar extension;
-printing a plurality of identification elements and/or decorations on a sheet;
cutting the sheet into a plurality of portions at least at a portion of the identification element and/or the decoration, so as to make a corresponding plurality of personalized elements 10 (i.e. small discs 30).
According to another aspect, the sheet of plastic material is a sheet of thermoplastic material.
According to another aspect, the step of inserting the personalized element 10 inside the recessed portion 3 comprises a step of gluing the personalized element 10 inside the recessed portion 3.
According to another aspect, the step of making the casing 1 comprises the steps of:
-a) making a capsule equipped with a plurality of corrugations (46) defining the teeth of the crown;
-b) making a concave portion (3) on the circular upper surface (2) of the capsule;
according to another aspect, the step of making the capsule equipped with a plurality of corrugations 46 defining the teeth of the crown is carried out, in time, before the step of making the concave portions 3 on the circular upper surface 2 of the capsule.
According to another aspect, making the recessed portion 3 on the circular upper surface 2 of the capsule 1 comprises the step of placing the capsule in contact with the die P and subjecting it to the pressing action of the punch M.
According to another aspect, the punch M has an axisymmetric shape and has a projecting edge 41 on the radially outer portion 40.
According to another aspect, the protruding edge 41 of the punch M is connected to the central face 42 by an inclined surface 43.
The inclined surface 43 is inclined at an angle (α) of between 15 ° and 50 ° (α being more preferably between 20 ° and 40 °) with respect to the surface 44 of the central face 42.
According to another aspect, the protruding edge 41 of the punch M is connected to the central face 42 by an inclined surface 43.
The inclined surface 43 is inclined at an angle alpha of between 20 deg. and 40 deg. with respect to the surface 44 of the central face 42.
According to another aspect, the die P has a circumferential cavity 45 on a radially external portion.
According to another aspect, a closure cap is defined, comprising a casing 1 defining a crown body, provided with a plurality of corrugations 46 defining the teeth of the crown.
The shell 1 has a circular upper surface 2 configured with a recessed portion 3, the recessed portion 3 being positioned and comprised inside the perimeter of the upper surface 2, the recessed portion 3 being a continuation of the radially inner portion of the axis of symmetry of the shell.
The recessed portion 3 comprises a first central surface 46, the first central surface 46 terminating at a radially outer edge in a surface 47 inclined with respect to the first central surface 46.
The inclined surface 47 is inclined at an angle α of between 15 ° and 50 ° with respect to the first central surface 46 (α is more preferably between 20 ° and 40 °).
The invention also defines a closure cap comprising a closure cap of the type described above and a personalisation element 10 coupled to the casing 1 and positioned inside the recessed portion 3.
