背景技术
本发明涉及包含具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜的多层包装膜,以产生高氧气、湿气和/或化学品阻隔材料。这些膜可用于包装对氧气和/或湿气敏感的食品和非食品产品,诸如药品和医疗器械。

人们对开发防止各种气体、湿气和/或化学品进入的高阻隔材料有着极大的兴趣,这些高阻隔材料可用于柔性食品和药品包装以及消费电子产品或工业电子产品。这些应用需要高氧气阻隔包装材料。用于柔性包装的传统氧气阻隔材料是使用几微米厚的片材形式的铝。当铝箔以大于25.4微米的厚度使用时,铝箔在柔性包装中提供气体和氧气阻隔。然而,当以较小的厚度使用时,它易于形成针孔和其他应力引起的断裂,诸如挠裂。将箔掺入多层结构中需要多个层压步骤;与将工艺简化为单个步骤的共挤出相比,这是昂贵的。
另一种改善包装材料阻隔性能的熟知方法是将乙烯乙烯醇共聚物(EVOH)掺入多层膜结构中。据报道,在23℃和0%相对湿度下,27mol%乙烯EVOH的氧气渗透率为约0.006立方厘米*密耳/100平方英寸/24小时。然而,关于将EVOH用作氧气阻隔材料的最重要问题是其湿气敏感性。EVOH是亲水的,当直接暴露于潮湿条件下时吸收大量的湿气,从而导致其氧气渗透率增加。在通过援引整体并入本文的T.Iwanami和Y.Hirai的文章“EthyleneVinyl Alcohol Resins for Gas-Barrier Material”[用于气体阻隔材料的乙烯乙烯醇树脂]中讨论了在估计EVOH的气体阻隔性能时EVOH对湿度的依赖性。该文章讨论了随着湿度的增加,EVOH的氧气阻隔性能下降。
改善包装膜的氧气阻隔性能的另一种方法是将固体无机填料掺入热塑性聚合物基质中。该方法包括使用常规聚合物加工方法将两种组分共混以将无机填料包封到热塑性聚合物中并将共混物挤出成片材或膜。然而,当将一些无机填料诸如碳酸钙、滑石、玻璃和粘土掺入聚合物基质中时,它会导致聚合物-填料混杂物的难以处理的粘度,特别是在填料含量大于30体积%时,从而使得极难将它们熔融加工成有用的产品。
发明内容
提供了包含具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜的多层包装膜,这些多层包装膜表现出优异的阻隔性能和柔韧性。具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜可以是多层包装膜本身,或者可以是较大包装膜结构的子单元。这些具有交替的玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜通过以下方式制备:连续同时挤出玻璃和塑料,以形成至少一个单独的玻璃层和至少一个单独的塑料层的组合多层流动料流。在一些实施例中,该共挤出膜包含至少两层玻璃和至少一层塑料。在其他实施例中,该共挤出膜包含至少十层玻璃和至少十层塑料。玻璃和塑料的共挤出与层倍增进料块相结合而进行。根据特定包装应用的要求,具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜可以按需要具有任意数量的玻璃层和任意数量的塑料层。交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的总数可以从3到3000或更大的值变化。
在一些实施例中,具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜可以与热密封材料的分立外层组合。热密封层可包括但不限于聚烯烃诸如聚乙烯、乙烯α-烯烃共聚物、聚丙烯共聚物、乙烯乙酸乙烯酯共聚物、离聚物及其共混物。在其他实施例中,具有交替的玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜可以与防机械损伤(abuse)材料的分立外层组合。防机械损伤层可包括但不限于聚酰胺、取向聚酰胺和芳族聚酯(诸如聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯、取向聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯)、聚丙烯和取向聚丙烯。在其他实施例中,具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜可以与热密封层和防机械损伤层两者组合。在一些实施例中,具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜可包括相同材料的两个外层。例如,热密封材料的两个分立外层可以挤出涂布到具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜上。
本文提供了包含具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜的多层包装膜,这些多层包装膜与常规包装材料相比具有优异的气体和水阻隔特性。在一些实施例中,这些多层包装膜在23℃和0%相对湿度下的氧气透过率在从0至1cm3/m2/24h的范围内。在一些实施例中,这些多层包装膜在38℃和90%相对湿度下的水蒸气透过率在从0至1g/m2/24h的范围内。在此类实施例中,这些多层包装膜在38℃和90%相对湿度下的水蒸气透过率在从0至0.08g/m2/24h的范围内。在其他实施例中,这些多层包装膜可具有出色的化学阻隔性能。通过借助渗透测量设备进行的方法来测定氧气和水蒸气的渗透。这里在23℃和0%相对湿度下测定氧气渗透,并在38℃和90%相对湿度下测定水蒸气渗透。本领域技术人员将认识到氧气透过率在从0至1cm3/m2/24h范围内和/或水蒸气透过率在从0至1g/m2/24h范围内的膜表示无缺陷的高阻隔材料。
本文还提供了包含具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜的多层包装膜,该多层包装膜具有高度的柔韧性。柔韧性由最小弯曲半径决定。本文使用的“最小弯曲半径”是指允许膜弯曲而不破裂、断裂或引起任何形式的可能影响膜阻隔性能的缺陷的最小允许半径。本领域技术人员将认识到,最小弯曲半径越小,材料柔韧性越大(随着曲率半径减小,曲率增加)。在一些实施例中,包含交替的玻璃层和塑料层的多层包装膜的最小弯曲半径小于10mm。因此,包含具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜的多层包装膜提供了非常有用的柔韧度。
具有交替的玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜的玻璃的玻璃化转变温度小于500℃,例如小于500℃、400℃、350℃、300℃、250℃或200℃。在一些实施例中,该玻璃的玻璃化转变温度Tg可小于400℃,例如小于400℃、350℃、300℃、250℃、200℃或150℃。在一些实施例中,该玻璃是氟磷酸锡玻璃(有时称为“SnF-玻璃”)。此类玻璃可以由诸如但不限于BaF2、SnF2、ZnF2、P2O5、Sn(PO4)2、SnO、Sn2P2O7、SnCl2、NH4H2PO4、NH4PF6、Sn2P2O7的无机材料的分批烧结而制成,并且可以在不超过600℃(典型地在400℃至500℃范围内)的温度下熔化,以提供具有高质量和相对高化学耐久性的均质玻璃。
包含具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜的多层包装膜具有一定的玻璃组合物,该玻璃组合物在元素的基础上包含摩尔百分比在从12.0至17.1范围内的锡、摩尔百分比在从11.2至24.3范围内的氟、摩尔百分比在从12.1至19.6范围内的磷以及摩尔百分比在从43.3至61.1范围内的氧。在一些实施例中,该玻璃在元素的基础上包含摩尔百分比在从15.4至17.1范围内的锡、摩尔百分比在从19.6至24.3范围内的氟、摩尔百分比在从14.2至16.6范围内的磷以及摩尔百分比在从43.3至56范围内的氧。多层包装膜的玻璃组合物的元素组分的定性和定量测定可以通过能量色散x射线(EDX)光谱分析来确定。无机组合物的EDX光谱分析技术是熟知的,并且可以由本领域的技术人员容易地执行而无需过度实验。
任何塑料均可用于交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层。在一些实施例中,塑料可以定义为“热塑性塑料”。热塑性塑料在本文中称为在暴露于热时软化并在冷却至室温时恢复其初始状态的任何聚合物或聚合物混合物。在一些实施例中,该塑料可包括结晶或半结晶热塑性塑料、无定形热塑性塑料及其共混物,包括但不限于脂族和芳族聚酰胺、聚醚、聚酰亚胺、离聚物、脂族和芳族聚酯如聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯、二醇改性的聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯、聚间苯二甲酸乙二醇酯和聚萘二甲酸乙二醇酯;环烯烃共聚物、聚烯烃均聚物和共聚物如聚乙烯、高密度聚乙烯、马来酸酐改性的聚乙烯、乙烯乙烯醇共聚物、乙烯乙酸乙烯酯共聚物、乙烯丙烯酸、乙烯甲基丙烯酸、乙烯丙烯酸烷基酯和聚丙烯、聚酰胺酰亚胺、聚碳酸酯、聚醚醚酮、聚醚酰亚胺、聚醚砜、聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯、聚甲醛、聚苯硫醚、聚苯乙烯(包括高抗冲聚苯乙烯)、未增塑聚氯乙烯、热塑性聚氨酯及其共混物。
芳族聚酰胺的实例包括但不限于尼龙4,I、尼龙6,I、尼龙6,6/6I共聚物、尼龙6,6/6T共聚物、尼龙MXD6(聚己二酰间苯二甲胺)、聚己二酰对苯二甲胺、尼龙6I/6T共聚物、尼龙6T/6I共聚物、尼龙MXDI、尼龙6/MXDT/I共聚物、尼龙6T(聚对苯二甲酰己二胺)、尼龙12T(聚对苯二甲酰癸二胺)、尼龙66T、尼龙6-3-T(聚(三甲基六亚甲基对苯二甲酰胺))。
市售环烯烃共聚物的实例包括但不限于由日本东京的宝理塑料株式会社(Polyplastics(Celanese-Ticona),Tokyo,Japan)提供的系列树脂。
在一些实施例中,该塑料包括芳族或烷基取代的芳族聚酯,即,苯二甲酸的各种异构体,诸如对酞酸(或对苯二甲酸)、间苯二甲酸和萘二甲酸。烷基取代的芳族酸的具体实例包括二甲基苯二甲酸的各种异构体,诸如二甲基间苯二甲酸、二甲基邻苯二甲酸、二甲基对苯二甲酸;二乙基苯二甲酸的各种异构体,诸如二乙基间苯二甲酸、二乙基邻苯二甲酸;二甲基萘二甲酸的各种异构体,诸如2,6-二甲基萘二甲酸和2,5-二甲基萘二甲酸;以及二乙基萘二甲酸的各种异构体。在一些实施例中,芳族聚酯包括聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯共聚物、二醇改性的聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯共聚物及其混合物。二醇改性的聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯共聚物的进一步的实例包括但不限于由美国加利福尼亚州尔湾的SK化学美国公司(SKChemicals America(Irvine,CA,USA))以商标PETG以及由美国田纳西州金斯波特的伊士曼化学公司(Eastman Chemical Company,Inc.(Kingsport,TN,USA))以商标EastarTM共聚酯6763销售的那些。
在一些实施例中,在交替的单独层的共挤出膜中使用的玻璃和塑料均表现出相似的粘度-剪切速率曲线。例如,基于如图1中所示的曲线图所示的类似粘度-剪切速率曲线,玻璃如摩尔组成为20%SnO+50%SnF2+30%P2O5的氟磷酸锡玻璃“SnF玻璃”以及比重为1.27g/cm3、玻璃化转变温度Tg为80℃、维卡软化温度为85℃的二醇改性聚对苯二甲酸乙二醇酯共聚物PETG SK2008的塑料可以容易地共挤出。在一些实施例中,玻璃和塑料在110℃至260℃范围内的温度和1s-1至1000s-1的剪切速率下的粘度比在1:15至15:1的范围内。
在一些其他实施例中,在交替的单独层的共挤出膜中使用的玻璃和塑料均可以表现出不同的粘度-剪切速率曲线。
通过连续挤出方法制造具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜,该方法包括以下步骤:将塑料或共混物引入第一挤出机中,将玻璃引入第二挤出机,在挤出机中将材料加热至所需的温度并将每种材料的一个或多个熔体料流聚集在一起,以产生至少一个单独的玻璃层和至少一个单独的塑料层的组合多层流动料流。组合的多层流动料流形成大致平坦的形状,并置成堆叠的层状形态。一旦多层流动料流离开模头,就将其冷却并成形。如本文所用,术语“共挤出的”或“共挤出”是指通过单个模头连续且同时挤出两种或更多种材料的过程,该模头具有一个或多个孔,这些孔被布置成使得挤出物在冷却(即,骤冷)之前合并且焊接在一起形成固结结构。如本文所用,术语挤出机是指能够将材料加热至其软化和/或熔融温度以产生软化和/或熔融材料的输出流动料流的任何设备,该输出流动料流在重力或机械力作用下从该设备的出口孔排出。合适的挤出机可包括但不限于单螺杆挤出机,诸如光滑机筒和开槽或销钉机筒单螺杆挤出机;双螺杆挤出机,诸如同向旋转和反向旋转双螺杆挤出机;以及多螺杆挤出机,包括旋转中心轴和静中心轴多螺杆挤出机。
在一些实施例中,具有交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜通过以下方法制造:在挤出过程中机械操纵塑料和玻璃流动料流以使每种材料的总层数倍增,以产生交替的单独玻璃层和塑料层的堆叠平坦构造。使用进料块将塑料和玻璃的多个流动料流组合成组合多层流动料流。例如,在美国专利No.3,759,647、No.4,426,344和美国专利申请公开No.2013/0276895中描述了此类进料块,这些专利的内容通过援引整体并入本文。通常,这些进料块被配置成接收多个料流,这些流动料流彼此堆叠以形成堆叠的组合多层结构,然后进入挤出模头或其他加工设备。

实例

1.一种多层包装膜,该多层包装膜包含:
包含交替的玻璃层和塑料层的共挤出膜,
其中玻璃层的数量至少为2并且塑料层的数量至少为1,
其中该多层包装膜的总厚度在从10μm至250μm的范围内,
其中该多层包装膜的最小弯曲半径小于10mm,并且
其中该玻璃在元素的基础上包含摩尔百分比在从12.0至17.1范围内的锡、摩尔百分比在从11.2至24.3范围内的氟、摩尔百分比在从12.1至19.6范围内的磷以及摩尔百分比在从43.3至61.1范围内的氧。
