Description

Laundry treatment device and method for operating a laundry treatment device
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a laundry treatment appliance, such as a washing machine or dryer, and to a method for operating such a laundry treatment appliance.
Background
It is known and established with appropriate standards that the components of an electric household appliance accessible by the user must have an electrical insulation with respect to the components conducting the voltage. Known measures for such contact protection are electrical basic insulation and protective grounding.
Fig. 1 schematically shows the structure of a conventional laundry treatment apparatus with contact protection. The laundry treatment apparatus is provided with: a laundry drum 10 for accommodating laundry to be treated; a door 12 for closing an entrance to the laundry drum; a belt drive 14 for rotating the laundry drum; an electric motor 18 supplied by the electric network 24 for driving the drive; a motor control 22 supplied by the power grid for operating the electric motor; and a switch 26 for selectively disconnecting the electric motor and motor control from the electrical grid. Provided as protective measures are usually an insulation 20 for electrically insulating the motor winding of the electric motor 18 from the motor housing and the drive 14, a protective earth 19 of the motor housing and a protective earth 11 of the laundry drum 10. Instead of two protective grounds, a double basic insulation 16 of the drive 14 can alternatively also be provided for electrically insulating the belt from the belt disks on the motor side and on the drum side.
Disclosure of Invention
The object of the present invention is to provide an improved laundry treatment appliance and an improved method for operating a laundry treatment device, each of which has a simple contact protection for the laundry drum.
This object is achieved by the teaching according to the invention.
According to a first aspect of the invention, a laundry treatment apparatus has: a laundry drum for accommodating laundry to be treated; a door for closing an inlet to the laundry drum; a driving device for rotating the washing drum; an electric motor supplied by the power grid for driving the drive; a switch for selectively disconnecting the electric motor from the electrical grid; a door detector for detecting a closed state and/or a locked state of the door; and a control device connected with the door detector and the switch and configured to open or close the switch according to a closed state or a locked state of the door detected by the door detector.
According to a second aspect of the invention, a laundry treatment apparatus has: a laundry drum for accommodating laundry to be treated; a door for closing an inlet to the laundry drum; a driving device for rotating the washing drum; an electric motor supplied by the power grid for driving the drive; a switch for selectively disconnecting the electric motor and the motor control device from the electrical grid; a locking mechanism for locking the door; and a control device connected with the locking mechanism and the switch and configured to operate the locking mechanism according to a switch state of the switch.
In the laundry treatment appliance according to the invention, the contact protection of the laundry drum is achieved by a switch in the electrical connection between the electrical network and the electric motor, wherein the switching state of the switch depends on the closing state and/or the locking state of the door, or the actuation of the locking mechanism of the door depends on the switching state of the switch. According to a first aspect, if the door is unlocked or even opened so that a user can access the laundry drum, the electric motor is disconnected from the power grid so that the laundry drum can no longer be connected to the power grid. According to a second aspect, the door can only be unlocked by the locking mechanism after the switch is opened and thus the electric motor is disconnected from the power grid. On the other hand, the electric motor is only supplied with voltage from the mains when the laundry drum cannot be touched by the user, since the door is closed or even locked. By means of the switch in the electrical connection between the electrical network and the electric motor, a protective grounding of the motor housing and the laundry drum can be dispensed with, which simplifies the construction of the laundry treatment appliance and reduces its manufacturing costs, but nevertheless enables compliance with the required EMC limit values.
The laundry treatment apparatus is, for example, a washing machine, a dryer or a combined washer-dryer.
The drive is preferably a belt drive. The belt drive comprises, for example, a belt which is connected to the motor shaft of the electric motor via a motor-side belt pulley and to the laundry drum or a shaft of the laundry drum via a drum-side belt pulley.
Alternatively, the drive is a direct drive. The direct drive is arranged on the shaft of the washing drum.
A switch is any switching device capable of breaking an electrical connection. In the case of a multipolar electrical connection, the switch is preferably capable of breaking the electrical connection in all poles. The switch has, for example, a relay. Preferably, a monostable relay is used, which is normally open and breaks the electrical connection.
According to a first aspect of the invention, the door detector detects a closed state and/or a locked state of the door. That is, the door detector detects a closed state (open or closed) of the door, a locked state (locked or unlocked) of the door, or both of such a closed state and such a locked state of the door. In general, the detection of the closed state is sufficient for contact protection, and for a higher security level, the locked state of the door may alternatively or additionally be detected.
In one embodiment of the invention, the laundry treatment appliance also has a motor control for actuating the electric motor. The switch is then preferably arranged in the electrical connection between the electrical network and the motor control device or between the motor control device and the electric motor.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the electric motor has a winding, which is electrically insulated from the motor housing and the drive of the electric motor by means of an insulation. By this insulation of the motor winding, the contact protection can be further improved, since in the case of a laundry drum which is accessible due to an open door, there is a double insulation by the basic insulation of the open switch and the electric motor.
In a further embodiment of the invention, the electric motor and/or the laundry drum can optionally be additionally equipped with a protective earth. The security level of the contact protection can thereby be further increased. Even in the case of accessible drums, the method for the grid disconnection is then superfluous.
The invention also relates to a method for operating a laundry treatment system.
According to a first aspect of the invention, in a method for operating a laundry treatment appliance, the laundry treatment appliance has: a laundry drum for accommodating laundry to be treated; a door for closing an inlet to the laundry drum; a driving device for rotating the washing drum; and an electric motor supplied by the electric grid for driving the driving device, the electric motor being electrically disconnected from the electric grid if the closed state and/or the locked state of the door is detected and when the detected closed state or the locked state of the door signals an unlocking or opening of the door.
According to a second aspect of the invention, in a method for operating a laundry treatment appliance, the laundry treatment appliance has: a laundry drum for accommodating laundry to be treated; a lockable door for closing an access to the laundry drum; a driving device for rotating the washing drum; and an electric motor supplied by the electric grid for driving the drive means, the electric motor being electrically disconnected from the electric grid before the door is unlocked.
With these methods, the same advantages as with the above-described laundry treating apparatus of the present invention can be obtained. With regard to advantages, concepts and preferred embodiments, reference is therefore made to the above-described embodiments in connection with laundry treatment appliances.
According to the invention, the electrical connection of the electric motor to the electrical network is disconnected when the detected closed or locked state of the door signals an unlocking or opening of the door, or the door is unlocked only after the electrical connection of the electric motor to the electrical network is disconnected. In the case of a multipolar electrical connection, the disconnection is preferably carried out all the way. Preferably, the electrical connection of the electric motor to the electrical network is established only if the detected closing or locking state of the door signals a closing or locking state of the door.
Drawings
The above-mentioned and further features and advantages of the invention will be better understood from the following description of a preferred, non-limiting embodiment with the aid of the accompanying drawings. Wherein the main schematic shows:
fig. 1 shows the structure of a conventional laundry treatment apparatus with contact protection; and is
Fig. 2 shows the structure of a laundry treatment apparatus according to the invention with contact protection.
Detailed Description
In fig. 2, identical or corresponding components of the laundry treatment appliance are designated by the same reference numerals as in fig. 1.
A laundry treatment apparatus, such as a washing machine or dryer, has: a laundry drum 10 for receiving laundry to be treated (i.e., to be cleaned or to be dried); and a door 12 for closing an entrance to the laundry drum through which a user enters the laundry drum 10 and can access the laundry drum.
The laundry drum 10 is rotated by a belt drive 14, which is driven by an electric motor 18. The belt drive has, for example, a belt which is connected on the one hand via a motor-side belt pulley to the motor shaft of the electric motor 18 and on the other hand via a drum-side belt pulley to the laundry drum 10 or to the shaft of the laundry drum. In the laundry treatment appliance according to the invention, the belt can be electrically conductive, for example, and does not necessarily have to be electrically insulated with respect to the belt disk.
The electric motor 18 typically includes a plurality of motor windings. These motor windings are electrically insulated from the (usually electrically conductive) motor housing of the electric motor 18 and the drive device 14 by means of an insulation 20.
Although not shown, a protective grounding can optionally also be provided for the laundry drum 10 and/or the motor housing, in order to make the contact insulation of the laundry drum 10 even safer for the user. However, in the laundry treatment appliance according to the invention, EMC limit values can be adhered to even without such a protective grounding.
The electric motor 18 is operated by a motor control 22, which is supplied with voltage from an electrical network 24 (in this embodiment, bipolar). In this way, the motor windings of the electric motor 18 are also supplied by the grid 24.
A switch 26 is provided in the electrical connection between the electrical network 24 and the motor control device 22, which switch can optionally close or open the connection in all poles. The switch 26 has, for example, one or more relays, preferably normally open monostable relays, so that this electrical connection between the grid 24 and the motor control device 22 is normally open. Alternatively, the switch 26 can also be provided in the electrical connection between the motor control device 22 and the electric motor 18.
The laundry treating apparatus further includes a locking mechanism having a door detector. The locking mechanism 28 is configured to lock the door 12 so that the door cannot be opened by a user. The door detector is configured to detect a closed state (open or closed) of the door 12 or a locked state (locked or unlocked) of the door 12.
The locking mechanism with the door detector is connected (wirelessly or wired) to the control device 30. The control device 30 is also connected to the switch 26 and is supplied with electrical energy from the electrical network 24 independently of the switching state of the switch 26.
The control device 30 is designed on the one hand to actuate the locking mechanism 28 and evaluate the measurement signal of the door detector and on the other hand to actuate the switch 26.
In a first embodiment variant, depending on the detected closed or locked state of the door 12, the switch 26 is opened or closed by the control device 30 in order to optionally open or establish an electrical connection of the motor control device 22 and thus of the electric motor 18 to the electrical network 24.
In particular, the control device 30 operates the switch 26 in the following manner.
When the closed or locked state of the door 12, which is detected by the door detector, signals the unlocking or opening of the door 12, the switch 26 is opened in full polarity and the electrical connection of the motor control 22 and the electric motor 18 to the electrical network 24 is thereby disconnected. That is, as soon as the door 12 is opened by the user or preferably the door 12 has been unlocked by the appliance control, the motor control 22 and the electric motor 18 are switched off and a double insulation of the laundry drum 10 is established (by the insulation 20 of the motor winding of the electric motor 18 and the open switch 26) to ensure contact protection for the user.
On the other hand, the switch 26 is only closed and the electrical connection of the electric motor 18 to the electrical network 24 is therefore only established if the closed or locked state of the door 12 detected by the door detector signals a closed or locked state of the door 12. That is, the electric motor 18 is supplied with electrical energy from the electrical grid 24 only when the door 12 is closed or preferably only when the door 12 is locked and therefore the laundry drum 10 can no longer be touched by the user. Even in this operating state, there is still a simple insulation of the laundry drum 10 (by the insulation 20 of the motor winding of the electric motor 18).
In the second embodiment variant, the locking mechanism 28 of the door 12 is operated depending on the opening and closing state of the switch 26. In particular, the control device 30 operates the switch 26 and the locking mechanism 28 in the following manner and manner.
Before the control device 30 operates the locking mechanism 28 to unlock the door 12, the control device 30 opens the switch 26 in all poles to electrically disconnect the motor control device 22 and the electric motor 18 from the electrical grid 24. This means that the user can only open the door 12 after the motor control 22 and the electric motor 18 have been switched off, and thus a double insulation of the laundry drum 10 (by the insulation 20 of the motor winding of the electric motor 18 and the switch 26 switched on) is established to ensure contact protection for the user.
On the other hand, the switch 26 is only closed and therefore the electrical connection of the electric motor 18 to the electrical network 24 is only established after the locking mechanism 28 has locked the door 12 and the closed or locked state of the door 12 detected by the door detector signals the closed or locked state of the door 12. This means that the electric motor 18 is supplied with electrical energy from the electrical grid 24 only when the door 12 is locked and therefore the laundry drum 10 is no longer accessible to the user. Even in this operating state, there is still a simple insulation of the laundry drum 10 (by the insulation 20 of the motor winding of the electric motor 18).
