Description

Sliding rail installation accessory assembly for rack
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a rail mounting assembly, and more particularly to a rail mounting assembly for a rack.
Background
Generally, a rack system (cabinet system) usually includes several columns, and each column has a plurality of mounting holes, such as round holes or square holes. The distance between the machine columns and the mounting holes of each machine column are also commonly in a so-called standard configuration. Taking the standard specification of EIA-310 of the Electronic industry association (Electronic industries association) as an example, EIA-310 specifies that the machine columns on the left and right sides of the rack (cabinet) include a width of 19 inches (19inch) (482.6mm) between each other, and the width can accommodate a chassis (or Electronic equipment, information equipment); and EIA-310 also specifies the mounting holes for each mast, in units of three holes, each unit being 1.750 inches (1.750inch) (44.45mm), and each of the three holes also being spaced from each other by a distance, for example 0.625 inches (0.625inch) (15.90 mm).
Referring to fig. 1, it is schematically shown that the left and right columns 12a,12b of the rack (or cabinet) 10 specified by the EIA-310 have a width W therebetween, and the width W is adapted to be mounted on a cabinet 14. The left and right sides of the housing 14 are typically mounted to the left and right posts 12a,12b of the frame 10 by a pair of rail assemblies 16a,16 b.
In recent years, with the rapid development of the information industry, the volume (e.g. width) of some cases is also moving to large scale (large scale) for accommodating more electronic devices or related parts. Therefore, in order to deal with these large-sized cabinets, it is also one of the issues discussed in the industry to develop a rack that is wider than the width (e.g., 19 inches) between the left and right posts of the rack (or cabinet) specified by EIA-310.
For example, U.S. patent publication No. US 9,131,769B 2 discloses an Open bridge rack, wherein the background of the patent discloses an Open computer solution (OCP) providing an Open rack standard that includes specification of equipment racks, referred to as Open racks. Wherein the open computer solution provides a width opening of about 21 inches (21inch) (538mm) for installing information technology equipment (IT equipment) with a larger width. Further, the open computer solution is incompatible with each other because it is different from the equipment racks that are specified by both EIAs.
Further, it is known that one of the advantages of the open bridge rack disclosed in this patent is that a single equipment rack can bridge the gap (gap) between the 19-inch rack design of the EIA and the open rack design of the open computer solution (OCP) to provide the ability to switch from one standard to another. Which essentially provides a pair of front mounting posts and a pair of rear mounting posts. Each mounting post, for example, the front mounting post, has a first plane, a second plane, a third plane, and a fourth plane. The first plane is provided with a plurality of first equipment mounting holes which can be used as the standard specification of EIA; on the other hand, the third plane and the fourth plane have a second number of device mounting holes, which can be used as a standard specification of an open computer solution (OCP).
Obviously, how to adapt one rack standard to another rack standard through a conversion or bridging mechanism has become one of the issues worth discussing in the industry.

Detailed Description
Fig. 2 shows a rack system including a rack 20, a first accessory mechanism 22, and a second accessory mechanism 24. Preferably, a first slide assembly 26, a second slide assembly (not shown in fig. 2 due to the perspective view) and a chassis 30 are also included. Wherein the rack 20 is, for example, an open rack (OCP) design, which allows a user to access the equipment in the rack from the front side.
As shown in fig. 3 and 4, the first side S1 of the housing 20 has a first plurality of mounting features 32 and a second plurality of mounting features 34, and preferably also includes a third plurality of mounting features 36. The mounting features 32, 34, and 36 may each be located on at least one column (or at least one wall) of the rack 20. In this embodiment, the first plurality of mounting features 32 are located on a first column, and the second plurality of mounting features 34 and the third plurality of mounting features 36 are located on a second column, but the implementation is not limited thereto.
The first accessory mechanism 22 is removably mounted to the first side S1 of the chassis 20. Specifically, the first accessory mechanism 22 includes a first base 38 and a second base 40, and preferably further includes a support body 42 extending between the first base 38 and the second base 40. The first base 38 and the second base 40 can be regarded as a slide rail mounting assembly.
The first base 38 includes a first side plate 44 and a first end plate 46 substantially perpendicularly connected to the first side plate 44. The first side plate 44 is detachably mounted to the first side S1 of the rack 20 at a first position. In this embodiment, the first plurality of mounting features 32 includes, for example, a first hole 47a, a second hole 47b and a third hole 47c, and the holes 47a, 47b and 47c have hole walls 49 around the holes, but the implementation is not limited thereto. Preferably, the slide rail mounting assembly further comprises a fastener 48 mounted to the first base 38, and the first side plate 44 of the first base 38 can be detachably mounted to the first hole 47a and the second hole 47b through the fastener 48. For example, the fastener 48 includes an elastic portion 50, a first engaging portion 52a and a second engaging portion 52 b. Each of the latch portions 52a, 52b is connected to the elastic portion 50. The elastic portion 50 provides an elastic force, and each of the latching portions 52a and 52b is respectively latched to the first side S1 of the rack 20 in response to the elastic force of the elastic portion 50, for example, the first latching portion 52a and the second latching portion 52b can respectively penetrate through the first hole 47a and the second hole 47b and be latched to the corresponding hole wall 49 (this portion can be referred to as fig. 5); preferably, the fastener 48 further includes an extension portion 51 connected to the elastic portion 50 and protruding relative to the elastic portion 50, the extension portion 51 being mounted to the third hole 47c of the first side S1 of the frame 20 in response to the elastic force of the elastic portion 50; in addition, the supporting body 42 includes an auxiliary protrusion 53 that can be inserted into one of the holes (e.g., the third hole 47c) to engage with the corresponding hole wall 49. Preferably, an operation portion 54 is further included to tilt relative to the elastic portion 50, the operation portion 54 is used to operate the elastic portion 50, so as to provide a force to the operation portion 54 for a user, so that the elastic portion 50 can release the first latching portion 52a, the second latching portion 52b and the extension portion 51 from the holes 47a, 47b and 47c of the first side S1 of the frame 20 in response to the force. In another aspect, the first end plate 46 has a first plurality of mounting holes 56.
The second base 40 includes a second side plate 58 and a second end plate 60. Herein, the second end plate 60 is connected to the second side plate 58 substantially vertically. Further, the second side panel 58 is detachably mounted to the first side S1 of the frame 20 at a second position, such as a third plurality of mounting features 36 detachably mounted to the first side S1, wherein the third plurality of mounting features 36 are, for example, but not limited to, a plurality of protrusions 37. The second side plate 58 can be captured between two of the third plurality of mounting features 36. In another aspect, the second end plate 60 is positioned relative to the first end plate 46 of the first base 38, the second end plate 60 having a second plurality of mounting holes 62. Preferably, the second plurality of mounting holes 62 of the second end plate 60 and the first plurality of mounting holes 56 of the first end plate 46 are spaced apart according to the EIA-310 standard. Related standards for EIA-310 are disclosed in the prior art of the present specification, and are not described herein for brevity.
Preferably, the support body 42 includes a support protrusion 64, and the support protrusion 64 is capable of being engaged with one of the second plurality of mounting features 34 on the first side S1 of the frame 20. The second mounting features 34 are, for example, support holes, and the support holes have hole walls 65 around the support holes, but the implementation is not limited thereto. The supporting protrusion 64 of the supporting body 42 can be inserted into one of the supporting holes and clamped on the corresponding hole wall 65.
The first slide assembly 26 is mounted to the first accessory mechanism 22. The first slide assembly 26 includes a first rail 66 and a second rail 68 that are displaceable relative to the first rail 66. Specifically, two portions (e.g., front and rear portions) of the first rail 66 can be mounted to the first and second mounting holes 56, 62 of the first attachment mechanism 22 via a first bracket 70 and a second bracket 72, respectively.
As shown in FIG. 6, the first accessory mechanism 22 is removably mounted to the first side S1 of the housing 20, and the second accessory mechanism 24 is removably mounted to the second side S2 of the housing 20; the chassis 30 can be mounted to the first accessory mechanism 22 and the second accessory mechanism 24 via the first slide assembly 26 and the second slide assembly 28, respectively. Since the structural configuration of the second side S2 of the rack 20 is substantially the same as that of the first side S1, the structural configuration of the second accessory mechanism 24 is substantially the same as that of the first accessory mechanism 22, and the structural configuration of the second slide rail assembly 28 is substantially the same as that of the first slide rail assembly 26, for the sake of brevity, no further description is provided herein with respect to the second side S2 of the rack 20, the second accessory mechanism 24, the second slide rail assembly 28, and the structural connection relationship therebetween. Preferably, the chassis 30 is mounted to the second rail 68 of each slide rail assembly 26, 28.
Further, in the rack system, the inner surface of the first side S1 and the inner surface of the second side S2 of the rack 20 define a first width W1; in another aspect, the first fitting mechanism 22 and the second fitting mechanism 24 define a second width W2. For example, the second width W2 is defined between the first end plate 46 of the first accessory mechanism 22 and the first end plate 46 of the second accessory mechanism 24 (or, alternatively, the second width W2 is defined between the second end plate 60 of the first accessory mechanism 22 and the second end plate 60 of the second accessory mechanism 24). Wherein the second width W2 is less than the first width W1. Preferably, the second width W2 is set according to the standard width of EIA-310.
It can be seen that the width of the enclosure 30 (e.g., the enclosure that is compliant with the EIA-310 standard) cannot be applied to the first width W1 of the rack 20, given that the rack 20 has the first width W1. Therefore, the first accessory mechanism 22 and the second accessory mechanism 24 can be mounted to the first side S1 and the second side S2 of the rack 20 respectively to have the second width W2 to be suitable for the width of the chassis 30.
As shown in fig. 7, the chassis 30 is displaceable from within the housing 20 toward the outside of the housing 20 by the second rail 68 of each slide rail assembly 26, 28 relative to the first rail 66 in a first direction D1; alternatively, the foldable device can be folded from the outside of the housing 20 to a second direction (opposite to the first direction D1) toward the inside of the housing 20.
Fig. 8 shows a housing 200 according to another embodiment of the invention. Specifically, the first accessory mechanism 22 different from the above embodiment includes a first base 38, a second base 40 and a supporting body 42. The first attachment mechanism (or the second attachment mechanism) of the housing 200 of this embodiment includes a first base 202 and a second base 204. The first base 202 and the second base 204 can be considered a slide mount assembly.
Further, the first base 202 includes a first side plate 206 and a first end plate 208 substantially perpendicularly connecting the first side plate 206; the first side plate 206 is removably mounted to a first plurality of mounting features 210 on one side of the rack 200. For example, the first side plate 206 can be mounted to a first plurality of mounting features 210 on one side of the rack 200 by a first fastener 212. In this embodiment, the first plurality of mounting features 210 are, for example, mounting holes for the first fasteners 212 to pass through; in another aspect, the first end plate 208 has a first plurality of mounting holes 214 for mounting a portion of the first slide assembly.
The second base 204 includes a second side plate 216 and a second end plate 218. The second side plate 216 is removably mounted to a third plurality of mounting features 220 on one side of the rack 200. For example, the second side plate 216 can be mounted to a third plurality of mounting features 220 on one side of the frame 200 via a second fastener 222 (this portion can be seen in fig. 9). In this embodiment, the third plurality of mounting features 220 can be mounting holes for the second mounting member 222 to pass through; on the other hand, the second end plate 218 corresponds to the first end plate 208 of the first base 202, and the second end plate 218 has a second plurality of mounting holes 224 for mounting another portion of the first slide assembly.
From the above description, it can be seen that the enhanced efficacy and advantages of the present invention are:
