本发明揭示用于利用内容接收器存储内容的多个实例的***和方法。一个实施例采用一种用于记录内容的多个实例的方法的形式,所述方法包括:在内容接收器处接收起始记录的指令;响应于所述指令,将第一调谐器设定到第一载波频率;进一步响应于所述指令,将第二调谐器设定到第二载波频率;在所述第一调谐器处接收内容的第一集合,内容的所述第一集合用控制字加密;在所述第二调谐器处接收内容的第二集合,内容的所述第二集合用所述控制字加密;以及将内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合记录在存储媒体上。

内容接收器的用户可能希望存取由内容提供者同时及/或实质上同时广播的内容的不同实例。举例来说,许多电视节目观众希望观看占据相同广播时隙的不同电视节目,例如与在下午七点与下午山地时间十点之间广播的主要电视节目相关联的不同电视节目。内容接收器可试图通过利用多个调谐器来解决此问题,所述多个调谐器可各自分别呈现及/或记录内容的不同的同时广播的实例。然而,内容接收器用户希望观看及/或记录的所广播的或以其它方式接收的内容的每一个同时或实质上同时的实例可能仍需要单独的调谐器。另外,除内容的每一个实例需要单独调谐器之外,内容接收器也可能需要足够的资源以将用户所希望的内容的实例中的每一者进行解扰、解调及存储。
图1为说明用于自动地记录来自一个或一个以上节目提供者的内容的多个实例的***100的框图。由***100提供的内容的多个实例的自动记录可使得内容接收器的用户能够存取由内容提供者同时及/或实质上同时广播的内容的不同实例。“内容的多个实例”可为(例如)不同节目、电影、节目插曲等等。因此,内容的多个实例可为节目的不同插曲或不同节目。应了解,通过本文中所描述的实施例,可同时记录内容的多个实例。
另外,应了解,内容的多个实例的第一群组可占据第一时隙,而内容的多个实例的第二群组可占据第二时隙。本文中所描述的实施例可在第一时间记录第一群组且在第二时间记录第二群组。

在图1的***的一些实施方案中,可同时从单个转发器记录内容的多个实例且将所述多个实例存储在内容接收器的非暂时性存储媒体111中作为内容的多个已记录的实例的单个文件。在播放来自内容的多个已记录的实例的单个文件的内容的一个实例时,内容接收器可递增地读取文件以便播放内容的所述一个实例,同时滤出其它文件内容(例如,文件内的内容的另一实例)。举例来说,可在转发器处接收内容的五个实例且同时由内容接收器基于预先定义的记录参数来记录内容的所述五个实例,且内容的所述实例中的每一者可以平均可用位速率记录。更具体来说,可由转发器接收内容的一个实例且由内容接收器以1兆位/秒(Mb/sec)的平均值记录内容的所述一个实例,以2兆位/秒的平均值记录内容的第二实例,以3兆位/秒的平均值记录内容的第三实例,以4兆位/秒的平均值记录内容的第四实例,且以5兆位/秒的平均值记录内容的第五实例。在此实例中,转发器接收内容的五个实例且内容接收器以15兆位/秒的集合位速率(例如,1兆位/秒、2兆位/秒、3兆位/秒、4兆位/秒和5兆位/秒的集合)记录内容的所述五个实例。因此,播放内容的五个实例中的一者涉及利用内容接收器以15兆位/秒读取完整文件,但丢弃除希望的内容的一个实例外的全部实例。在替代实施例中,可将同时记录的内容的每一个实例作为单独的文件写入于存储媒体111中。
在一些实施方案中,集合记录位速率可小于最大可用记录位速率。因此,用于转发器的为15兆位/秒的集合位速率可小于(例如)高达40兆位/秒的最大可用位速率。因此,播放已记录的内容的实例涉及内容接收器确定用于内容的同时记录的多个实例的文件的集合记录位速率,以及基于集合记录位速率而播放内容的实例。
在另一实例中,可以40兆位/秒的位速率(例如,用于转发器的最大集合位速率)记录内容的十个同时记录的实例的文件,以4兆位/秒的记录位速率(或平均位速率)播放内容的十个实例中的一者涉及利用内容接收器按总共记录40兆位/秒中的4兆位/秒的增量递增地读取文件。第一展示可与以总共40兆位/秒中的第一个4兆位/秒(例如,Mb 1到4)记录的内容相关联,第二展示可与以第二个4兆位/秒(例如,Mb 5到8)记录的内容相关联,等等。
在上述实例中,应了解,可基于统计多路复用利用通信地耦合的视频压缩器记录内容的多个实例,所述视频压缩器确定压缩待记录的内容的实例所需的数据的带宽。此情形使得内容的实例的记录(及重放)位速率在记录流内变化,且因此可各自以变化的位速率来记录内容的多个实例。对于给定转发器,随着正记录的输送流的百分比增加,记录数据的可变性降低。即,如果正记录100%的流(例如,以用于转发器的最大集合位速率),那么可变性为零。因此,许多变化的流的平均记录位速率可较少有杂音。在上述实例中,也应了解,可周期性地或实时地计算集合记录位速率。

控制器208一般提供于接近内容接收器202的区域中且借助于发射链路212通信地耦合到内容显示装置206并借助于发射链路213通信地耦合到内容接收器202。控制器208为(例如)远程控制件,例如通用远程控制件、专用远程控制件,或经编程以将命令信号(例如选择信号等)发送到内容接收器202的计算装置。控制器208可用以提供指示内容接收器202记录及/或重放内容的一个或一个以上实例的命令信号。
返回到内容接收器202,处理单元224可经编程以管理、起始或以其它方式促进从单个转发器上携载的若干节目信道接收的内容的一个(或一个以上)实例的记录及/或回放。举例来说,可同时记录四个节目信道和对应的内容的四个实例且将其存储在数据存储单元226中。在接收到可从控制器208发射的适当的一个或一个以上命令后,处理单元224便可从数据存储单元226中检索数据且将数据格式化以用于显示在内容显示装置206上。应了解,此格式化及显示可涉及解调、解密及/或由一般由处理单元224控制的一个或一个以上硬件、软件和/或固件元件(未必展示)执行的其它操作。因此,归于处理单元的动作可由内容接收器202的其它部分在处理单元的指导下执行。
记录及回放内容的多个实例中的一者或一者以上可涉及处理单元224读取与内容的实例的初始帧相关联的元数据,例如包识别符(“PID”)和呈现时间戳(“PTS”)。举例来说,在播放内容的实例时,处理单元224可仅选择用于待播放的内容的实例的PID,而忽略内容的多个同时记录的实例的文件内的其它PID。PID一般为与例如内容流和补充数据流等数据流相关联的识别符,其识别用于数据流的信道。若干PID可与由内容提供者204控制的一个转发器相关联且是利用图1的***来同时记录。通过识别或选择用于正从文件回放的内容的实例的正确PID,内容接收器202可前往正确地确定将显示内容的同时记录的多个实例中的哪个实例。
一般来说,内容接收器202可包含多个调谐器107、多路分用器109、解扰器110和/或其它解码器。在一些情况下,可从载波或其它信号解调内容以便重新建构、记录及/或观看内容。在许多情况下,解调发生在解扰之前。可将多路分用及解扰视为解码的实例。
在一些实施例中,单个解码器(例如多路分用器109和/或解扰器110)或任何给定类型的一个解码器(例如,一个解调器和一个解扰器)可与多个调谐器107相关联。每一调谐器可经调整以接收特定频带或转发器。因此,每一调谐器可接收不同转发器且因此可接收所述转发器上的内容的多种实例。
在此实施例中,每一调谐器107经调谐到的转发器可用共同控制字来编码。以此方式,每一单独调谐器可将在对应转发器上接收的内容的多个实例发射到单个解码器以用于处理。因为与各种转发器相关联的内容经一般地编码,所以解扰器110可相对有效地将所有此类内容解扰。可接着记录内容的这些多个实例,如先前所详述。以此方式,多个调谐器可与单个解扰器相关联以便从一个以上转发器/频带接收内容的多个实例并记录内容的多个实例。因此,多个调谐器可用以接收可能比单个转发器上携载的内容量多的内容且可通过所述调谐器所共同的且为所述调谐器所共享的元件来多路分用及/或解扰所有此类内容。由于共同控制字用以加密在不同转发器上携载的内容,因此单个解码器可处置所有内容。因此,可将内容的多个实例视为第一内容集合和第二内容集合,每一内容集合一般用控制字来加扰但携载在不同载波频率上。
应了解,多个转发器可使用相同控制字(或其它解密钥),即使不使用单个解扰器也如此。即,多个转发器可用单个控制字来加扰且一个调谐器107或通信单元220可从每一个此转发器接收对应数据。每一调谐器或单元可将所接收的信号发射到专用于所述调谐器以用于解扰的解扰器,在这点上,可将内容的多个实例的每一集合记录到存储媒体(分别地或在一个或一个以上集合文件中)。
在替代实施例中,可将从多个转发器接收的内容的多个实例记录在存储媒体上而不进行解扰或解密。解扰可发生在回放内容时。即,可将从转发器接收的内容的多个实例的全体作为单个文件(或在一些实施例中,每一转发器一个文件)存储在存储单元226上,所述内容仍被加密。解扰器可仅在回放内容时解密内容。在此实施例中,可从存储媒体226检索经加扰的内容,在执行识别及显示特定内容的操作之前将经加扰的内容发送到单个解扰器且将经加扰的内容解扰,如上文所描述。
在一些实施例中,***可检查以查看多个转发器上的内容是否使用相同控制字进行加扰。此情形可(例如)在对应于内容的实例中的一者或一者以上或转发器中的一者或一者以上的元数据中加以指示。元数据可识别用相同控制字加扰的所有内容和/或所有转发器。因此,处理单元224可接收此元数据且,响应于所述元数据,指示通信单元222从所述转发器中的每一者接收数据。在此实施例中,通信单元222可具有多个调谐器107。可接着存储所接收的内容并重放所接收的内容,如本文中别处所描述。也应了解,除元数据之外,某些实施例也可使用用户命令来指示通信单元222接收数据。同样地,可由内容提供者204来起始接收及记录内容的实例的命令。
以下情形可为有用的或希望的:除用共同控制字编码内容的多个实例之外,其次也用共同控制字编码内容的多个实例的某一子集。举例来说,此情形可准许将内容的子集递送到某些用户。内容的此子集可为额外的或增强的内容。作为一个实例,内容的子集可为与内容的多个实例的某一其它部分相关联的“幕后”呈现,且可仅被提供到支付额外费用的那些用户。内容的子集可与内容的其它多个实例中的一个或一个以上实例有关或可整个为单独的。可存取内容的子集的用户可为支付费用的用户、居住在某一地理区域中的用户或以其它方式与某一地理区域相关联的用户、对应于某些人口统计的用户等等。
可将内容的子集加扰两次,一次用内容的多个实例和/或转发器所共同的控制字来加扰,且一次用特定子钥来加扰。因此,可接收内容的子集且最初进行解扰(根据本发明的其它部分),而可保持通过子钥来加扰内容的子集,但内容的所有其它实例可完全经解扰。可记录子集以及内容的多个实例中的其余实例。应了解,在适于所讨论的实施例时,任一内容或所有内容的解扰可发生在将内容记录到数据存储媒体226之前或之后。
在一个实施例中,内容的子集不可由除经授权的用户之外的任何用户来回放。可通过几乎不可由未经授权的用户存取来接收及存储内容的子集。可防止未经授权的用户播放内容的已记录的子集,但未经授权的用户可能能够在已记录的内容列表中查看内容的已记录的子集。可为未经授权的用户呈现解锁内容的选项,例如购买内容或执行某一其它动作等。
在替代实施例中,可将内容的子集存储在内容的多个实例中的剩余实例中(在适当时,作为单独文件或存储在单个文件中),且不可为未经授权的用户检测到。因此,仅经授权的用户可感知及/或接收内容的子集。
在本发明中,所揭示的方法可实施为可由装置读取的指令或软件的集合。另外,应理解,所揭示的方法中的步骤的特定次序或阶层为样本方法的实例。在其它实施例中,可重新布置所述方法中的步骤的特定次序或阶层,同时仍在所揭示的标的物内。随附方法权利要求以样本次序呈现各种步骤的要素,且未必意味着限于所呈现的特定次序或阶层。
所描述的发明可提供为计算机程序产品,或软件,其可包含具有存储在其上的指令的非暂时性机器可读媒体,可用以对计算机***(或其它电子装置)编程以执行根据本发明的过程。非暂时性机器可读媒体包含用于存储呈可由机器(例如,计算机)读取的形式(例如,软件、处理应用程序)的信息的任何机构。非暂时性机器可读媒体可采用以下各者但不限于以下各者的形式:磁性存储媒体(例如,软磁盘、录像带盒等等);光学存储媒体(例如,CD-ROM);磁光学存储媒体;只读存储器(ROM);随机存取存储器(RAM);可擦除可编程存储器(例如,EPROM和EEPROM);快闪存储器;等等。
相信:将通过前述描述理解本发明及其许多伴随优点,且以下情形将为显而易见的:可在不脱离所揭示的标的物或不牺牲所揭示的标的物的所有材料优点的情况下在组件的建构及布置形式中作出各种改变。所描述的形式仅为说明性的,且随附权利要求书的意图是涵盖且包含此类改变。

Claims (12)
1.一种用于记录内容的多个实例的方法,其包括:
在内容接收器处接收起始记录的指令;
响应于所述指令,将第一调谐器设定到第一载波频率;
进一步响应于所述指令,将第二调谐器设定到第二载波频率;
在所述第一调谐器处接收内容的第一集合,内容的所述第一集合用控制字加扰,
其中内容的所述第一集合包括第一电视节目;
在所述第二调谐器处接收内容的第二集合,内容的所述第二集合用所述控制字加扰,其中内容的所述第二集合包括第二电视节目,且其中所述第二电视节目与所述第一电视节目不同;以及
在同一时间段内接收内容的所述第二集合和内容的所述第一集合;
由所述内容接收器解密消息以获得所述控制字;
使用所述内容接收器的单个解扰器和经解密的控制字,来解扰在所述第一调谐器处接收的内容的所述第一集合和在所述第二调谐器处接收的内容的所述第二集合;
以及
将内容的经解扰的内容的第一集合和经解扰的内容的第二集合记录在存储媒体上。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合是作为单个文件记录在所述存储媒体上。
3.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中内容的所述第一集合包括进一步用子钥加密的内容子集。
4.根据权利要求3所述的方法,其中所述内容子集存储在具有内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合的单个文件中。
5.根据权利要求3所述的方法,其中所述内容子集仅可由经授权的用户存取。
6.根据权利要求5所述的方法,其中所述内容子集的呈现仅可被经授权的用户看见。
7.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中在所述内容接收器处接收起始记录的所述指令,
所述指令包括在所述内容接收器处接收所述第一载波频率上的元数据,所述元数据指示所述控制字被用于对所述第一电视节目和所述第二电视节目加扰。
8.一种用于接收内容的多个实例的设备,其包括:
第一通信单元,其包括经操作以接收在第一转发器流上发射的内容的实例的第一集合的第一调谐器,其中内容的实例的所述第一集合包括第一电视节目;
第二通信单元,其包括经操作以接收在第二转发器流上发射的内容的实例的第二集合的第二调谐器,其中内容的所述第二集合包括第二电视节目,且其中所述第二电视节目与所述第一电视节目不同;
作为不同的转发器流的部分接收内容的实例的所述第一集合和内容的实例的所述第二集合;以及
在同一时间段内接收内容的实例的所述第二集合和内容的实例的所述第一集合;
智能卡,其经配置以解密消息以获得控制字;
处理单元,其操作地连接到所述第一通信单元和所述第二通信单元,所述处理单元操作以控制所述第一通信单元和所述第二通信单元;
解扰器,其操作以使用所述控制字将内容的实例的所述第一集合和内容的实例的所述第二集合解扰;以及
数据存储单元,其操作以接收并存储内容的经解扰的内容的实例的第一集合和经解扰的内容的实例的第二集合。
9.一种用于解密内容的方法,其包括:
接收用第一载波频率调制的经加扰的内容的第一集合,其中经加扰的内容的所述第一集合包括第一电视节目,所述第一电视节目是包括第一多个电视信道的第一转发器流的部分;
实质上同时地,接收用第二载波频率调制的经加扰的内容的第二集合,其中经加扰的内容的所述第二集合包括第二电视节目,所述第二电视节目是包括第二多个电视信道的第二转发器流的部分,且其中所述第二电视节目与所述第一电视节目不同;
解密消息以获得共同控制字;
用所述共同控制字解扰经加扰的内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合两者,由此产生经解扰的内容的第一集合和第二集合;以及
将经解扰的内容的所述第一和第二集合存储在存储媒体上。
10.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中经解密的内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合存储在单个文件中。
11.根据权利要求10所述的方法,其中经解密的内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合根据时间戳方案存储在所述单个文件中。
12.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其进一步包括在存储经解扰的内容的所述第一集合和所述第二集合时,将第一内容发射到显示装置。
