Abstract

请注意,通过从便携式媒体播放器删除收听过的那些片断,便携式媒体播放器可以仅保留用户尚未收听的那些播客片断。这里,自动除去已经播放的片断。在一个实施例中,如果播客片断的全部基本上播放,则该片断可以视为播放了。例如,如果片断的95%播放了,则该片断可以视为播放了。
本发明的另一方面涉及改进能够订购播客的方法。在一个实施例中,可以使用称为播客订购文件的便携式电子文件来便于订购播客。实际上,在一个实施方式中,通过简单地选择或打开播客订购文件(例如,双击该文件),可以用自动的方式完成订购。
图9是根据本发明一个实施例的播客订购文件创建过程900的流程图。例如,播客订购文件创建过程900由客户端(客户端程序)例如媒体管理应用程序执行。播客订购文件创建过程900开始创建902便携式播客订购文件。便携式播客订购文件是包含有助于订购播客的信息的电子文件。在创建902便携式播客订购文件之后,使904其他人可以利用便携式播客订购文件。然后,便携式播客订购文件可以如所需的那样被散发并然后用来帮助订购播客。

图12是根据本发明一个实施例的播客更新过程1200的流程图。例如,播客更新过程1200由客户端,例如媒体管理应用程序执行。

另一方面,当判定1302确定片断下载计数不大于N时,或者,当判定1304确定自从最初播客下载的日期以来没有大于M天时,或者当判定1306确定自从最初播客下载的日期以来客户端不是激活的时,使1310播客成为激活的。在框1308和1310之后,播客活动过程1300完成并结束。
图14是根据本发明一个实施例的重新设置激活变量过程1400的流程图。例如,重新设置激活变量过程1400由客户端装置上运行的客户端执行。该客户端操作用来在其操作期间在适当时间重新设置激活变量,以便影响上述就图13所描述的播客活动过程1300。换句话说,在某些时间,播客活动过程1300所利用的激活变量可以被重新设置成影响播客活动过程1300的操作。例如,被重新设置的激活变量可以包括片断下载计数或最初片断下载的日期。请注意,这些重新设置变量可以直接影响播客活动过程1300的判定1302、1304和1306。
重新设置激活变量过程1400以判定1402开始,确定是否建立重新设置条件。可以用各种不同方式建立重新设置条件。可以自动或者通过用户启动重新设置条件。无论如何,当判定1402确定不存在重新设置条件时,重新设置激活变量过程1400等待这种条件。换句话说,当达到合适的重新设置条件时,重新设置激活变量过程1400开始。一旦判定1402确定达到合适的重新设置条件就重新设置1404片断下载计数。这里,可以将片断下载计数重新设置1404为零。另外,重新设置1406最初片断下载的日期。这里,可以将片断下载的日期重新设置1406为当前日期。在框1406之后,重新设置激活变量过程1400完成并结束。
尽管可以用各种方式建立重新设置条件,但是,当按程序地或由用户启动时,客户端上发生的事件可以产生重新设置条件。一般来说,当客户端认识到客户端或客户端用户对播客表达兴趣时,按程序地触发重新设置条件。对播客表达兴趣的事件的例子是:(1)用户播放播客片断;(2)客户端(或便携式媒体播放器)完成播客片断的播放;以及(3)用户下载播客片断。
本发明的另一方面涉及对播客章节的增强。章节增强可以提供改进的用户界面来使用播客。通过包含章节信息的播客来启用章节增强。例如,章节信息可以用各种方式显示,以增强播放体验。
章节信息可以包括但不限于:标题、图片、url、说明(例如,以大量文本的形式,包括嵌入链接)、电影(音频和视频)、作品、专辑和播客订购。所有的章节信息都是可任选的,例如,一些章节可以具有标题和图片,其它的章节可以仅仅具有标题。
播客可以携带章节信息,或者嵌入在文件(例如,XML文件)中,或者携带在播客馈送中。
为了将章节信息嵌入文件中,m4a文件格式可以扩展成支持额外的章节信息。根据ISO文件格式,对轨道(track)信息进行格式化。标记为章节轨道的轨道可以包含章节信息。轨道可以命名为轨道、url轨道、图片轨道、说明轨道或其他元数据轨道。在开始任何章节时,可以改变包含在用户界面内的章节信息,以与该章节对应。
为了在播客馈送中提供章节信息,播客,即播客的RSS馈送,可以被增强以包含章节相关信息。该章节相关信息可以通过新指定的XML事件(例如,章节标记)指定。推定这些XML元素的客户端应用程序,例如媒体管理应用程序,可以从RSS馈送检索章节相关信息,从而在客户端装置(或者与客户端装置相关联的便携式媒体装置)上提供增强的用户界面。章节相关信息可以是文本、音频、图像和/或视频。在客户端应用程序不理解新指定的章节元素的情况下,RSS馈送仍可以使用,但是没有用户界面增强。
在一个实施例中,新指定的XML元素是(i)充当容器元素(containerelement)的段元素(segmentelement)信令标识一个段(即,章节)信号;和(ii)链接元素—与该段相关联的这些限定多媒体元素(图片、辅助音频、辅助视频)中的一个或多个。每个段可以具有起始时间、标题和到多媒体元素的URL。例如,在开始的时候,显示标题和多媒体元素。每个段还可以包含关于播客的段的其他元数据(例如,作者、轨道、相关URL链接)。
具有三个(3)章节的范例RSS馈送是:
通过章节信息的存在而促进用户界面增强(客户端应用程序或便携式媒体装置)可以包括下述例子中的任何情况。作为一个例子,章节图片可以显示为与播客的章节相关。当播放该播客时,章节图片自动改变成与当前章节相对应。当用户从一章节到一章节跳过时(例如,擦净),章节图片也可以改变。作为另一例子,当用户选择弹出菜单来选择章节时,弹出菜单中的每个菜单项包含章节标题,还包含章节图片的缩略图。作为另一个例子,当用户选择(例如,点击)章节图片时,客户端应用程序链接(超级链接)到章节URL。在另一个例子中,章节信息可以随着章节改变而改变。这里,章节艺术家、节目、说明和其它信息可以显示在用户界面的各个部分中,从而,它可以随着章节改变而改变。在另一个例子中,订购链接可以用作章节信息。如果选择订购链接,则客户端应用程序自动订购所述播客馈送。在一个实施例中,订购链接可以指向便携式订购文件。
虽然在上述几个实施例中强调的媒体资源(或者媒体项)是包括音频项(例如,音频文件或音频轨道)播客,但是媒体资源不限于音频项。例如,媒体资源可选择地涉及视频(电影)或图像(例如,照片)。更具体地,播客也可以称为数字多媒体资源。
本发明的各个方面、实施例和实施方式或者特征可以独立地或者任何组合地使用。
本发明优选通过软件实施,但是也可以用硬件或者硬件和软件的组合实施。计算机可读介质的例子包括只读存储器、随机存取存储器、CD-ROM、DVD、磁带、光学数据存储装置和载波。计算机可读介质的例子还可以分布在网络耦合计算机***上,从而,用分布的方式存储和执行计算机可读代码。
根据书写的说明,本发明的很多特征和优点将显而易见,从而。所附权利要求应当覆盖本发明的所有这些特征和优点。此外,因为本领域的技术人员容易想到大量的修改和改变,所以,本发明不应当局限于所示出和描述的确切结构和操作。这里,所有合适的修改和等同形式都可以诉诸于落入本发明的范围内。
Claims (15)
1.一种便携式媒体播放器,包括:
通信端口,适于与除所述便携式媒体播放器之外的外部设备进行通信;和
与所述通信端口耦接的处理器,所述处理器适于通过访问具有片断的播客的片断信息,然后如果确定存在所述播客的新片断,则用所述新片断更新所述播客,来更新所述播客。
2.如权利要求1所述的便携式媒体播放器,还包括存储装置,所述存储装置存储具有片断的所述播客。
3.如权利要求1或2所述的便携式媒体播放器,其中,所述处理器还适于确定所述播客是否是激活的。

确定所述便携式媒体播放器的用户是否对所述播客感兴趣。

7.如权利要求1或2所述的便携式媒体播放器,其中,所述通信端口还适于与所述外部设备进行双向通信。
8.如权利要求1或2所述的便携式媒体播放器,其中,所述片断信息被包括在存储在所述便携式媒体播放器处的便携式订购文件中。
9.一种自动更新播客的方法,包括步骤:
在客户端设备处访问所述播客的片断信息;以及
如果根据所述片断信息确定存在所述播客的新片断,则在所述客户端设备处用所述新片断更新所述播客。
10.如权利要求9所述的方法,还包括步骤:
确定所述播客是否是激活的。
11.如权利要求10所述的方法,其中,所述确定所述播客是否是激活的步骤包括:
确定用户是否对所述播客感兴趣。
12.如权利要求10所述的方法,其中,所述确定所述播客是否是激活的步骤包括步骤:
确定片断下载计数是否大于阈值量。
13.如权利要求9-12中任一项所述的方法,其中,所述片断信息被包括在存储在所述客户端设备处的便携式订购文件中。
14.如权利要求9-12中任一项所述的方法,还包括步骤:
通过数据网络将订购信息从所述客户端设备传给至少一个其它客户端设备而无需与主机设备交互,从而允许所述其它客户端设备订购所述播客。
15.一种自动更新播客的设备,包括用于执行如权利要求9-14中任一项所述的方法的每一步骤的装置。
