读取条形码符号和控制***操作的上述方法在激光扫描条形码符号读取器500内以自动的方式执行，对操作者完全透明，该操作者可将***握在他或她的手中，或者***在工作台面的表面上的架子中被支撑。借助于这种独特的控制方法，***能够以用户透明的方式，使用在激光扫描数据捕获和处理操作期间切换的激光源来读取激光扫描场的近部分和远部分两者中的条形码符号，而没有现有技术和工艺中呈现的复杂度。
容易想到的一些修改
虽然说明性实施例公开了使用1D激光扫描模块来检测扫描物体上的可见和/或不可见的条形码符号，但是要理解的是，也可以使用2D或光栅类型的激光扫描模块，来扫描1D条形码符号、2D堆叠式线性条形码符号、和2D矩阵编码符号，并生成用于解码处理的扫描数据信号。
虽然已经说明了手持式双激光扫描***，但是要理解的是，可将这些双激光扫描***封装在模块化的紧凑外壳中，并安装在固定应用环境中，例如在工作台面的表面上、在墙表面上、以及在例如铲车的可运输机器上，在这些地方需要扫描物体(例如，箱子)上的编码符号，该物体可能位于大扫描范围(例如，距离扫描***达20多英尺)内的任意地方。在这种固定安装的应用中，触发信号可由位于远程位置(例如，在驾驶员附近的铲车驾驶室内)或没有位于***的外壳上的任何地方的手动开关来产生。

Claims (13)

1.一种用于读取编码符号的激光扫描编码符号读取***，包括：
外壳，具有光传输窗口；

其中所述激光扫描模块响应于由***控制器生成的一个或多个控制信号，并包括

(ii)激光扫描机构，用于使所述近场激光束扫描越过所述激光扫描场和所述激光扫描场中的物体上的编码符号，或使所述远场激光束扫描越过所述激光扫描场和所述激光扫描场中的物体上的编码符号；
自动物体检测器，置于所述外壳中，用于自动检测所述物体何时出现在所述激光扫描场的近部分中，并对其响应以生成物体检测事件；
光收集光学器件，置于所述外壳中，用于收集从所述激光扫描场中的所扫描物体反射/散射的光；
光电检测器，置于所述外壳中，用于检测从所述编码符号收集的光的强度，并生成与在激光扫描操作期间的所述检测的光强度相对应的模拟扫描数据信号；
模拟扫描数据信号处理器，置于所述外壳中，用于处理所述模拟扫描数据信号，并将处理的模拟扫描数据信号转换为数字化数据信号；
编程的解码处理器，置于所述外壳中，用于解码处理所述数字化数据信号，并生成表示由所述近场或远场激光束所扫描的每个编码符号的符号字符数据；以及
输入/输出(I/O)通信接口，置于所述外壳中，用于通过由所述激光扫描编码符号读取***和主机***所支持的通信链路，与所述主机***对接并将符号字符数据发送到所述主机***；
所述***控制器，响应于所述物体检测事件的生成，用于控制所述激光扫描条形码读取***内的操作；以及
其中，当所述***控制器检测所述物体检测事件的生成时，所述***控制器生成所述一个或多个控制信号，该一个或多个控制信号引起所述近场激光源生成所述近场激光束，并且在激光扫描操作期间，所述激光扫描机构使所述近场激光束扫描越过所述激光扫描场中的物体上的编码符号，以便生成模拟扫描数据信号，该模拟扫描数据信号被处理并被转换为数字化数据信号，该数字化数据信号然后被解码处理以致力于读取所述物体上的所述编码符号。

6.一种双激光扫描条形码符号读取***，包括：
外壳，具有光传输窗口，以及在所述光传输窗口外部限定的激光扫描场；
激光照明的近场激光源，用于扫描在所述激光扫描场的近部分中的物体；
激光照明的远场激光源，用于扫描在所述激光扫描场的远部分中的物体；
自动物体存在检测子***，用于自动检测所述激光扫描场的近部分中的所述物体，并对其响应以生成物体检测事件；以及
***控制器，响应于所述自动物体存在检测子***，用于当响应于在所述激光扫描场的所述近部分中物体的自动检测而生成所述物体检测事件时，自动选择和激活所述近场激光源；以及
其中，如果所述物体检测事件没有被所述自动物体检测器所生成和被所述***控制器所检测，则所述***控制器生成所述一个或多个控制信号，该一个或多个控制信号引起所述远场激光源生成所述远场激光束，并且在激光扫描操作期间，所述激光扫描机构使所述远场激光束扫描越过在所述激光扫描场中的物体上的编码符号，以便生成模拟扫描数据信号，该模拟扫描数据信号被处理并被转换为数字化数据信号，该数字化数据信号然后被解码处理以致力于读取所述物体上的所述编码符号。
7.一种读取编码符号的方法，包括下列步骤：

(iv)激光扫描机构，用于使所述近场激光束扫描越过所述激光扫描场和所述激光扫描场中的物体上的编码符号，或使所述远场激光束扫描越过所述激光扫描场和所述激光扫描场中的物体上的编码符号；
(v)自动物体检测器，置于所述外壳中，用于自动检测所述物体何时出现在所述激光扫描场的近部分中，并对其响应以生成物体检测事件；
(vi)光收集光学器件，用于收集从所述激光扫描场中的所扫描物体反射/散射的光，以及光电检测器，用于检测收集的光的强度，并生成与激光扫描操作期间的检测的光强度相对应的模拟扫描数据信号；
(iii)模拟扫描数据信号处理器，置于所述外壳中，用于处理所述模拟扫描数据信号，并将处理的模拟扫描数据信号转换为数字化数据信号；
(iv)编程的解码处理器，置于所述外壳中，用于解码处理所述数字化数据信号，并生成表示由所述近场激光束和所述远场激光束扫描的每个编码符号的符号字符数据；以及
(v)I/O通信接口，用于将符号字符数据发送到所述主机***；
(b)检测所述激光扫描场的近部分中的物体并生成物体检测事件；
(c)响应于所述物体检测事件的生成，所述近场可见激光源生成所述近场激光束，所述激光扫描机构使所述近场激光束重复扫描越过所述激光扫描场的近部分中的物体上的任意编码符号，所述光收集光学器件收集从所述激光扫描场中的所述扫描的可见编码符号反射/散射的光，所述光电检测器自动检测收集的光的强度并生成与在扫描操作期间所检测的光强度相对应的模拟扫描数据信号，所述模拟扫描数据信号处理器处理所述模拟扫描数据信号并将处理的模拟扫描数据信号转换为第一数字化数据信号；
(d)所述解码处理器处理所述第一数字化数据信号以致力于读取在步骤(c)期间扫描的编码符号；以及
(e)如果所述解码处理器在步骤(d)期间读取所述编码符号，则所述解码处理器产生表示所述编码符号的符号字符数据，以及所述I/O通信接口将所述符号字符数据发送到主机***。
8.权利要求7的方法，其中，如果在步骤(b)期间没有检测到物体并且没有生成物体检测事件，则自动生成一个或多个控制信号，该一个或多个控制信号引起所述远场激光源生成所述远场激光束，并且在激光扫描操作期间，所述激光扫描机构使所述远场激光束扫描越过在所述激光扫描场中的物体上的编码符号，以便生成模拟扫描数据信号，该模拟扫描数据信号被处理并被转换为数字化数据信号，该数字化数据信号然后被解码处理以致力于读取所述物体上的所述编码符号。
9.权利要求7的方法，其进一步包括：

(g)所述解码处理器处理所述第二数字化数据信号以致力于读取在步骤(f)期间扫描的编码符号；以及
(h)如果所述解码处理器在步骤(g)期间读取编码符号，则所述解码处理器产生表示所述编码符号的符号字符数据，并且所述I/O子***将所述符号字符数据发送到主机***。
10.权利要求9的方法，其进一步包括：
(i)如果在如此进行的一次或多次尝试之后，所述解码处理器不能在步骤(g)期间读取编码符号，则所述***控制器将控制返回到步骤(b)并重新开始物体检测操作。
11.权利要求7的方法，其中步骤(b)包括：所述物体检测事件通过人工按压触发开关来生成，或通过自动物体检测器检测所述激光扫描场内的物体来自动生成。
