Description

Winding device for winding a fabric strip or a knitted material or the like on a roller, particularly for circular knitting machines
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a winding device for winding a fabric strip or knitted material or the like on a roller, particularly for circular knitting machines.
Background
As is known, circular knitting machines are generally provided with a fabric take-off device, which is arranged below the needle cylinder of the machine and exerts a downward drag force on the fabric being formed, which is necessary in order to ensure that it is formed correctly.
Typically, these take-off devices comprise a pair of rollers having horizontal axes parallel to each other, which cause the fabric constituted by the flattened tubular object to pass between them, one of which is powered to exert a drag force on the fabric in cooperation with the other roller.
Laterally to the powered roller, on the opposite side of the roller with which the powered roller cooperates during the drawing of the knitted fabric, a further roller is generally arranged, the function of which is to increase the angle of winding of the knitted fabric on the powered roller and to guide the knitted fabric towards a take-up roller arranged below the take-off device.
The take-up roller is part of a take-up device, which is located below the take-down device and generally comprises a frame that supports the take-up roller so that it can rotate about its own axis arranged horizontally, on which the knitted fabric must be taken up, and at least one take-up roller, which is also supported by the frame itself so as to be rotatable about its own axis, the axis of the take-up roller itself being arranged parallel to the axis of the take-up roller. The winding roller can be actuated in rotation about its own axis with respect to the frame, the take-up roller resting on the winding roller with the fabric wound thereon interposed therebetween, so that the rotational movement of the winding roller is transmitted by contact to the take-up roller, causing the fabric to be wound progressively on the take-up roller. The take-up roller moves in a vertical direction relative to the winding roller as the winding diameter of the knitted fabric changes, allowing the knitted fabric to be gradually wound on the take-up roller while maintaining contact with the winding roller in the downward region.
The use of these devices gives rise to variability in the tension of the knitted fabric during its winding, which leads to an uneven winding of the knitted fabric on the take-up roller.
Furthermore, because of this tension variability, over-stretching of the knitted fabric can occur during the process of winding the knitted fabric onto the take-up roller. This excessive stretching may be caused, for example, by: an excessive rotation speed of the take-up roller with respect to the rate at which the knitting machine forms the knitted fabric; and excessive torque transmitted by the take-up roller to the take-up roller.
In the case of particularly delicate knitted fabrics, this excessive stretching can damage the knitted fabric or permanently deform it.
Disclosure of Invention
The aim of the present invention is to solve the above problems by providing a winding device for winding a fabric strip or a knitted material or the like on a roller, particularly for use in circular knitting machines, which effectively avoids excessive tensions in the fabric strip or the knitted material or the like during winding.
Within this aim, an object of the invention is to provide a device which ensures an extremely uniform winding of the fabric strip or knitted material or the like on the take-up roller.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a device that enables winding of a fabric strip or knitted material or the like on a take-up roller with little drag applied to the fabric strip.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device which is simple in construction and can be manufactured at competitive prices.
Another object of the invention is to provide a device which is highly accurate and reliable in use.
This aim and these and other objects, which will become better apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a winding device for winding a strip of fabric or a knitted material or the like on a roller, particularly for use in circular knitting machines, comprising a frame which supports a winding roller rotatable about its own horizontally arranged axis, the strip of fabric or the knitted material or the like being designed to be wound on the winding roller, and at least one winding roller supported by the frame so as to be rotatable about its own axis, the winding roller having its own axis arranged parallel to the axis of said winding roller, the winding roller being actuatable to rotate about its own axis with respect to said frame, said winding roller resting on said winding roller, said strip of knitting wound on the winding roller being interposed therebetween so as to transmit the rotation of said winding roller to said winding roller, and in that the winding roller moves in a vertical direction with respect to the winding roller as the winding diameter of the strip of knitting varies, characterized in that it comprises means for limiting the winding torque transmitted by the winding roller to the winding roller.

Detailed Description
With reference to the figures, the device according to the invention, generally designated by the reference numeral 1, comprises a frame 2, which frame 2 supports a take-up roller 3, so that the take-up roller 3 can rotate about an axis 3a arranged horizontally itself, a strip of fabric 4 or knitted material or the like being designed to be wound on the take-up roller 3. The device also comprises a winding roller 5 supported by the frame 2 itself so as to be rotatable about its own axis 5a, this axis 5a being arranged parallel to the axis 3a of the take-up roller 3, and the winding roller 5 being actuatable to rotate about its own axis 5a with respect to the frame 2. The winding roller 3 rests on the winding roller 5 with the fabric tape 4 wound on the winding roller 3 interposed between them, so that the rotation of said winding roller 5 is transmitted by contact to the winding roller 3. The take-up roller 3 is movable in the vertical direction with respect to the winding roller 5 as the winding diameter of the fabric tape 4 changes.
According to the invention, the device comprises means for limiting the winding torque transmitted by the winding roller 5 to the take-up roller 3.
More specifically, the frame 2 consists of a lower profile 6, which is arranged substantially horizontally, and from which lower profile 6 two vertical shoulders 7, 8 rise, which are interconnected at their upper ends by horizontal bars 9, 10. If the device according to the invention is designed to be mounted on a circular knitting machine, the shoulders 7 and 8 can have arms 11, 12 in the upper region for connecting the frame 2 to the needle cylinder of the knitting machine.
The frame 2 supports, near the upper end of the shoulders 7, 8, a take-down device 40 of known type, for example of the type disclosed in PCT/EP2010/054796 by the same applicant, consisting of three adjacent rollers: a powered central roller 13, a contact roller 14 arranged on one side of the central roller 13, and a guide roller 15 arranged on the other side of the central roller 13. The rollers 13, 14 and 15 are arranged with their axes parallel and horizontal to each other, while the fabric strip 4 to be wound on the take-up roller 3 passes between the contact roller 14 and the central roller 13, then between the central roller and the guide roller 15, to finally reach the take-up roller 3, the take-up roller 3 being supported by the frame 2 so that its axis 3a is parallel to the axes 13a, 14a, 15a of the rollers 13, 14, 15 of the take-off device 40.
The take-up roller 3 consists of a cylindrical jacket 20, around which the fabric strip 4 is designed to be wound, and the cylindrical jacket 20 is closed at its circumferential ends by shafts or coaxial pivot portions constituting the axial ends 21, 22 of the take-up roller 3. These axial ends 21, 22 of the take-up roller 3 are each slidably connected to a corresponding vertical guide 23, 24, while the vertical guides 23, 24 are fixed to the corresponding shoulders 7, 8.
The means for limiting the winding torque comprise at least one pinion 25, 26 connected to the take-up roller 3 and meshing with a rack 27, 28 fixed to the frame 2 and extending vertically. The pinions 25, 26 are connected to the take-up roller 3 by means of unidirectional motion transmissions 29, 30, the transmissions 29, 30 being adapted to jointly connect the pinions 25, 26 to the take-up roller 3 during rotation of the take-up roller 3 about its axis 3a in a direction of rotation causing the fabric strip 4 to unwind from the take-up roller 3, and to disengage the pinions 25, 26 from the take-up roller 3 during rotation about its axis 3a in the opposite direction of rotation. The racks 27, 28 are coupled to the pinions 25, 26 and are arranged with respect to the pinions 25, 26 so as to cause the pinions 25, 26 to rise along the racks 27, 28 when the pinions 25, 26 rotate jointly with the take-up roller 3 by means of the action of the unidirectional motion transmission 29, 30.
Conveniently, the means for limiting the winding torque comprises: pinions 25, 26 which mesh with corresponding racks 27, 28; and a corresponding unidirectional movement transmission 29, 30 arranged between the pinions 25, 26 and the take-up roller 3 for each axial end 21, 22 of the take-up roller 3.
The unidirectional motion transmission means 29, 30 are preferably constituted by flywheel type means.
Conveniently, each pinion 25, 26 is fitted coaxially on a corresponding axial end 21, 22 of the take-up roller 3, while a unidirectional motion transmission 29, 30 is interposed between the take-up roller 3 and the pinion 25, 26.
At each axial end 21, 22 of the take-up roller 3, a portion of the pinion 25, 26 is also slidably connected to the guide 23, 24 so as to guide the vertical translation of the take-up roller 3 as the diameter of the fabric strip 4 progressively increases as it winds onto the take-up roller 3.
The winding roller 5 can be actuated in a similar manner to that disclosed in PCT/EP2010/054796, with reference to the take-off device 40, i.e. by means of a spring 51, one end of which is connected to an annular body 52 fixed coaxially to the axial end of the winding roller 5. Spring 51 engages annular body 52 in a region spaced from axis 5a of winding roller 5, the other end of spring 51 being connected to frame 2, it being possible, alternatively, to adjust the tension of spring 51 to vary the force of said spring on winding roller 5. The spring 51 is cyclically reloaded by means of the actuation of a fluid-operated cylinder 53, which is connected to the frame 2 by means of its cylinder and acts, by means of a rod 54 of its piston, on the region of the annular body 52 spaced from the axis 5a of the winding roller 5, in contrast to the action of the spring 51, in a manner similar to the actuation of the take-off device disclosed in PCT/EP2010/054796, which is incorporated herein by reference and which is incorporated by reference for the sake of completeness.
As an alternative, the actuation of the winding roller 5 can be obtained by means of other actuation means of known type, for example by means of an electric motor, the output shaft of which is connected to the winding roller 5.
For the sake of completeness of the description it should be pointed out that the frame 2 can also be supported by means of a lower support element 60, the lower support element 60 supporting the frame 2 so that it can rotate about a vertical central axis, which axis will be arranged at the axis of the needle cylinder when the device is mounted on the machine, to allow the frame 2 to rotate together with the needle cylinder of the machine.
The operation of the device according to the invention is as follows.
At the start of winding the fabric tape 4 on the take-up roller 3, said roller is arranged with its axial ends 21, 22 and thus the pinions 25, 26 close to the lower ends of the racks 27, 28. The fabric strip 4, or knitting material, etc. coming from the take-down device 40, winds its initial portion onto the take-up roller 3, the take-up roller 3 resting on the winding roller 5 due to its own weight. By contact, the actuation of the winding roller 5 in rotation about its own axis 5a causes the take-up roller 3 to rotate about its own axis 3a and, consequently, the fabric strip 4 coming from the take-down device 40 is progressively wound on the take-up roller 3. As a result of the fabric tape 4 being wound gradually onto the take-up roller 3, the assembly constituted by the take-up roller 3 and the fabric tape 4 wound thereon gradually increases in diameter, causing the take-up roller 3 and its axial ends 21, 22 to rise along the vertical guides 23, 24, while the pinions 25, 26 rise along the racks 27, 28. It should be noted that, during winding of the fabric strip 4 on the take-up roller 3, the take-up roller 3 rotates with respect to the pinions 25, 26 in the winding direction, which rotation in the winding direction, in the rotation of the take-up roller 3 about the axis 3a, is brought out of engagement with the pinions 25, 26 of the meshing racks 27, 28 by means of the unidirectional movement transmissions 29, 30.
During winding of the fabric strip 4 onto the take-up roller 3, if an excessive tension T occurs on the fabric strip 4 upstream of the take-up roller 3, i.e. between the take-up roller 3 and the take-off device 40, and if said tension T generates a lifting force F greater than the weight P of the assembly consisting of the take-up roller 3 and the fabric strip 4 wound thereon, this will tend to rotate the take-up roller 3 in the opposite direction with respect to the winding direction. In this case, the unidirectional movement transmission 29, 30 intervenes by jointly connecting the take-up roller 3 to the pinions 25, 26, rotating the take-up roller 3 about its axis 3a (clockwise in fig. 6 and 7), the pinions 25, 26 temporarily raising the take-up roller 3 with respect to the winding roller 5 by being connected to the racks 27, 28, thus limiting the torque transmitted by the winding roller 5 to the take-up roller 3.
In particular, with reference to figures 6 and 7, when the tension of the fabric strip 4 is F > P, the unidirectional motion transmission 29, 30 intervenes, rigidly connecting the pinions 25, 26 to the take-up roller 3 in the rotation of the take-up roller 3 about its own axis 3 a.
Wherein,
CR=T·R
T=Cr/r
T·R=F·b
F=T·R/b
F=C·R/r·b
if the winding roller 5 is actuated by using a spring 51 as shown in the figure, CrIs the torque generated by the spring 51, i.e. the torque of the force formed by the spring 51 with respect to its arm with respect to the axis 3 a.
The disengagement of the take-up roller 3 from the winding roller 5 during the operation of the machine is only temporary, since the production process of the fabric strip 4 reduces the tension T and therefore the force F, the take-up roller 3 comes back to rest on the winding roller and, in rotation about the axis 3a, disengages the pinions 25, 26 from the take-up roller 3.
For the device according to the invention, by adequately selecting the torque C applied to the winding roller 5rThe fabric strip 4 can be wound uniformly onto the take-up roller 3 with almost no tension T.
In practice it has been found that the device according to the invention fully achieves the intended aim, since it allows to wind the fabric strip or knitted material or the like onto the winding roller in a uniform manner and to limit the tension of the fabric strip during winding, thus preventing the fabric strip from suffering undesired deformations or damages.
The device thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which fall within the scope of the appended claims; thus, for example, the winding roller 5 can be replaced by two parallel-axis winding rollers, with the take-up roller 3 resting on both rollers. All the details may further be replaced with other technically equivalent elements.
In practice, the materials used, as well as the dimensions, may be any according to requirements and to the state of the art.
The italian patent application No. m 2009a001711, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference, is claimed for priority.
Where technical features mentioned in the claims are followed by reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and accordingly such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the interpretation of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
