Cinematographic machine for films with several series of photograms. The object of the present invention is a cinematographic machine for films with several series of photograms, in which the film slides on a carriage movable with respect to a window of the machine and capable of being moved by means of a cam controlled by a crank and a Maltese cross.
According to the invention; the cam comprises two opposite parts concentric with the axis of rotation of the cam but of different radii, these concentric parts being connected by curves calculated in such a way that when said cam rotates, it is held continuously in and out. contact of two parallel and opposite sides of a frame integral with the carriage.
The machine forming the object of the invention can be used for taking photographic prints as well as for projecting cinematographic photographs.
An embodiment of the object of the invention is shown by way of example, in the accompanying drawing. Figs. 1 and 2 are a front view and a plan.
Fig. 3 shows a film with two series of photograms.
a is a fixed window through which the projection is made. b is the laterally movable carriage, on which the film slides periodically; it is extended on one side at b 'b "so as to form an additional frame, The carriage moves alternately in transverse direction in front of the window a to present all the photograms of each horizontal series; after each move horizontal of the carriage, the film advances one step in the direction of the length of the film (length of ui photogramm.e) by sliding on the carriage.
<I> a '</I> is a window of the carriage <I> b </I> having a length equal to that many times the; the width of the window is that there are frames at each horizontal series of the film, so that in each position of the carriage the projection of the images passes through a and a '. it is the four-toothed Maltese cross for the transverse translation maneuver of films having two photograms per horizontal series.
e is titi disc mounted on a shaft which is rotated by means of gears driven by the shaft p which receives the command from the main shaft q by means of toothed wheels ;, f- is a crank on the tree <I> q; t </I> is a pin mounted on the disc to print with each revolution of the disc a <B> displacement- </B> of a tooth at the Maltese cross; s is the shutter.
On the shaft i of the Maltese cross is mounted a cam 1, which by its periphery presses against the edges of the extension b 'b "of the carriage, pushing it and accompanying it throughout its travel in one direction and in the other and preventing vibrations and small movements.
Two opposite portions of the periphery of the cam 1 are drawn along two arcs of circles having their center on the axis of the shaft i in order to keep the carriage stationary at the ends of its transverse displacements for a time sufficient for the longitudinal displacement of the rope; the rotation of the cam is such that, during a quarter of a turn of the cam, the carriage is moved aside corresponding to the width of a photogram, and during another quarter of a turn of the cam the carriage ng does not move , slum that the film travels longitudi nally on the carriage of a path corresponding to the height of a photogram.
The carriage has flattened vertical protrusions and flattened horizontal protrusions forming the protrusion upon which the lines W of separation of the various photographs of the film rest during the horizontal and vertical unwinding.
d is the shaft which produces the longitudinal displacement of the film; this movement is effected by means of a d 'finger which by inter inittence rotates the shaft d "housed on the carriage and carrying a toothed wheel", one tooth of which is actuated by the d' finger on each revolution of it.
To allow the shaft d "can be actuated whatever the position of the carriage, the width of the toothed wheel d <B> '</B> is equal to the displacement of the carriage; the finger d' is placed on the shaft d so (it and the ratio between the speed of the shaft p and that of the shaft d is such that the rotational movement of the shaft d "takes place in the period in which the quarter turn of the Maltese cross does not produce any movement of the cart.
