Description

Marine chronometer cap. In marine chronometers, re-assembly is generally carried out by inserting inside the instrument a key independent from it after having discovered an orifice containing the square of the shaft of the ball on which the key fits. The cover which closes the orifice in question cannot be qualified as airtight and its frequent opening allows mist, vapors and dust to penetrate to the cogs, which ends up having a harmful influence on the operation of the stopwatch.

The aim of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and, in addition, to further avoid the illicit shocks and fatigue that the operator could subject to the components of the timepiece when he was inserting. , the. key in its interior.

There is shown in the accompanying drawing a marine chronometer ca lotte, according to the invention, and given by way of example.

a is the crown; it carries at its upper end a screw thread on which the telescope fits and, on its walls, on its exterior, two supports b, diametrically opposed, which allow it to rotate in its suspension circle. The bottom of the. cap has a recess c clans which are housed most (the winding components.

These include a sleeve d which is fitted, in a sealed manner, in the bottom of the cap, the sleeve onto which the ring is screwed (II and, which presents, on the movement side, mie entry square for the arlue r of the barrel This bush carries a toothing e which meshes with a wheel f rotating on a boss g at the bottom.

Against this wheel is placed a cover h. excavated whose edge takes in a battue of the periphery of the bottom and which is held on the boss g by a plate 1) fixed to it by a screw. The in controller is. attached to the cover and to the. wheel f by screws passing through its base face.

The movement is introduced from above into the. cap and comes to rest by its plate on the, beaten h (the said cap; the shaft of the ball is introduced without further into the, sleeve d and, when (re-assembly, it is driven by the lever m, which is placed in the prolongation of the axis of the hands. The construction described in no way hinders the complete breaking of the manufacture of the timepiece. The movement can be manufactured completely for itself and the cap with Cie components. windings which are adapted to it also form a distinct whole, the manufacture of which is completely independent from that of the other parts of the watch.

Erase it. cl socket is tightly fitted to the back of the chronometer, neither dust nor mist can penetrate inside the shell. In addition, in the embodiment shown, the gear which is constituted by the toothed part of d and by the wheel f is protected in a sufficiently effective manner by the cover la. All the operating irregularities which had their source in the introduction of the key into the room are completely avoided by the use of the construction shown by way of example.
