Abstract
The therapy device (2) stands on skids (1) and forms a rocking chair for carrying out rocking movement with a load (4), consisting of at least one standing, lying or lying person. At least one movable or drivable mass body is present, with associated drive. As a result, the natural frequency of the vibration system, which then consists of the masses of the therapy device itself and that of the load, changeable. The drivable mass body may be formed by gyros (11), which are spring-mounted in a frame (15). Depending on the speed curve of the gyroscope (11), the rocking frequency and the specific form of movement of the therapy device can be varied over a wide range. The drivable mass body can also be virtual by emulating inertia with a drive. In this case, the drive is controlled so that it shows the behavior of a mass inertia, and thus a physically existing mass body is not needed.
Description
The rocking movement of a rocking chair has a calming and relaxing, it can also be used specifically for therapeutic purposes. Thus, with a suitable choice of rocking frequency, amplitude and shape of movement can be influenced on various body functions. In particular, the patient adjusts his respiratory rate to the rocking motion. For therapy, frequencies in the range of 8 to 20 oscillations per minute are used.
The rocking motion is a harmonic oscillation. Harmonic oscillations are known in all areas of the art, especially in mechanics (e.g., watches, car chassis) and electrical engineering (e.g., radio, oscillators, control engineering). The theory is relatively simple. In the case of a mechanical vibration is the interaction of a restoring force, which accelerates the oscillatory system in the direction of rest, and an inertia, which ensures that the movement oscillates beyond the rest state.
In the case of the rocking chair as shown in Fig. 1, the restoring force Fr is generated by the runners 1 and the gravity m * g, the inertia is the inertia of the moving masses 3 consisting of a load 4 in the form of a human and chair 2 Since the human weight increases both the restoring force and the inertia, the swing frequency is essentially independent of the weight of the person. Mathematically, this can easily be described with Newton. The rocking motion is a superposition of linear and rotary motion. For the sake of simplicity, only the equations for a linear motion are shown here, with the following quantities introduced with the corresponding units []: <Tb> restoring force: <sep> Fr <sep> [N] <Tb> deflection <sep> X <sep> [m] <Tb> Position: <sep> P <sep> [m] <Tb> rest position: <sep> p 0 <sep> [m] <Tb> speed <sep> V <sep> [m / s] <Tb> Acceleration: <sep> a <sep> [m / s ^ 2] <Tb> Mass: <sep> m <sep> [kg] <Tb> restoring constant: <sep> k <sep> [N / m] <Tb> oscillation amplitude: <sep> A <sep> [m] <Tb> Time: <sep> t <sep> [s] <tb> natural frequency: <sep> f <sep> [Hz] Displacement is the deviation from the rest position: x = p - p0 The restoring force is proportional to the deflection and points in the direction opposite to the deflection: Fr = -k * x The inertia of the mass m gives the following acceleration: a = Fr / m From the differential equation dx / dt = v and dv / dt = a one obtains: x = A * sin (2π * f * t) 2π * f = √ (k / m) and the time courses as indicated in FIG. 2 on the basis of an amplitude course over time.
The amplitude A is indefinite, i. it can be freely influenced by the patient, whereas the natural frequency f is given by the root of the ratio k / m. This is the frequency with which the system oscillates without external intervention. In a real system, this vibration will fade, as there are always some dampening influences. These are in particular the friction on the runners and the air resistance. In order to keep the system in vibration, the vibration energy lost in the damping must be supplied either externally or by muscular strength of the patient.
It is important to note that it is about the natural frequency of the system and not just about the frequency of the movement. It would not be effective if the chair with a correspondingly strong drive would simply be moved with a certain frequency, because then not only the frequency but also the amplitude would be predetermined. The patient would no longer have any influence on the amplitude with his own movements, which would mean that therapeutic success would no longer be possible. In addition, this loss of control causes severe discomfort in the patient. So in order to make the natural frequency adjustable, the reset constant k or the mass m must be changed.
AT 355 249 B shows how a suitable rocking chair can be built. However, it has been shown that the setting of the rocking frequency is difficult, especially at low frequencies there is a risk that the chair tilts. AT 355 249 B proposes two methods of frequency tuning: a) Change the curvature of the runners b) Change the height of the seating position Another possibility is to add additional masses to shift the center of gravity of the overall system in height.
A conventional rocking chair rocks at a frequency of at least 20 oscillations per minute. In order to reduce the frequency from 20 to 8 oscillations per minute, the mass m could be increased by the factor 6.25 according to the above equation. With a total weight of 100 kg, therefore, an additional mass of 525 kg would have to be used. It turns out, however, that already much smaller masses are sufficient. The reason for the lower natural frequency is less due to the additional inertia, but much more to a modified restoring force. If one attaches the additional mass above the patient, then this reduces the restoring force. If the rocking chair tilts backwards, the additional weight at the top pulls the chair additionally backwards, thus acting contrary to the restoring force. Therefore, the frequency drops.
In order to reduce the frequency by means of the restoring force of 20 to 8 oscillations per minute, the restoring force according to the above equation must be reduced by a factor of 6.25. The additional mass must therefore generate a force against the restoring force, so that the restoring force is compensated to 84%. The sum remains only 16% of the reset constant k whereby the frequency decreases from 20 to 8 oscillations per minute. The reset constant is influenced by the patient situation. If the patient moves, it can easily happen that the reset constant k is reduced too much. If it becomes zero or even negative, the system becomes unstable and the chair tilts.
It would be safer if you could change the frequency alone with an additional mass m, because the system can not be unstable. The necessary masses (525 kg, see example above) are not practical. An alternative method for frequency adjustment from AT 355 249 B is the adjustable curvature of the skids. This can be achieved practically only with elastic structures. Such structures spring under rocking under the weight of the patient, which changes the frequency and can also lead to instability.
The object of the present invention is therefore to build a rocking chair, wherein the frequency and the shape of movement over a wide range are adjustable and thereby remains easy to use and safe.
This object is achieved by a therapy device that stands on curved runners or stands on a linkage or hangs in such, for performing a rocking motion with at least one load from at least one standing, sitting or lying person, and thereby characterized in that it includes at least one movable or driven mass body mi t associated drive, by means of which the natural frequency of the vibration system consisting of therapy device and patient is changeable.

There are the following possibilities to make the natural frequency variable. <tb> a) <sep> The use of a translation for the additional mass. If the additional mass is coupled via a gear to the rocking chair, so that the mass moves, for example, five times faster, then in the above example only 21 kg additional mass is necessary to reduce the frequency from 20 to 8 oscillations per minute, as the inertia increased quadratically with the gear ratio. <tb> b) <sep> The emulation of the required inertia by means of a drive. With the help of a force sensor, it is technically possible to regulate a drive so that it behaves exactly the same as an inertia. The chair then feels as if an extra mass were present. <tb> c) <sep> The use of an additional mass above the center of gravity to shift the center of gravity of the overall system upwards. The position of this additional mass is designed adjustable with a drive. The danger of instability can be controlled by the drive: if the system threatens to become unstable, the drive can move the additional mass downwards to restore stability and prevent tilting.
Fig. 1 shows the conventional rocking chair as a therapy device. He rocks with his own natural frequency. The mass of the person sitting on it has little influence on the natural frequency of the entire system. The natural frequency is essentially determined by the geometry of the chair. The vibration is substantially harmonious and the movement of the chair is as shown in Fig. 2. In Fig. 3, a variant is shown in which the therapy device, here again a rocking chair, with horizontally forward and rearward extending arms 5, is provided on which displaceable mass body 6 are located as additional masses. The farther away from the center of gravity 3 are the additional masses, the greater will be the inertia of the rotational movement during rocking.
Fig. 4 shows an alternative with the use of rotors 11 in the chair 2. These gyros 11 are mounted here in a frame 15 in which its axis of rotation is horizontal, and perpendicular to the axis about which the chair 2 can rock , Fig. 5 shows the arrangement of the two rotors 11 in a view from behind. The gyros 11 are mounted in a rotatable frame 15. The rotation of this frame 15 is held by tension springs 10. The three axes of rotation of rocking motion 12, gyro 13 and frame 14 are substantially perpendicular to each other. As a result, the rocking motion is gyroscopically coupled to the tension springs 10. Fig. 6 shows the arrangement of the two rotors 11 in a view from above, with deflected springs. The gyroscopic coupling between the axes depends on the speed of the gyro 11 and can therefore be adjusted continuously with a speed control.
The force which exerts the rocking motion on the gyroscope 11 is translated with the gyroscopy to a speed of deflection of the tension springs 10. The gyroscopic coupling of the resulting spring force in turn results in a speed in the axis of rotation of the swing. Together, this results in the behavior of a mass inertia. It is advisable to construct such a system as shown symmetrically from two counter-rotating rotors 11, so that cancel the disturbing torques exerted by the springs 10 on the chair 2, each other.
Systems with a drive have the advantage that the natural frequency can be set arbitrarily at the touch of a button. In addition, new opportunities open up. Referring to Fig. 7, a natural vibration mode is shown when the natural frequency is set differently in the forward and backward movement. Thereby, the time for the after-coasting 20 can be set independently of the time for the return 21, i. not only the natural frequency, but also the natural mode is adjustable in this way.
Fig. 8 shows a chair 2 with linkage 8 instead of runners, which is driven directly, without detour via an adjustable mass. In such an arrangement, the natural frequency can also be set variably. The drive 7, which directly drives the chair 2, is used to emulate a variable virtual mass. The drive is controlled so that it shows the behavior of a mass inertia. In this way, the natural frequency can be changed without the need for a physically existing mass body is required. This requires special but well-known control and sensor technology. Such a drive 7 can also be used at the same time to change the restoring force, by generating a force proportional to the deflection, or to drive the rocking motion, for example, by giving a small impulse whenever the chair is in front and the amplitude not too big.
In addition, the drive 7 can also be used to compensate for the friction, so that the system has no more damping. The patient then needs less force to keep the vibration going. If the amplitude becomes too large, the drive can be used to emulate additional friction and thus limit the amplitude of vibration to a safe level. At the same time, the drive can also exert an additional constant force to move the rest position of the chair.
For the case as shown in Fig. 9, according to which the drive does not directly the chair, but only the height of a mass body 6 as additional mass m drives, the restoring force depends directly on the set height. In this case, the drive does not have to emulate inertia in order to change the natural frequency, but only has to set the appropriate height of the additional mass m. The various adjustment options mentioned above can be implemented in this case as follows: If the time for the forward-commuting should be longer than the time for the back-commute, then the additional mass must be slightly down at the front and slightly behind at each pendulum movement to be moved upwards. To drive the rocking motion, the additional mass m is moved upward as it passes through the rest point and when reaching the reversal points down. A child does the same when rocking on a swing. Moving the rest position of the chair is not possible with this version. This would require a second drive to shift the center of gravity horizontally forward and backward, e.g. as shown in Fig. 3.
It turns out that even with a single drive a large wealth of functions can be realized. All these functions can be changed at any time with an operator panel. This raises the question of the usability of all these functions. Most users would be overwhelmed with it. A specialist, however, can use these settings to produce very targeted effects. These settings can be saved as a profile. Such profiles can be retrieved at the touch of a button as needed. The HMI device can be designed like a remote control in consumer electronics with buttons. More possibilities arise with more modern concepts, in particular, a wireless connection to a graphical control unit can be installed in the therapy device, e.g. a web server with WLAN, so that you have an appealing user interface via Internet with a portable web browser with access to all parameters, saved profiles and readings.
An alternative method to set the various parameters without operating device results from the scheme, which responds to the patient. The controller can easily detect with the sensors of the drive whether and how the center of gravity of the patient moves. These movements can be interpreted as gestures, e.g. to recognize whether the patient wants to get off. If the patient moves his center of gravity to the front and remains there, this results in a constant additional force in the drive, which can be easily detected in an electronic control. So the chair can be moved forward with the drive and the patient can safely get on and off.
A further development of the gesture recognition can be used to vary the swing frequency and other parameters. In other words, the chair can feel what the patient wants. This results in a very intuitive operation, and it is possible to get by completely without manual controls. Such behavior can be most easily realized in an electronic control with the aid of a watcher-based controller. From the model of the system is well known which movements are necessary to keep the rocking motion with minimal energy expenditure in motion. It is expected that a patient who wants to rock will perform these movements. If the patient moves differently than expected, this can be interpreted as a gesture.
Examples include: If the patient always makes the movements a little earlier than expected, this means he wants to increase the natural frequency. If he always makes the movements a bit too late, it means he wants to reduce the natural frequency. If he is always too late in his movements while swaying at the front, but always punctually at the back, this means that the patient wants to exhale longer but does not need more time to breathe. The natural mode can then be adjusted accordingly. If a brief abrupt patient movement is registered, the patient is probably scared and the drive may slow down. When used as a therapy device, the question arises, what should the patient be able to influence and what does the therapist want to pretend. This can be defined accordingly via an operator panel. For example, the therapist can specify the frequency and mode of vibration and leave the rest to the patient. It makes sense for the therapist to use the HMI device and for the patient to intuitively control the remaining parameters via gesture recognition.
Für beides sind entsprechende Ausführungsformen bekannt: US 383 808 A, US 482 167 A, US 1 544 187 A, US 4 707 026 A, US 6 464 295 B1, EP 0 289 254 A1, US 4 108 415 A, US 4 536 029 A, US 2 302 387 A. Wenn die Kinematik des Stuhls geeignet gewählt wird, dann ist die natürliche Eigenfrequenz im gewünschten Bereich. The skids of a rocking chair can be dangerous if they roll over a foot. Instead of runners, a swivel system can be used. Either the hinge must be above the center of gravity, or it needs a parallel mechanism of a linkage and swivel joints. For both, corresponding embodiments are known: US 383 808 A, US 482 167 A, US 1 544 187 A, US 4 707 026 A, US 6 464 295 B1, EP 0 289 254 A1, US 4 108 415 A, US 4 536 029 A, US 2 302 387 A. If the kinematics of the chair are chosen appropriately, then the natural natural frequency is in the desired range. The drive then has to exert only small forces to produce the desired system behavior. The required drive power becomes relatively small. Since the drive can be dimensioned weak and also essentially produces a mass inertia, but not actively exerts large driving forces, its behavior is well predictable and harmless. In the variant according to Fig. 9 with the height-adjustable additional mass m, it is particularly easy to make the system safe, since the driven parts can be completely encapsulated.
