The invention relates to a housing with a device for cable strain relief according to the preamble of claim 1.
Such housings are suitable, for example, for electrical apparatuses which have a connecting line by means of which the apparatus can be connected to the electrical supply network. The strain relief is intended to prevent the cable from being torn out of the device.
Cable strain reliefs are known per se. The cable strain relief is usually carried out by a clamp with which the cable is screwed to the housing. Another type of cable strain relief is known for example from GB-A 2 087 664. Cable bushings of this type consist of several individual parts and therefore require a considerable amount of production and assembly.
The invention has for its object to provide a housing with a device for cable strain relief, which is inexpensive to manufacture and can be installed efficiently.
According to the invention, the stated object is achieved by the features of claim 1. Advantageous configurations result from the dependent claims.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing.
Show it:
1a is a plan view of the clamping wing,
1b is a view of the clamping wing,
2a-c views before, during and after the insertion of a cable between the clamping wings,
3 is a plan view of the cable held between the clamping wings,
4 is a perspective view of the cable held between the clamping wings on a housing part,
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of two housing parts and
6a-b an embodiment of a sealing section.
1a and 1b show the top view or frontal view of a body 1 which carries two clamping wings 2. The body 1 can be positively connected to a wall of a first housing part 5. The housing belongs to an electrical device to which a cable can be firmly connected. Each of these clamping wings 2 is a plate-shaped, leaf spring-like structure which merges into the body 1 in the so-called foot region 3 and which has a free end with a preferably pointed edge 4. The edges 4 of the two clamping wings 2 lie opposite one another and are parallel to one another. The clamping wings 2 are arranged obliquely with respect to a line 6 connecting the foot regions 3, so that they form an angle alpha of approximately 30 ° with this connecting line 6.
The cable to be held comes to lie along an axis 7 which is approximately perpendicular to the connecting line 6, so that the clamping wings 2 also run obliquely to the cable axis 7. It is essential to the invention for the design of the strain relief that the body 1 with the clamping wings 2 is oriented in the housing such that the clamping wings 2 are directed towards the interior of the housing. Shape, dimensions and material properties such as in particular the elasticity of the clamping wing 2 are chosen so that the clamping wing 2 show spring action. For the shape of the body 1, which carries the two clamping wings 2, there is a great deal of design freedom, which depends primarily on how the housing, in which the strain relief is to be provided, is designed. The body 1 and the clamping wings 2 are e.g. made of polypropylene.
FIGS. 2a to 2c show views analogous to FIG. 1b. The body 1, the clamping wing 2 and the first housing part 5 are advantageously designed as a one-piece plastic molded part. They form a holding device for strain relief for a cable 8. This should be pressed by hand or by means of a plunger 9 between the clamping wings 2 and then held by these.
FIG. 2a shows a view that corresponds to the state before the cable 8 is pressed in between the clamping wings 2. To press the cable 8, the punch 9 is moved relatively in the direction of the clamping wing 2. 2b shows a state in which this movement has occurred to such an extent that the plunger 9 presses the cable 8 against the clamping wings 2. It is advantageous if the parts of the clamping wing 2 facing the stamp 9 together form a V-shape, so that the cable 8 is guided during the pressing in so that it enters the gap between the two edges 4 of the clamping wing 2 in an informal manner. When the previously described relative movement between the punch 9 and the clamping wings 1 continues, the punch 9 presses the cable 8 between the clamping wings 2. FIG. 2c shows the final state which is reached at the end of the relative movement.
By pushing in the cable 8, the clamping wings 2 are slightly bent apart and bent, which is easily possible because of their spring action and which at the same time results in a certain force effect of the clamping wings 2 on the cable 8. Since the cable 8 is also elastic, it is somewhat constricted under the effect of the edges 4 of the clamping wings 2. By bending the clamping wings 2 apart, the distance between the edges 4 has become larger. The pointed edges 4 clamp the cable 8 particularly well.
The cable 8 is now clamped between the edges 4 of the clamping wing 2. A supervision for this state is shown in FIG. 3. The clamping wings 2 are bent relative to the starting position shown in Fig. 1a. The direction of deflection is predetermined by the inclined position of the clamping wings 2 relative to one another such that the angle alpha has become somewhat larger. The constriction of the cable 8 can also be seen from FIG. 3.
By pressing in the cable 8, the clamping wings 2 together with the cable 8 move in the direction of the interior of the housing, so that the cable 8 moves towards a connection point, not shown, in the interior of the housing. As a result, a complete strain relief of the connection point is achieved even if the cable 8 was initially under slight tension. A traction on the electrical connection point is thus completely excluded.
The effect of the cable strain relief can also be seen directly from FIG. 3: If the cable 8 is pulled in the direction of pull Z indicated by an arrow, the tensile force is transferred to the latter by the static friction between the cable 8 and the clamping wings 1. Thus, the clamping wings 2 are moved in the direction of the tensile force, so that the distance between their edges 4 becomes smaller, which leads to a correspondingly increased clamping effect on the cable 8. This makes it impossible to pull out or tear out the cable 8.
For cables 8 with a diameter in the range of five to nine millimeters, the length between the edge 4 and the foot area 3 of the clamping wing 2 is e.g. ten millimeters, their thickness about 1 to 2 millimeters and the distance between the edges 4 of the two clamping wings 2 before the insertion of the cable 8 three millimeters.
4 shows a perspective view of the first housing part 5, the cable 8 being shown in the position of use. Free ends of individual wires of the cable 8 are also shown, which are to be connected to the electrical connection point, not shown.
5 shows a perspective view of this first housing part 5 together with a second housing part 10. On the housing part 5 two bodies 1 are molded in a slightly modified form compared to FIG. 4, each carrying a clamping wing 2. The stamp 9 is molded onto the housing part 10 with the advantage that the stamp 9 does not have to be a separate tool. Also shown is a connection point 11, connected to the housing part 10, for the individual wires of the cable 8. The two housing parts 5, 10 are advantageously matched to one another in such a way that they together represent the entire housing.
They are advantageously designed such that they are connected to one another by joining and subsequently tilting the housing part 10 in the mounting direction M indicated by an arrow, it being possible for the two housing parts 5, 10 to be held together by a latching connection. The stamp 9 is placed on the housing part 10 such that it presses the cable 8 between the clamping wings 2 while the two housing parts 5 and 10 are being joined together. It is thereby advantageously achieved that the fixing of the cable 8 in the cable strain relief takes place automatically when the housing parts 5, 10 are joined, that is to say that a separate “mounting of the cable strain relief” operation is dispensable. This means a remarkable rationalization effect, especially since no tools are required and automatic assembly is made considerably easier.
5, the housing part 10 has a bushing for the cable 8 with a sealing section 12, which is shown in a sectional drawing in FIGS. 6a and 6b. 6a shows the sealing section 12 in the original state after manufacture. The housing part 10 merges at the sealing part 12 into a circular segment 13 which has a hole 14. The wall thickness of the segment 13 decreases continuously from the outer edge towards the hole 14. The hole 14 has a diameter that is smaller than the diameter of the cable 8.
The housing part 10 consists of an elastic plastic such as polypropylene. If the cable 8 is pressed against the hole 14 under the action of force, the inner edge of the segment 13 deforms around the hole 14, as shown in FIG. 6b, so that the inner edge bears firmly against the cable 8. With this type of sealing of the interior of the housing from the environment, it is achieved without an additional part that the apparatus inside the housing is protected against the ingress of foreign bodies or liquids. The sealing section 12 is arranged in such a way that the cable 8 connected to the connection point 11 is guided over the stamp 9, so that when the housing parts 5 and 10 are mutually closed, the free end of the stamp 9 easily connects the cable 8 between the edges 4 (FIG. 1b) the clamping wing 2 presses.
It is also possible to provide the housing part 10 with two stamps 9, the free end of which is rounded in accordance with the diameter of the cable 8, and which are arranged such that they direct the cable 8 with respect to the cable axis 7 immediately before or after the deflection area of the cable Press in clamping wing 2. It is thereby achieved that the punch 9 can be optimally adapted to the diameter range of the cables 8, without being restricted by the geometry of the clamping wings 2.
