Con il termine «arnia» si intende l'abitazione che l'uomo fornisce alle api, allevate normalmente allo stato domestico. The term "beehive" refers to the house that man supplies to bees, normally reared in the domestic state.
Essa deve rispondere a determinati e precisi requisiti atti a determinare un'apicoltura razionale, agevole e remunerativa. It must meet specific and precise requirements to determine rational, easy and profitable beekeeping.
Alcune caratteristiche, particolarmente significative, che le arnie razionali devono possedere, e che normalmente vengono tenute in considerazione in fase di realizzazione sono qui di seguito elencate.
