PATENTANSPRÜCHE 1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von Azoverbindungen der Formel I
EMI1.1
EMI1.3

PATENT CLAIMS 1. Process for the preparation of azo compounds of the formula I
EMI1.1
wherein Rl is an organic radical which may have substituents and K is a coupling component, the molecule being free from hydroxyl and primary or secondary amino groups, characterized in that an azo compound of the formula IV
EMI1.2
treated with water-releasing agents.
2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that an inorganic acid halide, a dehydrating acid or an acid anhydride, preferably phosphorus oxychloride, is used as the water-releasing agent.
The compounds of formula I.
EMI1.3
wherein Rl is an organic radical which may have substituents and K is a coupling component, have hitherto been obtained by diazotizing an amine of the formula II
EMI1.4
and coupling with a compound of formula III H-K (III).
With this manufacturing process, however, the yield only reaches about 40%. A process was therefore sought which would make it possible to prepare the azo compounds of the formula I on an industrial scale. It was found that the compounds of formula 1, which are free of hydroxyl and primary or secondary amino groups (which do not include amide groups), can be produced with significantly better yields if 4-carbonamido-5-aminotriazole substituted with Ri is used couples a compound of formula III and the resulting azo compound of formula IV
EMI1.5
treated with water-releasing agents.
Substituted 4-carbonamido-5-aminotriazoles are e.g. B.
through the publication of R.E. Hoover et al., J. Am.
Chem. Soc. 78, 5832, (1956).
Diazotization and coupling are carried out according to customary methods. Inorganic acid halides, e.g. Phosphorus oxyhalides, phosphorus tri- or pentahalides, thionyl chloride, but also dehydrating acids, e.g. (Poly) phosphoric acid, sulfuric acid, para-toluenesulfonic acid, acid anhydrides and chlorosulfonyl isocyanate, especially phosphorus oxychloride.
The dehydration is preferably carried out in an inert organic solvent, e.g. a dialkylformamide, preferably dimethylformamide, at temperatures between 20 and 100 C, in particular 40-60 "C.
The compounds obtained in this way are then preferably precipitated by adding water and / or alcohol and are usually already very pure after the usual filtering and washing.
Disperse dyes of the formula V are preferably used
